I had an appointment on December 21st to have the battery replaced in my X. I dropped it off at 1:15pm and came back at 3pm and was given a replacement X, since the one I dropped off was broken in the process. I have AppleCare+, so I didn’t pay anything.

I mailed my phone in but they returned it saying they could find no fault. Was pretty annoying to go through all of that hassle to get the phone back with no fix. They think the freezing issues I saw was software related but it happens across all different apps.

Hi!

Well I had an appointment to get my iPX-Screen replaced in mid-November.
My problem always was that Tap to wake wouldn’t always work and additionally that it sometimes required multiple attempts at tapping something (e.g. the send button in WhatsApp or the delete key on the keyboard).
Long story short I was pretty unlucky, as the employee persisted on evidence that I had those problems (which I don’t have because how do you screen record that something is not being pressed), as it passed all display tests. He said it really isn’t a problem until it randomly does things on its own and if it starts doing that I can come back.

I had the exact opposite experience. Went in for a battery swap, mentioned the program. Did both tests (passed) and they replaced it anyways. Was 100% hassle free.

Well I guess i had no luck with my genius, he even tried to convince me not to swap my battery and rather get it serviced after the battery service fees are higher again.

The rep I had tried to convince me not to get my battery replaced and continue to use my 13 month old X with a 89% battery capacity. I was persistent and got them to change it out, but ended up having the device replaced since it was broken during the replacement.

Since yesterday morning, the replacement X that I received on 12/21/18, has been freezing with me repeatedly doing a soft reset. It happens at least 3-4 times in a hour. I spoke with a rep who want me to reset the phone and revert back to 12.1.2 and hoping it’s not hardware. I have appointment booked for next week.

mine is the same as well, i haven't contacted Apple yet. The rep when i was there said if this happens again in the future then its software and not hardware. Funny how it worked fine for 3 weeks.

will Apple still replace the display if I've replaced the iPhone X battery myself? the warranty ran out at the beginning of January

Apple today announced a new display replacement program for the iPhone X, which will see the company replacing iPhone X displays that exhibit touch issues.

According to Apple, some iPhone X displays can experience problems with responsiveness due to a display module component that can fail. Affected devices have a display or part of a display that does not respond to touch or responds intermittently, or a display that reacts without being touched at all.

Apple says that customers experiencing this issue can get a replacement display module from an Apple retail store or Apple Authorized Service Provider at no cost.

There is no serial number check nor specific time period that outlines when affected devices were sold, so presumably this display component failure can impact any iPhone X device. Complaints about ghost touches and displays that fail to respond to touch have been circulating on the MacRumors forums for several months now, dating back to when the iPhone X was first released.

iPhone X users with a display that has these symptoms should visit an Apple retail store location, find an Apple Authorized Service Provider, or contact Apple Support to arrange mail-in service to get a replacement.

Apple recommends customers back up their iPhones to iTunes or iCloud before pursuing repair, and the company warns that other damage, such as a cracked screen, may need to be addressed before the display repair can be completed.

This Apple program does not extend the standard warranty coverage of the iPhone X, and repairs may be restricted or limited to the original country of purchase. The program covers affected iPhone X devices for three years after the first retail sale of the unit.

Apple says that if customers affected by this issue already paid for a repair, they can contact Apple Support for a refund.

After several months experiencing this problem, I took my phone to the apple store. 90 mins later I had a new screen. When I arrived home I couldn’t believe I was seeing a dead pixel on the bottom right - plus still had areas that would not always respond to touch. iPhone X probably the biggest disappointment out of the previous 7 I’ve own. Going back to store tomorrow for a display replacement.

Did you get a replacement?

Just chiming in, I just got my iPhone X screen replaced. Went in to get my Macbook Pro screen fixed under warranty, where the blacklight of the screen was fading out. The Genious saw my screen and noticed a vertical green line down the center, which happened after I dropped it (no crack, due to case). The screen still worked, except the green line made it difficult scanning bar codes when I pickup my Amazon locker purchases.

The genious said they can repair it at no charge due to the iPhone X multitouch issue. That was so cool that he volunteered that info, since I was willing to pay for it. 5 star service. :) :apple:

Hey I was wondering is your iPhone X still on warranty? I had my display replaced when they announced this program and also I had them replace my battery. But about a month ago my display problem came back. Display freezes and i have to forcibly swipe up for MINUTES for it to unlock. And if it doesnt recognize my face and I have to get to passcode window its even worse.
My 2 year old iphone is outside of warranty so I wonder if there is even a point of me going there. Although replacement program is for 3 years.
