Having a new Mac means I am now able to update my Mac OS for the first time in a while. But I think I'll wait before I do or read comments from those who have to see if their are any issues.

Definitely does not feel snappier at all for me on a m3 max. Feels literally the same, same frame drops on animations, etc

Resizing windows, moving them around still looks like garbage, as if it just drops frames all around / unsyncd from 120hz.

Try using tiles, just doesn't feel snappy/smooth at all. I was hoping this version would be more performant and more in line with what I expected from this ridiculously expensive machine.

I don't have any apple silicon

I also don't use 120hz monitor

14700k/6800 feels even smoother than it already did

2012 mini seems to have gotten a bit of a boost as well

I tried tiles in the first betas but I use amethyst anyway which does so much more. didn't notice any issue with responsiveness

Excellent new might hop on over my hackintosh. other then this iMessage issue works well over m1 MBP

I've got iPhone mirroring to work - it was Lulu blocking it; I manually added /Applications/iphone mirroring/Contents/MacOS/iphone mirroring to the user allow list and it started working.

Now to see if I can fix Apples broken iCloud tabs!

iPhone mirroring and the new Passwords app will be useful. Hopefully in the coming versions, users are given more control over screen recording permissions

I deeply regret updating my Mac Pro 7,1 to Sequoia last night. Half of my apps are completely frozen, including many of Apple’s own native apps such as Safari. I feel like my whole system is kinda bricked now. BEWARE. DO NOT UPDATE.

Yeah, you're on a hackintosh. Last time I did that it ran much better lmao.

Literally on the latest apple silicon and they can't even optimize this piece of garbage OS to it.

I already had these issues with Sonoma btw. Just didn't get any better whatsoever. Also, does seem to take longer to boot up compared to Sonoma.

I am deferring updating to Sequoia - probably for a few days, possibly a little longer. Will see how it goes with the brave souls and those getting new machines with it already installed.

But I am glad I have just noticed the Sonoma and Safari security updates. Those are going in right now.

Despite being mentioned in the main article, I read straight past that and only noticed when I went to see whether Sequoia was actually available to me now. The notes identified these other updates.

Does it still have the inane Windows Vista inspired "security"? I reverted from the Beta (3 or 4 cant recall) - first time in 10+yrs - because I just couldn't handle the 500th popup that asked me if I was really sure for real that I want to let my screenshot app and meeting app look at my screen?

They supposedly changed it to "it resets monthly" (or is it weekly?), but even that is just not ok for me... It seems apps can use some API to workaround it? have popular apps updated? Shottr, Chrome & Zoom were the ones driving me insane...

honestly never had the need/desire to do so, but I'm sure there are plenty threads here in the MacOS forums where that is discussed. I had been running the public betas on my M1 MBA for like 2 years, never had a real issue, I "upgraded" it to a 13 iPad Air a couple months ago and installed the public beta of iPadOS, no issues there either ...
I am not going to put Sequoia on my Mac for a while anyway, just to see how things go with other people. As i said, i want to know how far Apple is going with this AI stuff and how easy it is to disable, if it can be. If it can't then I will stay as i am

The window tiling functionality is just another stupid evil design by Apple. It literally wastes space, makes your content less easy to focus on.
Here's hoping companies like Altab fix what Apple just broke. There isn't even an option to turn it off.

It took them a quarter of a century to reinvent the wheel, and the come up with this hexagonal clunky BS?

Oh and also I only now discover that almost all the new major features are blocked in Europe : AI, iPhone mirroring...

Another big drop indeed.
It sounds a good idea, that is one of the things I missed from Windows when coming over to MacOS

Great that they put the iPhone mirroring app straight up the eyesight on EU users and when you click it its like "ops sorry, not for you mate"... damn it, they just had to rub it into our face.

Nah, I know exactly what Im saying and doing. Been in the mac environment longer than you

macOS has been trash since Lion, where they started prioritizing features and bloat (to impress shareholders) over optimization and fixes.

I always stay one major release version behind, or update with new hardware, whichever comes first.
Bah... This is amateur speak. I've been around since the Apple II days. I always update early, and can't recall ever having any major issues on my end.

Upgraded yesterday and so far so good. The only issue Ive come across so far was the "new mail" count was off between my iPhone and Mac. But that cleared up after toggling my email accounts on and off.

Finally got it installed. It took about 11 hours to download , prepare, and install! I had to leave it overnight and hope for the best. So far, so good, but wow, that's crazy.
