Apple today updated its Returns Policy for the holiday period, extending the time in which holiday gifts and purchases can be returned in the United States.

Items purchased from the Apple Online Store that are received between November 10 and December 25, 2020 can be returned to Apple until January 8, 2021, offering holiday shoppers more than two weeks to make returns.

These dates are applicable for the U.S. store, but Apple also extends return periods in other countries as well. The time available for a return can vary by country, so before making an Apple purchase as a gift, it's worth checking the return policy where you are located.
Items purchased at the Apple Online Store that are received between 10 November and 25 December 2020 may be returned up to 8 January 2021. Please note that all other terms and conditions provided in the Apple Online Store Sales and Refunds Policy are still applicable with respect to such items purchased. All purchases made after 25 December 2020 are subject to the Standard Returns Policy.
Some items are excluded from the return policy, such as Apple and App Store gift cards, but iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Apple TV, and accessory purchases can be returned. Purchased devices can be opened and used prior to being returned, but they must be in their original packaging.

Purchases received prior to November 10, 2020 or after December 25, 2020 will be subject to Apple's standard 14 day return policy.

Along with announcing the new holiday return period, Apple today also shared its annual gift guide. The gift guide features holiday-themed Apple product graphics and suggestions for gifts like iPhones, AirPods, Apple gift cards, Apple Watch, HomePod mini, and more.

Okay first it says received between those dates. I put in a preorder for an iPhone mini yesterday. But it’s not due to arrive until November 27-December 3rd. So do I get the standard 14 days or the extended return period?

Your iPhone can be returned until January 8, 2021.

Purchased or Received by November 10th? What if we placed iPhone pro max orders on Nov 6th?

same question here. purchased on the pre-order day and will get it this Friday.

Hope there is a clear answer to this.

Cool! I guess if I don't like the new Mac Mini or MBA I bought today, I have plenty of time to decide.

I think two weeks is enough to decide on the Pro Max or if I need to return it for a Pro. I suppose I should have waited to order my Air 4 which is now 2 1/2 weeks in my possession.

Aren't you answering your own question? You purchased the phone on Nov 6th, will be delivered this Friday (the 13th). So you get the extended return policy since it is received after November 10th. Purchased is specifically for Apple physical store orders. Generally they count the days from the day you have the item in your possession. So for online orders, delivered/received day while for physical store orders, the purchased date.

It’s a huge consideration on Apples part that they do this and it’s no small gesture. Kudos Apple for this generous return period.
It's definitely good that they have been doing this for a while, as more and more companies are doing similar things as well.

Sucks for the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro folks, no?
Being an early adopter has its perks and disadvantages. They still have their 14 day window and I doubt too many were shopping for holiday gifts in October. I have a feeling if I had myself a 12 or 12 Pro I would be quite content right now.

It should be extended to the end of January at least since most of their products won’t be delivered until late November and early December.

The point is to give 2 weeks from Xmas to return gifts, but others will get more time than that to decide on whether or not to return. Note the 8th of January is exactly 2 weeks after Xmas.

Excellent... that will give me plenty of time to evaluate the M1 MBA I ordered this morning and see if it will be a keeper (or not).
