Took until post 71 before someone noticed this. Reverse charging has been rumored for years and I guess it actually exists on the iPhone 12. I wonder if we will get a chance to charge AirPods now?

Looking forward to all the disappointed reports by people whos batterypack slipped off the iphone.
Same reason you would buy an Apple silicone case for 45$ vs a 5$ amazon case - but yes, I agree. It seems a little overpriced and under featured. In typical Apple fashion. For 100.00 we at least got a case last time.

Having a few pre-release models of chinese exporters ... some concerns on Apple's official products are:
MagSafe strength - how strong is this?
Bulk - pictures look bulky, especially on the 12 mini so how comfortable is this to hold with iPhone.
Clarity - article mentions fast charging of 15w with lightning cable ?? as in charge MagSafe batt + that charges iPhone?
Why only charging at 5W when the official MagSafe spec allows 12w for 12 mini (presumably 13 mini), and 15W for 12/12Pro/12Max (all wireless specs).
Colours ... does it come in Black?
Same colours as current phone models:
Black, Product Red (a REAL red not this orange junk on the 12 models this year), Purple, Blue (light and deep navy blue).

Sounds like this thing can be wirelessly charged by plugging in the iPhone.

I really hate how Apple refuses to put power indicator LED's on any of their products anymore.
Screw an airtag this is the accessory I want, took them a while but so worth it, this would help me immensely during my travels

Because the SE doesn’t have MagSafe magnets.
Better than the ones that don’t stick to the iPhone at all, I bought a Belkin wireless battery pack and it was just free floating in my pocket, this will at least offer direct charging, but I still slip them in their travel case.

battery packs have been around for some time, i don't see how that will stop people from complaining about poor battery life.
Because you CAN rely on the actual charging specs and official reliability. Check the thread on 'MagSafe compatible' chargers and you'll see
1) a few ppl got ripped off with NO product ever shipping (4mths I was affected gave up got CC to pull the payment back).
2) wired and wireless charging claims don't match what the product REALLY does from third party early entrants.
