Keeping your battery at %100 for longer periods degrades the battery. Apple knows this and added optimized battery charging feature in IOS 13 to prevent battery degradation.

Last years battery cases charged the phone to %100 percent and kept it at %100 percent until the cases battery runs out. Will these new cases do the same?

Dude I’ve been keeping my phone on the charger for years as well as using the Apple battery case for my XS and it’s been perfectly fine. My XS battery is at 96 health. You will be fine.

Or make the phones a little bit thicker and include a bigger battery to begin with.

They did. Plus, that’s not the answer necessarily to make the ‘battery bigger’, the efficiency of the A13 processor also helps contribute to the longevity of the battery life. There’s far more other contributors here than just a ‘thicker/bigger’ battery.

who needs a camera button when you have quick press on lock screen? and only 50% extra why not a full 100% its bigger than the internal battery in size so why only 50?

Ive tought about this, in my case, I prefer to keep the phone as small/thin and light as possible (sporting a Caudabe case), and prefer bringing along a 10k mha battery bank for the times I’ll need one (PD power banks top the phone off rather quick), iPhone XR and iPhone 11’s all have all day battery life IMO. That said, to have this first party battery case seems like a great option for long shifts people and the like that push a phone’s battery life on a daily basis.

The phone is in your pocket. You see something and you urgently need to take a picture. You reach out for your phone and immediately press the dedicated shutter button (while taking out the phone from your pocket) and then take the photo.

Imagine the same scenario but when you reach out for your phone and take it out, you have to wake your phone and tap the camera button on the screen or slide for the camera.

It's just slightly less of a hassle.

If this sort of release is becoming the trend then I’ll wait until we’ll after next years model is released & buy these together

Finally getting something that fits my iPhone 11 Pro Max properly, other than my modified Xs Max Smart battery case

You can't please everyone.. make it thicker and you will have mass complaints

"Why can't Apple make it thinner like the Pixel X"
"Steve Jobs would never have allowed this to happen"
"Tim Cook is mismanaging the company"

it would never end

It's for taking pictures. All standalone cameras have the shutter release button where your index finger goes, it's more natural than tapping the screen in a forward direction.
its really no big deal, its fine launching camera without this huge case

its raise to wake and takes under a second to click the shortcut and its done, and more like the button will take photos in your pocket by mistake

It is hard to believe that no one at Apple ever proposed an “iPhone Pro” with a resilient case and more battery capacity. <Cue the Nigel character from Spinal Tap saying “But this one is more elegant.”>

When I have used a battery case in the past, it's always been a thing where I'm out of town for a short period of time or I know I'm not going to be able to charge as much for a couple of days

That's what these things are really for. Especially on these phones which have the best battery life on the market.

I travel a bit and with the Xs Max, I needed this. Mostly podcasts on the flight, occasionally some SMS and would end up in the UK around 35-40%. With the Pro, I'm no less than 70% so far.

So.. I'll probably buy anyhow, but don't really need it desperately

They also made this for the XS Max.

question is why didn't they just add a camera button on the iPhone, its only to help drive sales of the case
Because they are getting away from movable physical buttons on the iPhone to make way for a full water tight design. Won't be much longer before the volume buttons are removed, they are next to go. Mute Switch redesign is already done, just not on the phone yet.

Having said that and staying on topic, if I were purchasing this i'd be waiting for prices to drop. Last time they were on sale within a few weeks so waiting is easy. Plus, I'm curious to see if they fixed how the phone battery drainage was being done when using this type of case. Absolutely killed my XS battery as soon as I used the case daily for 2 weeks. Dropped 4% and said nope, stopped using it all together. Never saw it drop again during my regular use with non-battery cases.
