Does A10 Fusion = A10X Fusion? Or is there a difference...
The A10 fusion processor was used in the iPhone 7, as the A10X was used in the iPad Pro’s.
Does A10 Fusion = A10X Fusion? Or is there a difference...
Also, the display on the current 9.7" was pretty far back from the cover glass and wasn't all that great feeling, and I imagine at this same price point that compromise was made againYes in the respect that it has a more up-to-date processor and Apple Pencil support, however, I’m also willing to believe the new 9.7 iPad lacks the laminate display, which can be an issue with reflectivity.
It’s not the chip from the pro’s, it’s the chip from the iPhone 7.. If it had a laminated display I’d be all over this..Does A10 Fusion = A10X Fusion? Or is there a difference...
Curious if leaving out the "X" means the chip will be any different from the iPad Pros.
Thoughts?
Apple today announced an all-new 9.7-inch iPad, describing the tablet as its "most affordable iPad" yet and confirming it will work with the Apple Pencil. The device has 10 hours of battery life, an 8MP rear camera, LTE option, A10 Fusion Chip, GPS, Touch ID, HD FaceTime Camera and more.
The iPad will cost $329 for consumers and $299 for schools.
The new iPad was announced alongside new versions of iWork programs including Pages, Numbers, and Keynote, all supporting Apple Pencil as well.

To retain the $329.00 price point the 2017 9.7 iPad did, I highly doubt this new 9.7 iPad with Apple Pencil support has the laminate display Included.
Doubt it, considering iPad doesn't run desktop versions of Adobe software. An actual Wacom tablet would be more useful to someone who's doing graphic design in creating content than an iPad with a stylus.
A graphic designer wouldn't use iPad for any kind of primary work, because it's simply underpowered for it, no matter how much smoke Apple tries to blow up everyone's butts. At best, it can be used with some non-industry standard apps to sketch some stuff, but that's about it. It would probably do better job using non-graphic design apps for some other "on the side" work.
No graphic designer would ever, ever use an iPad
Are you speaking from experience? I’ve produced some products using the iPad Pro as the primary tool. Not saying that’s a standard practice but at least the iPad Pro is more than capable of outputting production ready files.
They continue to miss the mark. Why is there no Apple smart keyboard. Teachers and students have made it clear that typing directly on the screen is a no-go for students. Yes, there are third party Bluetooth solutions, but it’s one of those “your mileage may vary” situations. How could you not have this standardized? The stinginess knows no end. Yes, it may cannibalize iPad Pro sales, but then again, you’ve also got another $170 tied up on the purchase of the Smart Keyboard. It’s clear that they want the market, but schools won’t be converting to these iPads. Not aggressive enough.
Wonder if it will work with Shared iPad, would be nice. Until now, it could not.Yeaaaaa they kept Touch ID! I suppose Touch ID is now their low cost authentication mechanism. Higher end devices will have Face ID. Fine with me.
Now what about non-profit pricing?
Yes. You can't compare a fully loaded desktop to an iPad Pro. If you want to doodle some stuff for JPEG/web purposes, then it might be ok. If you want to create some DOC file type of stuff, then sure, but for real print or complex UI work, it not of much use. Like I said, it can be a side-tool to help with the main tools, but it doesn't replace the main tool itself.
I’d argue that, as a student, being able to use and attach an Apple Smart Keyboard with an iPad is a lot more useful than support for an Apple Pencil which isn’t even included in the still premium price of a lower end iPad.
That being said, even though we have mostly Apple products, my teenager’s 2 year old asus Chromebook still does everything she needs it to do and has 0 support for any type of stylus AND costs less than $300 brand new.
Is this specifically for graphic design schools?
They couldn’t even shrink the bezels...
Great for my son who dropped his iPad and smashed the screen, plus as a bonus cheaper than the last model. Will be buying one.
False. The iPad leather sleeve is, lol. But next to that I would say the Smart Keyboard. It's kind of a piece of crap too. I barely use mine and it fell apart at the seams within months. At least they replaced it for free.Great question..
The pencil has to be one of the more overpriced accessories they sell
Nobody is saying it will replace the main tool in the same way a chrome book or any iPad will NOT truly replace a laptop or MacBook.
I disagree on not being able to produce prinnt ready files with an iPad Pro but I do agree that UI work would be near impossible without a lot of work arounds although affinity designer on an iPad might change that.
