I quite enjoy my pair when I workout. My only thing with them is theres a delay that makes watching videos impossible while other BT headphones have no issue.

$200 for a pair of crappy headphones?!(imagine Steve Ballmer saying this with the same voice as when he said "$500 for a phone")

Seriously though, a pair of Xiaomi Pistons (v2 or v3) are way, way cheaper than this (you can get both for around $20) and sound amazing. If you want something better RHA 10i or Shure SE215.

This may be rather off topic, but does anyone else think Tim Cook should take more control over Apple, If I didn't follow Apple I wouldn't know he was the CEO.

New color; Same bad headphones.

I happen to own a pair of these and there's nothing "bad" about them.

For starters, I've tried many different in-ear headphones costing up to $200 and these are the only ones that stay reliably in my ears, no matter how much I'm moving around or how sweaty my ears get. This alone makes them an ideal candidate for any active person.

As far as audio quality goes, in-ear headphones will never sound as good as over the ear models. This is simple physics, folks. But to me these sound better than my previous in-ear headphones, the highly rated B&W C5, which, I might add, did a terrible job of staying in place despite their patented retention system. They are NOT too bass heavy. In fact, there's no such thing as "too bass heavy" when speaking of in-ear headphones.

I know a lot of you have an intense dislike of anything associated with the Beats brand, but I suggests you actually try out a product before opining its relative merits and failures.

Look back in the thread: hated by people who don't own these, loved or liked by people who do.

I'll stick with my Bluebuds X, but I won't judge the Beats unless I've used them.

Just buy Sennheisers IE80's and thank me later.
I have a feeling that half the people in this thread are missing the fact that this article is about wireless earphones. Otherwise, I don't quite get why people keep suggesting "superiour" wired earphones.

I think I will go to a bicycle shop now where I will walk up to people, telling them that I know a car that is much better than the bicycle they are about to buy. I want to see if people think that is bizarre or normal behaviour.

I think it's really funny that people get so upset over a product that they are not forced to buy. These are not for everyone, just because they have an Apple connection why do you have to love them? Apple don't make products just for you, or you, or even you, money make products for lots,of different people, and people buy this stuff.

I wouldn't buy these, but then I'm not in at market anyway, if I wanted a new pair of headphones I would be looking for something very different, I go for sound quality over aesthetics every time. But I'm also not in the slightest bit upset or annoyed that Apple have made these (beats/apple/whatever/same thing) and think it's funny we see comments from educated adults about how they can't look at them how terrible it is and so on.

I think we will see a lot more diversification from Apple over the next few years, a lot more product groups into new areas, new colours and styles for new markets, different demographs go for different styles and as Asia is a big market things will be made to appeal to them, especially as they have a lot more potential customers than the UK or the US.

You don't have to like or love every product Apple makes, most products won't be for you, you are meant to buy what you want and need not spend money on an item because of the logo and en get upset when you are called a fanboy.

Buy what you love and need and be happy, makes life a lot easier - there are some REAL problems out there in the big wide world you can get angry about, channel some of that frustration elsewhere maybe.

The point of beats isn't that they're de facto bad headphones, but that other brands offer same or better quality for less money. Sennheiser, AKG, Beyerdynamic...
Let me first say I used to be dead set against Beats without giving them a fair chance. The two things I've learned since the release of Apple music after reading all of the comments on these tech blogs are (1) how cheap most of you avid tech followers are and (2) how little tech people know about music. I tried all these headphones (Sennheisser, AKG, Beyerdynamic, and a bunch of other junk) these little YouTube nubbers said were the best, and they sucked. Don't know about the Powerbeats, but I got Beats Pro and they blew this crap away... Best sound separation I've experienced from a headphone. Maybe it's these little teeny boppers or 20 something justifying junk because it has a cheap price tag to make themselves feel better about not being able to afford better equipment...

One more reason not to buy an Apple Watch. /snark

I must say that I do have some Watch envy.

I finally received my fenix 3, and am getting used to it. I've already 'christened it' too, with a nasty scrape across the top. I haven't yet seen an Apple Watch 'in the wild', which is rather surprising considering I've seen a few fenix wearers. But perhaps I just notice them more.

I did see a watch on the display rack at the local Worst Try that looked a lot like the Apple Watch. They already have imitators... Interesting. If only the Apple Watch did ANT+.

What surprised me was that the wireless Powerbeats 2 apparently fit a small (possibly) percentage of people that do not have deeper ear canals. I've heard more carping and complaining about the fit of them. Someone needs to come up with an extension to the insertable tube so that more people can use them. I thought the sound was rather good, but walking around holding the things in your ears isn't conducive to a 'normal' life...

I own the Bluebuds X and I love the sound (only phone calls with them sound like you are speaking through a ten foot cardboard tube). Many people say they are the best wireless option, sound-wise. My main complaint is that they don't stay in my ears, and it seems many people have that problem. I had to buy soft earplug-type tips to be able to use them, and now they are "ok". But they'd never stay in throughout a workout session or while running. That's why I have been considering switching to the Powerbeats2.

