Hmm, this will surely make me consider upgrading from my iPad Air 1st gen. 1GB RAM in 2019 isn't much and it effectively maxes out at iOS 10 since iOS 11/12 simply don't run too well. 16GB storage isn't great either.

Now, it depends on the pricing on Europe. Let's hope they don't exceed the €550 mark for the 64GB/WiFi model.

So the only difference between this and the Pro is the bezels?

Love the intro price tag. Seriously, it's great.. 500$ is what i paid for my Air 1.

Bezels, speakers, 120hz screen, and FaceID. It’s effectively a remix of the now-retired 10.5” Pro, with an A12 powering it. If you’ve go the cash to splurge above the base iPad, it’s a good buy.

Did you really expect new airpods to be released without being seen at an event first,

I expect new products to get a debut but an improved product not so much unless they can tie in some major new feature, like airpods that monitor your health when used with the watch... and so on

Without quad speakers and 120 Hz.

I just picked up an ex display 10.5 pro for £399, The £479 price point for the Air isn’t unreasonable but I’ll stick with the pro for now although any word on the RAM of the Air? Has it retained the pro’s 4gb?

PS - Can anyone else see the 10.5 pro on the apple store any more? Looks like its been dropped for the Air.

Like the laptop lineup, MacBook, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, now iPad, iPad Pro, iPad Air. Oh, and iPad mini. What happened to the simple product matrix?
You mean like how the MacBook Air is the thin model, but the MacBook is thinner? And then we have the iPad Pro.. and the old iPad Pro 10" mode.. with an iPad Air.. or... whatever. What a pain.

Edit: Apparently the iPad is cheaper than the iPad Mini... what a mess. Wow.

Deeply interested in the new Mini, but I think it might have to wait for a sale price. Seems like an uncomfortable value proposition next to the base-model iPad.

I think the 10.5 is a solid machine for someone who wants the Smart Keyboard and the Pencil. I have a first-get 12.9, and if it died I would probably get this unit. With the new 12.9, I need to replace everything. At least with the 10.5 I can keep my Pencil.

This unit to me feels like the iPad version of the old 11" MacBook Air. A great machine for writing on the go with a minimum of fuss.
