Received my Baltic blue leather case in the mail just now. I gotta say the leather this year is really hard like plastic.
Last years definitely had a smooth and soft texture to it.

Magnets in the iPhone 12 aren't strong enough to hold any accessories securely.
I purchased the leather wallet and had no issues with it. If your sticking your phone into a really tight pocket you have to open your pocket before putting your phone in.
Only reason I returned it is because of the weight: it makes the heavy iPhone 12 even heavier. Was nice using the phone naked and have it float on top of the wallet. Still, with a leather case AND leather wallet i can only imagine what a burden the iPhone 12 Pro max will be like.

Disappointed. Thought this was a new and even larger size screen iPhone... like how Microsoft has Surface, Surface Pro, and Surface Studio.

Makes sense but why not both, I had to edit my own version of their stock photos to try and figure if I liked the look, only to then have leather cases show up on pre order day because why would apple make out lives easier by letting us know in advance 😅
Ha! I edited their photos trying to figure out what I like too. I totally agree that they should have released this earlier, I just explained what I expect their reasoning was.

EDIT
Another reason I had to edit their photos is that when reviews and hands on videos started coming out I realized Apple’s pictures are very misleading when it comes to color.

Colours are really hard to portray though, an image on screen various depending on the screen quality and accuracy(Apple have always nailed accurate displays), the video can be misleading depending on their lighting colour and temperature, the white balance of the camera and the colour corrections in the editing suite which then Ince again. relies on their display being accurate. lots of little things that always mean no one can every properly portray a colour to the end user aside from that person going and looking at it themselves.

This is disappointing. I always like to get the official Apple case, but this gives me pause and makes me consider looking at other brands.
Are there other makes that come close to the quality of Apple’s own? I would like more colour options, but I’m hesitant to randomly pick a make..

I totally get that, but apples photos of the cases have been consistently lighter and less saturated than reality, and their photo of the 12 blue is much greener than reality. (I’ve seen it in store) I do think that the colors in the iPhone web app are more accurate though.

Ah jeez... Made me wish they had this option for the iPod Socks.

Why are they wasting time on helping people with no sense of design and colors (i.e., brown socks with black shoes!) when they could be wasting time fixing all the bugs in all their software in all their various iterations. I think Apple software would be much better if they would go back to charging $129 for the OS. Offering it for free just gave them the excuse to be sloppy with their releases.

For some reason, Apple really seems to like putting weird looking bumps on their phones after investing thousands and thousands of hours of R&D effort into making them as thin and flat as possible.

I think it’s more that, no matter HOW well Apple designs their phones, they know that there’s a large number of folks out there that want, more than anything, to have more battery capacity. And those folks are wiling to invest combined MILLIONS of dollars in order to make that happen, darn the humps! :)

Sooooo... they release this after the 2 major pre-order days... why on earth wasn't this a feature prior to the releases?

It depends how you use them, the wallet case will be fine if people get used to putting their phone in and out of tighter pockets just a tad more securely
It should have been. Still, lots of people will be waiting for weeks until their phones arrive, and can use this feature.

Just picked mine up yesterday and it’s noticeably thinner than the folio case I got last year. Looking at the camera cluster, you can see that the one was so thick, there was a depression down to the level of the cameras. This one’s so thin, they need a ridge (of hard plastic?) around the camera cluster for protection. I’m guessing it’s due to MagSafe.

Tell me I’m not the only one who thinks Apple should have just built the card pouch onto the leather case itself...
Actually I disagree, I have the folio case and the one thing I miss is the regular case, the folio is too thick but its far nicer than carrying a wallet with me. At least with this modular design I can remove it or add it whenever I wish, meaning I only carry the bulk when I have too.

Yeah it definitely makes the silicone case feel nicer in the hand. Going to use this plastic feeling leather case for a week and decide whether I’ll keep it.
