In the previous years when the promotion started in Europe?

EDIT: I have not seen somebody already asked this question, sorry.

Want an iPad Pro...but I think I'll wait for better discounts near black friday. ~$150 off based on last year.

Yeah, just have to wait for your device to be almost a year old and soon to be replaced by a newer, faster one.

Like buying the 2016 model car in 2017.

Why not a price reduction equal in value? At least make that an option!
Because that would cost apple out of pocket equal to the retail price of the Beats. Giving you the headphones costs them only their own cost, which is probably pennies on the dollar.

Seems like a ok deal to me. Not sure why some people are so terribly upset. Yeah, there was a time when I would have preferred iPod Touch (which I gave to a friend) but this seems an ok promotion too.

This promotion is beyond laughable now. Nobody wants Beats headphones. They'd be better off temporarily having deeper discounts on the education store, it would be a far better promotion.

For example, 30% off all Macs and iPad Pros. Think regular education discount is about 15%, although that sounds too high.

The Solo3’s are the first ones worth a damn, IMO, in the whole “Solo” family. They have the W1 chip and the sound and battery life are much better than in the past.
Beats Studio Wireless sound much better, too bad they haven't been updated in a while (no W1 chip).

That would be the smartest play, be it a car or an iPad Pro. The iPad Pro would be no less fantastic and the year of depreciation on the price benefits the customer. You still have a great device that last for years and years... and years, but you avoid paying full retail. Depending on the car, the same logic applies.

Beats is the new bloatware.
Nonsense. What childish entitlement on your part. Thankfully someone else has already dismantled your misunderstanding of how retail and marketing work.

Never seen so many crybabies hating anything & everything Apple as I have on MR...the irony is sad.

I was waiting for this because I was set to buy a Mac but wanted free stuff, but I came up on an offer I couldn't refuse. Plus I already have the Beats Solo 3. I'm happy I didn't wait.

I agree, but EDU is only 10% less... used to be 14%, but you know, students are getting richer so they can spend a bit more.
I think if they applied a 20% discount during the Back to School period, they would sell millions of Macs.

$150 extra for Solo3 wireless headphones.

Interesting, since I picked these up for $129 at Best Buy about 2 months ago, on sale.

I got the iPad (it qualified) last week...

(edit... just re-read the article) I guess I should have waited, but then again, for things like headsets, I'm more of a 'get it when I need it' person, rather than a 'get them when I get them free' person. If the two coincide, it's a great day, otherwise, it's a good day.
