How can you tell?Apple support tells me the new ones were manufactured in September, what a waste of time this whole exercise has been then.
What should I ask?Go on live chat and ask them.
Give them the serial numbers of each AirPod and they can tell you when they were manufactured. What should I ask?
One of the replacements today I got starts serial "GX1D"
Didn't need it , I don't have it and they replaced itWell glad I got Apple care
coughing, yes, it happens to me tooI had a crackling issue before. When I cough it’s really annoying. But It just disappeared months ago.
All this time I thought it was my Tinnitus!coughing, yes, it happens to me too
Is this aimed at me please? Can you send a picture of what your talking about.
that's exactly what's happening.I hope they didn’t send a separate box for each individual pod.
The case does keep its capacity for longer, but it was still crap by the end of the two years. I would say close to half of what it was when I got them because I would have to charge my case at least twice a day by the end (I have my AirPods in for at least close to half of my waking hours every day).In my experience owning the original AirPods for two years, the case’s battery is actually still holding on its own pretty well.
The buds’ batteries have always been the ones which dragging the whole set down to a barely tolerable point. It’s too tiny to keep its charge for so long, and it deteriorates within months after you buy it.
The theory is you always cycle the buds battery 24/7. The case however didn’t get abused as often. You only charge it when you plug it in, and discharge only for when the buds sit in it.
Interesting. I probably charge my case twice a week compared to an iPhone that gets charged every day. Even with one charge a day, an iPhone battery will have about 95% maximum charge capacity after a year. I'm surprised you AirPods case got bad so quickly. The case does keep its capacity for longer, but it was still crap by the end of the two years. Like I said, I would use them for a large portion of my day, so they were constantly draining the case and I would charge it everyday. It wasn't until about right before the 2 year mark that the case wouldn't last me the whole day. The AirPods themselves would only last about 2-3 hours on medium volume. I would have to make sure that I charged them before I left my office or else they would likely die on the 1.5 hour bus ride home (the volume maxed made them last 1-1.5 hours). I don't really expect to have that problem with my Pros, especially since I have been working exclusively from home since the end of March and no longer have the long daily bus rides. I've had them for almost a year now (got them a week or two after launch), and although I just recently had both AirPods replaced I still have the original case. I charge it once a day since I plug it in when plugging in my phone, but I can go two days without having to charge my case. I pretty much have them on whenever I'm not in a work meeting or not sitting at my computer (have a headset for that).Interesting.