It's nice to see a black pair without that horrible red logo but I think I'll stick to my plan of waiting for apple to redesign these.

I still have my Apple Bluetooth ear prong. The best damned ear prong that I've ever seen. It was a shame they stopped making it. So elegant... So delicate... So usable...

I couldn't keep the Bluebuds in either, however the Powerbeats 2 wireless were worse. Apparently most people have shallow ear canal beginnings, and different shaped pinna than I do. I also appear to have a waxier ear canal than 'normal', which lead to a love/hate relationship with a pair of Shure buds. They sounded excellent, IF they stayed in...

I've been relegated to a pair of Polk ultrafit 3000's (or Bose SoundSports) that stay in well, or the newer Apple ear buds, or, when traveling, my Bose over-the-ear ones. So far, no wireless ones fit and stay in. :(

:) I was wondering the same thing... All these recommendations for wired earbuds when the topic was really about the beats wireless / blue-tooth earbuds. I have the JayBird BlueBuds X Sport's and they are OK. They are great for working out that is for sure but they are not the best for staying put and they do stick out.

The day that Bose releases the QuietComfort 20i Noise Cancelling earbuds in a blue-tooth version is the day I spend $250-$300 for earbuds. I have these and several other Bose headphones and they are the best.

You want the best wired earbuds, get the QC20i otherwise my recommendation would be these beats or the BlueBuds since they are cheaper.

Really? I didn't think it could get worse. And I thought those over-ear "hooks" would help as well. Those little patent-pending "wings" on the Bluebuds don't do anything. They are a complete placebo.

I can only hope that my ear canal is a better match to the Powerbeats than yours.

The Apple earbuds don't work for my ears at all. I put them in, they fall out. That's it. I find it funny how Apple went on about how they measured so many people's ear canals to design them.

In any case, wired headphones are not an option for me anymore. I don't want to deal with the stupid cable. People can go on and on about how great certain wired ones sound (I also used to have excellent Sennheiser earphones, and yes, they sounded better than the Bluebuds). As long as they are not wireless, it's a pointless comparison.

The Beats Powerbeats2 Wireless headphones were reviewed last month by The Gadget Show in the UK.

They tested 8 pairs of Bluetooth wireless headphones, assessing them on comfort and fit (during sport activity), Bluetooth range and sound quality.

The Powerbeats2 came out on top, scoring 4.5 out of 5. They said the only reason it wasn't a 5 was the price.

The segments starts at around the 2 minute mark:

If I had a need for this type of product, I'd personally be inclined to give them a try.

Apple really need to decide what they want Beats products to be. It's too confusing. Should we consider all Beats branded products to in fact be Apple products and are Apple happy enough with the quality of them to lend them that name? Apple should put their logo on all of Beats' products if they want it to be absolutely clear.
No no no. It's plenty obvious you don't know a thing about marketing. Now while I don't....and won't ever buy a pair of Beats ANYTHING in regards to headphones, the fact is the name "Beats By Dre" and the "b" symbol on the headphone cups is iconic and the type of consumers that buy these types of headphones relate to the Beats iconic symbol. Even people that don't know much about "Beats" have seen kids and sports figures wearing those headphones and recognize the "b" on the ear cup.

As much as some people here may think otherwise, most people don't know Beats was bought out by Apple. You really have to keep up with tech to truly know that. It's not like anything has really changed. Apple was selling Beats headphones long before the acquisition. It's ruins good marketing to suddenly change the name or the icon on the headphones to Apple's. Maybe over time when the Music streaming becomes so large it makes more sense to have Apple's name on the headphones but for now, Beats sells......just not to me.

Apple has been immensely profitable under his leadership. Why does he need to do anything different????

And the day Apple starts selling straight trash to people has come.

Sorry, that day came decades ago during the non-Jobs era. Apple pushed out all sorts of garbage Macs and sold them in Sears and Montgomery Wards. Then there was Pippen. The 5300 PowerBooks. Dare I say the original iBooks belong on the list.

No idea what the quality of these headphones are or if they qualify as true "trash" or just "meh." Honestly, I've yet to listen to any BT earbud that can compete with a wired one in the same price range especially in the bass range. It's just where technology is right now.

I completely respect anyone's personal choices but while Bose (IMO) is still #1 in terms of just "noise canceling" the build quality of their products have severely gone down. The newer QC headphones are abysmal at best. Very cheap feeling plastic and the ear cup pads certainly don't appear to be real leather....not sure if they ever were. For $299 USD they simply aren't giving the consumer the quality come to be expected from legacy Bose.

But do consumers really need to know who the CEO is of the companies they patronize? Think about it, how many CEO's do you really know? I don't know the Macy's CEO, Walmart CEO, Target CEO, Bed Bath and Beyond, Williams Sonoma, Sur La Table, Bose, Samsung, Nike or Adidas CEO's. Unless you're an investor or a day trader it's not really important for anyone to know who the CEO is of a company. They're not rock stars.

The only reason why Bill Gates and Steve Jobs became "rock stars" is because they were the pioneers of the tech business. I'll bet most people still think Bill Gates is the CEO and runs Microsoft.
