Who still buys iPods? Apple should've killed off the product since it's hardly necessary.

nah, I can see it being still somewhat... usefull. I can understand them not putting a lot of time or money into the line though.

I can still think of some remote case where iPods are more practical. For example, young kids < 16. I wouldn't buy them an iPhone, but an iPod might be a great starting place into mobile media. I know I was listening to 'portable music' when i was a kid, with walkmans. But I would never buy a kid an iPhone.

or when playing specific sports. where you don't want to have your phone on you, but music might help. Like downhill skiing or skating. Heck, I used to take a really tiny bluetooth player out when I played goalie, that i could put on top of the net and listen to tunes.

yeah, the usage cases have shrown considerably, but some still exist.

Why would you want to buy a iPod touch, you either buy an iPhone or go for the nano. This is just a iPhone with which you cannot make phone calls..... Its like a car without a motor.

Ahh because I don't have nor want a cell phone! So what is it that I can do?
I like the fact that I cannot make phone calls on anything. :)

I'm surprised by the A8 chip. I was expecting an A7. Pretty impressive for a $199 device (keep in mind even the latest iPad mini doesn't have an A8).

You know what's good about this? Apple shows it's possible to put advanced hardware (same chip and storage options as the iPhone 6) inside a super-small body (4" screen, thinner than an iPhone 6). I wouldn't be surprised if Apple comes up with a 4" iPhone that doesn't suck now.
Boom. iPhone SE.
