Got my replacement Airpods yesterday. The crackling noise is gone but ANC is bad as before.

I can have a conversation with my wife 15 meters away in another room with ANC on. Normal?

Peoples voices is really loud in ANC mode. Had hopes that Apple has fixed that.
The ANC won't reduce it to zero noise, it isn't magic. But in my opinion it helps dramatically where there is constant and active noise in the background. Try activating ANC the next time you are on a bus or a train and it will sound amazing. Not quite the same when putting it on to drown out a crying 4 year old.

Fair point. But back in november -19 when AirPods shipped with first fw it was all quite.
Sometimes you just want to have your AirPods in at work with no music at all just to have dead silence.

If you go onto Apple Support and give them the new serial numbers, they will hopefully tell you the manufacture date and also if they're not included in the programme (which my replacements from September are not), they will have the "fix".

Well it sure doesn't look like huge boxes from a company who just decided to remove charging brick and earphones from its newest, most expensive phones for "environmental reason". LOL

One box could've fit both AirPods replacement, I assume?
I know right. And to top it off Apples instructions are for me to put a single AirPod in each box and send back both boxes.

Just ordered a replacement set after messaging thru the Apple Support app. My current AirPods have been previously replaced twice before, but I have continued to have crackling issues occasionally. Will be interested to see if there is a hardware version change with the replacements. I haven’t seen anyone post info on that so far.

No 1.0.0 it is

Anyone experienced the repair page updating correctly / had the card hold removed? I shipped mine back but the repair status page is stuck on “part shipment pending”.

Same for me and I’ve now shipped the defective AirPods back today.

It's a bit worrying because the repair page clearly hasn't moved on to "Part return pending", even though it should definitely be on that stage as I've already received the replacements AND returned my originals.

I want the £170 back as soon as humanly possible.

I got a new APP without changing the battery case. Now the firmware is at 2D27 and until now, I get no update. I opened the case for hours next to the phone, closed it but nothing.
Anybody else with this problem?

I don’t see any visual differences between the replacement ones and the old ones.
I got replacements (boy do they sound way better btw) and if you look very closely at the problem grille, the grille that presses against the side of your ear, and compare it to the old grilles, it seems like the new ones are recessed a little further into the body of the AirPod. So that it's less likely that pressing them up against your ear will eventually damage that component.

One can hope, anyway. I wonder if anyone else can observe this difference. I'd post a picture but the old ones are on the way back.

Really angry today.

1. Can't identify in any way if the replacements are old repair stock or manufactured after the October 2020 fix date. Apple won't tell me either.

2. My UPS tracking for the returned AirPods shows as "Delivered", so they have got my old ones.

3. Apple's Repair Status page is stuck on "The part that you requested is being prepared for shipment. It will be on its way to you soon."

4. Hold remains on my card.

Really sloppy process, especially sending each pod in packaging large enough to house a small child.

I have experience all of that except no 4. Money is back.

When did your returned AirPods reach Apple, as per tracking? How long after that did you get the payment back?
1 day. Shipped it yesterday at lunch, was delivered this morning and also the money.
But my repair status is stuck on awaiting replacement. So I guess the webpage has something fault.

Thanks. Similar timeframe to me. What country are you in?

I try everything. But until now no update. I let the case open for night and maybe....
There is also a discussion in the apple community about no updating and serial no. "?".

For me, the sound is great.. BUT the processing seems less quality! I've a small edge where the APP glue together. This locks cheap and not Apple like!

I just updated it 2 mins ago when I got my new pair. These are the steps I took.

1) Shut down and powered up my iPhone (doubt this makes an actual difference).
2) Put on my AirPods Pro and listed to a few songs for about 10 mins while making sure the case was plugged in and charging (I left the case closed).
3) Put the AirPods back in the case and closed the lid (while keeping the case charged). Also put iPhone next to the case.
4) Checked back 20 minutes later and went to Bluetooth settings and clicked on info for AirPods and see I have the newest firmware (originally had 2D27 this morning and now have 3A283).

ANE Super Loud Background Sound Problems —— I assume I’m not alone???

Since buying these things in May of 2020 I have had constant issues of crackling sounds, dropped calls and the worst - ANC issues where the listener hears all background noise so loudly they hang up on me. Offensively loud. Rustle papers sounds like an avalanche of papers. Wash your hands? Why are you calling me from under a waterfall? And so on. Along the way got a replacement pair with zero improvement.

So 2 days ago (Nov4th) I received my recall replacement pair of AirPod Pros. Zero difference. After taking 2 full days to update their firmware and populate the Serial Number field (yup was listed as “?” during that time I can verify there is ZERO DIFFERENCE in sound quality and ANC background noise quality. WHY is there a recall without fixing the problem??? I just got off the phone with Apple Support to make yet another appointment and was told based on the serial number they were manufactured in May 2020. So....basically I wasted an afternoon during COVID to go out, head to the store and have my newer Airpods replace with OLDER Airpods. Why why why Apple!??

Is anyone having a better experience with these issues? Getting units that were made AFTER October 2020? Isn’t that the point?

THANKS!
