That would be $ 129 please!

That doesn't really make any sense, if you give consideration to the context of this thread. We're talking about a wireless charging solution that already exists. If then on the "iPhone 7" wireless charging is added, you would be able to use said solution.

Thanks for the reminder that $29 for a cable is ALSO an incredible rip-off.
Why is that a rip off? Because of the cost of the material? I'd say you misunderstand the value of the accessory that allows your iPad to keep working.

Sarcasm and joke not detected?

By that logic, a power cable should cost as much as the device it powers.

Sorry, but Apple charging $30 for a lightning power cable... which authorized suppliers such as Amazon make and sell for $7... is ridiculous, especially considering that Apple's own version is poorly designed junk that falls apart. I know, I've spent way too much replacing them for all the iOS devices we have around the house.

And I'm certainly not alone in thinking this. Even on Apple's own online store, these cables only average two stars out of five in reviews.

Every time one of my 1M cables break, they fall under my iPhone AppleCare. So they get replaced for free. I don't see Amazon doing that... So I'll gladly pay the extra and get replacements as needed.

Something that gets used a lot, falls apart quicker. I've had Lightning cables fray and break up on me as well. But not just Apple's. Plenty of other MFI cables. They all do the same thing.

There is some correlation between how many cables people have and how much damage they see occur. When all you have is the one cable that ships with your device, you use it constantly, and its more prone to breaking. Then people go out and by a bundle of 3 or 4 cheap Amazon cables, and assuming they all work, the load now gets spread around much more across multiple cables, and you see far less wear. Leading people to incorrectly conclude that the $7 Amazon cables must be better.

I'd be cautious even with cables that have MFI logos on them. There is a reason why Apple's cables are $19 and Amazon's are $7 and it is not just Apple greed.

What a ridiculous price for a charger.

The watch doesn't even fit properly on the base and the straps hang off the end.

Apple you have failed us with this crap.

I know I'm going to get lynched for this but I couldn't care less. Many people on this forum know I tried and disliked the Apple Watch. I found it pointless then, and I find it pointless now. I really don't like it. Slow, really fugly, needs constant charging, massively overpriced and with a limited life-span.

Moreover, this really does concrete my feelings about the Apple Watch. It's basically a hub for ridiculous accessories!

€420 watch
€150 bluetooth headphones
€150 for more bands
€100 for a sodding stand. (Which will probably be defunct in 2 years anyway)

That's €820!!!! And we're talking about the cheapest Apple Watch.

This watch exhumes consumerism but in a terrible way!

P.S. I know so many people who've bought one...and they're back to their original watches. Most of the Apple Watches sold are probably on eBay....

Everything you listed with the exception of the watch is optional.

I appreciate that, but then I might as well buy a Withings Activité (which I did).

No stands, no headphones, no bands needed. (I can also use standard 18mm if I choose to change it).

Wait. Your response to the Apple Watch and its accessories being overpriced is to buy a $450 quartz watch with a glorified fitbit inside?

I know. I shouldn't feed the troll but really?

Anyway, as far as the Apple stand goes, I may end up getting it. It is probably about $20 overpriced, but it sounds like those that have actually seen it really like it, and the alternatives, while cheaper, either look horrible or aren't nightstand mode compatible. I mean the Spigen is priced well, but it's an ugly piece of plastic with "SPIGEN" plastered across the front. Plus they almost all angle up, which for bedside use in nightstand mode won't work for me as I am only slightly above eye level to my night stand.

What's wrong with the nightstand by elevation labs.

I have 2 of them. They are fantastic.

Talk about being late to the party.

I didn't pay close to $450 for my Withings Activité, (and they sell in the great ol' EU for US$124 for the Pop version).

However back to the point I was making originally. This just shows how ridiculous the whole Apple Watch ecosystem is and insane you need to charge it so much, Apple have had to create a stand for it. What's next? A battery pack?

And the reason I touted the Witihings and went for this instead, it does what I need. It's a quality product that looks great on my wrist and the battery lasts 8 months! No need for stands, chargers, extra bluetooth headphones, etc, etc....

Anyway. Enjoy your night stand and you Apple Watch.

The 2 star rating (for apparently not holding onto the watch and therefore not charging) and cheap looks. Plus at $29.95, if you were to buy the charger for the watch ($29) you are looking at almost $60 for a not so attractive (read cheap-looking) charger that may or may not work.

Look, I agree that Apple are charging more than they should for this stand, and looks are certainly subjective, but it seems like all of the alternatives people are touting are not so hot themselves. I want a nightstand mode charger that doesn't look like it belongs in a dorm room and works reliably. So far, the only one I have found is the Apple version unfortunately.

ignore those ratings. again I have two of them and they are great. they do not feel cheap at all to me.

the red flag in the reviews is this: "or apparently not holding onto the watch". The charger you use is APPLES. The stand doesn't come with one so how can you blame elevation labs for APPLES weak magnet? Again though, they work fine.

I like ankers cables- I also find if your attentive and treat your cables (and everything else for that matter) gently, ur golden- I also have white duct tape for repairing or reinforcing weak or damaged areas-

Just got apples watch dock, was the best nightstand mode option I saw, really high quality looking and feeling- I recoiled at the price at first, but decided to try it for a bit and decide Ina week and a half or so to keep it or not- I think I will ;)
