Pretty much just saying you are a student. A student ID is adequate but online you need no proof whatsoeverThe terms don't list the required documentation for k-12 proof....id? Pay stub?

LOL I bought one earlier this year too and was cycling through the fine print to see if I could finesse my way into getting a free pair of beats.....ahh well.I just bought a Macbook two days ago... GRR LOL
Actually there were many years in the past where the program started in June.Back to School sales already? Didn't North American schools just start the summer break?
I guess Apple is the corporate equivalent of that one oddball kid who actually enjoys going to summer school.![]()
True, and the shipping times for some of current models are starting to change as well.It wouldn't be the first time Apple ran the Back to School promo and the MacBook Pro received an update after the promo started, or had 2 different generation MBP's being offered during promo.
July 1, 2014 : Back to School promo starts
July 29, 2014 : new 13" and 15" retina MBP's launched
June 11, 2012 : Back to School promo starts
June 11, 2012 : Apple updates 2nd gen non-retina MBP *and* releases retina MBP (3rd gen) .... all on the same day
Yep, this tells me we won't see the MBP update this summer. Apple is trying to incentivize people to buy this outdated hardware.
If you don't mind open box from Best Buy, you can already find them for about $180.
Take it back, and buy it again. They will completely understand, and it is worth the hassel.I just bought a Macbook two days ago... GRR LOL
No. Apple's back to school promo traditionally starts sometime around Memorial Day and ends around the time of its first fall refresh event.
Best Buy has the iPad Airs on sale. Does anyone know if BB will include the free Beats headphones to match the Apple promotion? I wouldn't think so but I've seen crazier things.
They want people who are uninformed to buy off their old supply of MacBooks.Could this be indicative of no mac refreshes this summer?
I imagine they wouldn't have initiated this promotion so early otherwise.

That may be your opinion, but I can tell you from my experience that the beats headphones I got last year are very good in build quality and sound reproduction. I was a studio engineer for many years, and even though there are better headphones than beats, they are pretty good, and a no brainer if they are free. I heard over and over last year that beats were terrible and I was surprised to find out how good they actually were. If you don't want them, give them away.

I bought my son's Macbook on May 18th as a high school graduation present. Called Apple sales who put me in touch with the manager at the local Apple store. They had me bring the Macbook in where they returned it, then resold it to me with the Beats. And I got to keep the $50 educational discount. Really nice of them--they didn't have to do that. Give it a whirl.
