You just compared an iOS app to a human life. You realize that right? You understand just how severely distorted that analogy is right?
It's breathtakingly moronic.
I take refuge in audacity.

What bridges have you driven off of by using Apple Maps?
More specifically - how has a mobile app impaired your quality of life exactly?
It's a phone right?
You totally missed the point in the post you just quoted...
"What bridges have you driven off of by using Apple Maps?
Not only that, he keeps missing the quote button.![]()
Honestly, I've always used MapQuest. Seriously, give it a try. Turn-by-turn directions, voice guidance, and it's free!
It's called Public Relations aka PR. He was forced into making an "apology". (For an app that works just fine.)
I'm not making an apology. It works fine for me and the MAJORITY of its users.
^ Just hit the "Quote" button specifically for you.
Happy with the results?
Maybe I should "whine" about it until Mac Rumors issues an apology and fixes such a glaring issue on their forums.
It would make the forums a better experience in the long run right?

What has been your own personal experience using Apple Maps and how has it affected your quality of life?
Pretty sad. All Apple needed to do is call it a beta and keep the existing maps on there until an update when it was ready.
Open suggestion to Apple. Sell upgrades to iOS 5.
Everyone has emotion invested in the things they like.
As a skeptical, independent atheist I'd like to think that I keep an "open mind" when it comes to claims.
In this instance... I think it's obvious. The vocal minority (along with the chastising Android fanboys) have created a field day for the media... which in turn created a headache for Apple. (Who responded appropriately.)
Apple Maps works fine. It's not perfect - neither is Google Maps.
The main issue is that Apple Maps is not up to par with Google Maps. But Google Maps wouldn't be where it is right now without Apple.
But none of that matters. Google wouldn't include important features so Apple decided to go it alone. And their Map application is awesome. Not perfect... but still a helluva Map application.
The simple fact is, it's all over the news because there is a very real backlash because there is a real issue here. Don't downplay it, you're not helping the situation, you're making these threads worse by insisting that people with "issues" are "overblowing". These posts you and others do, insisting that "all is fine, the problem is people whining!" are just serving to enflame the people who do have issues and want to be heard.
It would be nice if Apple could put Google maps back with an update. This can't be that difficult?
There's a "real issue" with the link that you previously posted that claimed iOS Maps was "missing" hundreds of "cities/towns" in Ontario, Canada. The list that guy developed is riddled with names that don't show up on Google Maps either, and technically don't even qualify as cities or towns.
Impossible, because Google is reserving some features of its maps app for Android. I don't fault Google for that.
Amen someone with common sense, apple isn't making things worst but apple "fans" do with their arrogant way.How do you define the majority ? Did you do studies, surveys ? What was your bassin of population for your survey ? What's your error margin ?

Apple has heard the people with issues. The PR proves it. I don't know why you feel after all of this the need to insist it's overblown. Make your point and move on, stop creating havoc and anger in these threads with your posts suggesting the users have no real issues when they do.
Take-home message: Apple will improve its maps software and this will be looked upon in future as a tempest in a tea cup.
I've seriously had no problems with Maps, and I have used Voice Navigation almost daily since the release... Apology unwarranted!!
Riddled ? You pointed 1 example.
And some are completely missing from Google Maps as well, like Badjeros, Ontario.
That doesn't mean that iOS 6 Maps shouldn't include community or area names, but it's also highly misleading to claim that they're "cities/towns".
It was the very first name on the list, and if you continue to check these supposedly missing "cities/towns", you quickly find that many of the names listed are community or area names, not actual cities or towns. Baxter, Ontario is an example of that. Essa, Ontario is a township and Baxter is a community name within that. And some are completely missing from Google Maps as well, like Badjeros, Ontario.
