nice! love the specs. but 5400rpm stock drive (should be 7200) and no higher res screen options is giving me the poops though. US store still down for me

No. 7200 rpm drives adversely affect the battery life. Most people don't need it and wouldn't understand why their battery doesn't last as long as advertised.

I don't know if it's the same in the US, but in Switzerland the price for the 13" (I can't remember other prices) actually dropped from 1499 CHF to 1399 CHF, that's pretty much 100$.
Not bad.

As for the battery life, I think it didn't get worst, I just think that before it was 10h of I don't know what, now it's 7 of wifi web browsing (what people do the most),

Battery Life

wtf??? what is this crap??? 7 hours battery time on the 13"

If I read correctly, the reason that the battery life is lower is because they test them differently and more rigorously now.

the 15" model with anti-glare screen now do not have the black frame around the screen
is this a new change or has it always been that

Loving the updates. Thunderbolt is already starting to ring, (lol) and the processor upgrades are top notch.

Hey guys, it's also worth noting that they updated the Mac OS Lion section with new info and listed features. Check it out.

Now THIS is newsworthy. So far I'm really liking autosave/versions and resumé. Mail 5's cool, and AirDrop may or may not be useful. XD And Lion Server? meeeeeehhhhhhhh...

haha

Can you whiners please S T F U??? Seriously!!! You got your update. It's actually a very good update. SO STOP THE BITCHING and ENJOY it!!!!! :)

Finally a voice of reason.

This is very simple:

Apple puts out a product..

you like....you buy
you don't like, you don't buy

The end:)

Noticed that too. Hoping either:

1) It was 7 hours before, and I'm misremembering.

2) It's a typo.

If the battery life for the 13-inch laptops has indeed *dropped* 3 hours, I'm totally skipping these.

Used to be 10 hours for the 13-inch and 8-hours for the 15-inch.

Unless the 6490M turns out to benchmark much higher than the 330M GT I'm keeping my 15" for now...

They have dropped 3 hours. It was 10 before.

Your point? It's still a dell....

Ew.

WAY.

WAYYYYYYY too expensive.

$1799 for the 15"?

I would have been tempted for the 13" but the fact it's lacking
- At least the same screen resolution as the Air doesn't even make sense
- What happened to the "Instant On" 16GB SSD rumors?
- No graphics card? Even the MAC BOOK has a graphics card.

Try again please apple =).

Why can't Dell or HP make decent laptops to compete?

Can you whiners please S T F U??? Seriously!!! You got your update. It's actually a very good update. SO STOP THE BITCHING and ENJOY it!!!!! :)

And as a macrumors regular... your actually suprised that people whine after ANY update?????

Put away the Apple pom poms... and just get real, this is macrumors, no matter what apple releases there will be disapointment.

As annoying as the whinning is, so are reponces like yours... So feel free to tell everyon why the update is so awesome.....start with the battery, seems to be the current theme...

No resolution bump on the 13'? What an absolute joke!

Looks like i'll just be getting the 13" Air. Why on earth would Apple not even give us the option to BTO the 1440x900 panel?

I assume it has something to do with the Intel graphics not being able to drive the resolution but still...most customer's surely would take a better res over i5 and downgraded graphics. Major dissapointment.

On the up side...Lion looks awesome.

Facetime HD seems cool. It would be nice if there was a way to utilize one of the several USB 720p webcams that are currently on the market for existing Macs.

It's not uncommon for Apple products... Look at the AppStore, the iTunes store, etc.. The price around the world are always higher than in the US.

Look at the iPhone...
