Somewhat lost among all of the announcements coming out of WWDC last week, Apple on Monday introduced a new set of colors for the Beats Powerbeats2 wireless in-ear headphones, with the new colors matching the Apple Watch sport band options of black, white, blue, green, and pink.

Carrying the same $200 price as the original Powerbeats2 introduced last June after Apple had announced it was acquiring Beats but before the deal officially closed, the new versions are identical with the exception of the new colors. The new headphones have begun showing up in Apple's retail stores, where they are being given a significant amount of promotional space.

The Powerbeats2 have received mixed reviews over the past year, with reviewers disagreeing over whether the headphones suffer from the excessive bass that has been common with Beats products over the years. The headphones come with a set of ear tips in various shapes and sizes, and the listening experience appears to vary significantly for many users depending on which tips are used.

As Bluetooth headphones, the Powerbeats2 can connect wirelessly to a wide variety of devices, including the iPhone, iPad, and now the Apple Watch. With the Apple Watch's ability to store music on the device for playback via Bluetooth and serve adequately as an exercise tracker under certain circumstances even without a paired iPhone present, wireless headphones are proving to be a popular accessory for Apple Watch owners and something Apple has clearly chosen to capitalize on with the new Powerbeats2 colors.

    (Thanks, Ben!)

I'm quite happy with my Jaybird Bluebuds X, but I eagerly await new Apple designed bluetooth earbuds.

These are actually pretty good for the gym. Most gyms have their own music playing pretty loud and you need headphones where you only hear your own music: these do that perfectly, even if I'm listening to running cadences.

Bass is heavy but that's okay for the gym. Also wireless is a must so I can just use my AW and leave my phone in the locker room. If I hadn't just bought new ones two months ago I would get these colors.

For $200 on earphones, I expect Hi-Fi or at the very least cool B&O kind of design.

Poor design is correct. Obviously not "designed in California and made in China" rather "designed and made in China"... I Purchased a pair that failed, good luck getting support. Call apple, no call beats, no call apple. $45 ebay knock offs sound just as good I hate to say it. Apple earbuds that come with your iPhone are far superior in sound quality.

You're totally off base with your erroneous comments.

I got a pair for Christmas and love them. They're comfortable, they have good sound, and I can make and take phone calls with them.

These actually sound pretty good. Not $200 good, but good none the less.

Can anyone recommend some slightly better headphones (perhaps some which sound like Apple's more expensive earbuds, the ones that don't come with the iPhone) which are bluetooth and perhaps lower in price?

If you're gonna buy a pair of Beats, go for the Studio Wireless.

Does such a device exist which is small, takes a 3.5mm jack input, and turns any pair of headphones into a bluetooth headset?

If not, there's a Kickstarter idea. It'd be perfect for the Apple Watch.

The address for Tim Cook's new Apple: the intersection of Dated Technology and Conspicuous Consumption. Don't worry, the share price will ratchet upward -- just because.

I own a pair, pretty good. Really good for working out since the design does not allow the headphones to fall off.

Ugh...really regret buying black/red ones the week after getting my Apple Watch. Past the return date, but I'm going to call tomorrow to see the response I get. Those green ones are sweet.
