And it’s not the first time they ever do it. They did it before with the Pride watchfaces, only on those previous ocassions people did discover the hidden watch face before it was officially released and activated it ahead of time by tweaking the date and/or time on their devices. It’s surprising that didn’t happen this time.
I was imagining that someone DID find the code for the new unity watch face, but there was text in there that said something like "Congratulations! You found the secret watch face line of code. Now please keep the secret to yourself and be a kind person to let the public discover the joy as well."

I absolutely love it and added it the moment, I got the notification.

I need the complications during the the day:

But I made another version right next to it for quick switching that looks really neat:

I also ordered the Black Unity Braided Solo Loop. So Apple marketing absolutely worked in my case…

Does anyone know why Apple doesn't let developers / user community develop watch faces? It'd be so cool to open this up to everyone instead of limiting choices.
Probably because a set few development teams will bugger up WatchOS or try to extract health data? Just a stab in the dark. A stab in the light = uniformity in finding issues, resolving issues, and knowledge base articles ;)

Delayed for me on the Black Unity Braided Solo Loop purchase - no ruler and no measuring tape which I swore I had around here. The hunt continues this late at night.

That's another really nice watch strap. Does anybody else find themselves ordering a smaller size every time they get one of these loop bands though to try and make them fit better for longer once the inevitable "sag" hits?

There is also new Hermes watch face!

I've not done it but i believe you can use automated shortcuts to make that switching of faces automatic.

The band looks very good but is too pricey for me. The watch face looks attractive but I found it hard to read the time at a short glance and the black area between the hour and minute hand is ugly at certain times of day and at first made me think there was something wrong with my display. So, nice try but a fail for me.

Yeah who needs things like Product Red… you’re asking for Apple to not be Apple.
I get it. Apple is increasingly an SJW company, so I'm not surprised. I just think it's a missed opportunity to do something even cooler. I love the design, but if they simply called it something like "glowy lights" and made the colors customizable, maybe with the crown like the kaleidoscope face, that would be more in-line with releasing awesome products for customers rather than checking a sociocultural box.

Simple reply is they are doing both. Given their numbers quarter after quarter and a loyal base, seems to be working. Personally I like their approach better than the Pillow Guy, as an example. Now I'll wait for someone to croak the inevitable ISheep etc comments.

My first braided solo loop lasted 10 months till it got too loose. I ordered a size smaller and it was just too tight. I suppose I could work to stretch it out. I really like the comfort and easy on/off, but after spending $200, I turned to Aliexpress. The material feels and stretches the same and they're really comfortable same as the official ones. But alas, they hit the "sag" in about 2 months instead of 10 months. But at $2 each, I just ordered 10 more. Much better color selection too.

I like it. The band is sharp.

Black “Unity” is an admirable quality. Im all for it. Love your identity.

But I think that Apple had some classic Silicon Valley self awareness issues with this particular watch face….?. I fear the backwards memes that may result.

I actually like and currently use the circular watermelon version of this watch face with indexes (monochrome is also nice, but I like some color on my watch face).

A thing I would wish apple would do, at least with this particular watch face, is to allow the colors to spread on the entire watch face but still allow the complications in the corners.

EDIT:// To clarify allow complications in the corners of the rectangle watch face, it would work for this watch face.

My Black Unity Braided Solo Loop arrived today. It might not be everyone's taste, but I really like it.

But more importantly, I am actually surprised by how comfortable the band is. Until now, I refrained from buying a Solo Loop on the assumption that it might be uncomfortable to wear. But it is really comfortable and fits perfectly. I am really happy with it.

I picked one up today. Love it.

same with the Nke ... exclusivity comes with a price
Yet the Nike+ models do NOT cost any more than the comparable Aluminum standard models feature for feature. The Hermes doesn't even give you anything unique - maybe porcelain or titanium but feature for feature (only the bands and the face is unique. Nike+ just the faces and bands. notice how each the latter, bands, can be purchased separately?

So the argument is why is Hermes editions so expensive if it's just about the bands (mostly)?
Why isn't the Hermes/Nike faces available on other models? exclusitivity yeah - but price isn't making that happen with the Nike+ models.

Got the Black unity braided solo loop. Must say it is extremely comfortable, well built and understated but classy. Enjoy carrying the theme across all my devices. I could wear this as an everyday band to work meetings as well as evening parties. Well done Apple
