It’s a huge consideration on Apples part that they do this and it’s no small gesture. Kudos Apple for this generous return period.
This isn't really anything new. Retailers have been offering extended holiday return periods since I started working right out of high school.

That was almost 20 years ago.

I don't remember how long Apple has been offering extended holiday returns, but they've been doing it for at least the past 5 years now.

Some items are excluded from the return policy, such as Apple and App Store gift cards,

This may seem a bit like a nitpick, but aren’t they the same thing now? There’s only one Apple Gift Card that works on both digital and physical purchases as far as I can tell?

I ordered my 12 mini on saturday. I looked in the terms on apples website and can't find anything relating to the definition of "received" does this mean received by me, or the order received by apple. Seems very vague to me.

i just got off the phone w/apple support and when i asked about this, he had a strong "oh no, sir" re: any restocking fees (meaning, none). this ups my confidence a lot in demoing the M1, knowing that the holiday period gives me an extended time to try things out w/o serious buyer's remorse.

Yes there have been extended return windows offered by other retailers but I doubt you could name one that extended for nearly 2 months. Amazon is generous as well, but started doing this after Apple.
Also, I think it’s purely coincidental that retailers extended return periods coincided with your working right out of high school. 😜

I'm kind of surprised they launched the extended holiday return policy before they released multiple flagship products, but I'm not complaining.

I am tempted to purchase an iPhone 12 Pro Max and potentially even a 13" MacBook Air or MacBook Pro (probably better to wait for reviews/comparisons on those). This has probably been the most indecisive I've been regarding Apple products.

I placed an order on Sunday and received it today. I went online to start a return to see the date and it shows I have until January 8 to initiate a return. So it looks like it’s from the date it’s delivered/received.

Totally jelly. My order is sitting in “preparing to ship” limbo. Ordered on Friday.

Color me unimpressed. This should have started two weeks ago like most retailers. At least they could allow returns until the end of January.

Okay first it says received between those dates. I put in a preorder for an iPhone mini yesterday. But it’s not due to arrive until November 27-December 3rd. So do I get the standard 14 days or the extended return period?

Items purchased from the Apple Online Store that are received between November 10 and December 25, 2020 can be returned to Apple until January 8, 2021, offering holiday shoppers more than two weeks to make returns.

No need to be jealous... lol... it was just a iPhone 11 order as my other phone is broken. I ordered that as a backup and I will probably end up keeping it anyway. Still waiting on my 12 pro max to get here Friday and it still shows “preparing to ship”.

I can actually name more than one retailer that extended their return for more than 2 months

Walmart's extended holiday return started for purchases made beginning Oct. 16, 2020

Best Buy's applied to purchases starting Oct. 13, 2020

Target's extended holiday return period applies to purchases made starting Oct. 1, 2020

Amazon's extended holiday return period applies to items shipped beginning Oct. 1, 2020

Newegg's apples to purchases made beginning Nov. 1, 2020

The last day for returns/exchanges for the above retailers is between January 8, 2021 and January 31, 2021

To be fair, a variety of retailers have rather longer return periods as it is even without holiday period exceptions.

Hmm my 12 pro camera is like the se on crack & is bugging me out lol, so if mine that was delivered today even though it was ordered before 11/1, doesn’t become more comfortable to me near the end of my return, I’ll be going back if allowed. 🤷🏼‍♀️

This is perfect because i have both the iphone 12 mini and iphone 12 pro max coming on Friday. So this will give me alot of time without rushing to return it in 14 days.

Some items are excluded from the return policy, such as Apple and App Store gift cards, but iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Apple TV, and accessory purchases can be returned. Purchased devices can be opened and used prior to being returned, but they must be in their original packaging.

Purchased or Received by November 10th? What if we placed iPhone pro max orders on Nov 6th?
According to article it is clear in that its says date received not date ordered... so it would appear based solely on article that all Max 12's will fall under the late return deal :).

As they "deliver on the 13" ... I'd read the info on Apples site to be safe but they have quietly swung to delivered date a year or two back.

My iPhone 12 was received on 11/13, however the return page indicates I need to send it by 11/26 (standard 2 week return). Why is this, shouldn’t the extended return policy apply? I am based in the U.S.

I would just ask a Apple rep to be sure if extended return applies in your case
