I would like to have a lite version. Something about half as much battery for a quick top up. A case that is slightly larger than a non battery case versus way bigger. I had one for the XS Max and only used it when I had to. As soon as the phone was charged a regular case went back on. The weight is just a lot unless you really really need this all the time. If you do you put up with it.

Keeping your battery at %100 for longer periods degrades the battery. Apple knows this and added optimized battery charging feature in IOS 13 to prevent battery degradation.

Last years battery cases charged the phone to %100 percent and kept it at %100 percent until the cases battery runs out. Will these new cases do the same?
The question is what should happen when both batteries start the day with 100% (which is a reasonable assumption for a typical situation since people using a battery case want to maximize battery life not the longevity of the battery). Running down the case battery first has the advantage that one can remove the case once the case battery is at 0% and deal with a smaller-sized overall package.

The reverse situation when you put the phone with 80% or less charge into the battery case, not charging up the phone battery will mean that you cannot take the phone out of the case and enjoy maximum battery life. When charging overnight, there is a reasonable expectation that you won't need your phone with maximum charge five hours before your usual wake-up time. With a battery case, what would be the reasonable assumption about when the user might want to take the phone out of the case?

question is why didn't they just add a camera button on the iPhone, its only to help drive sales of the case

So what? What’s wrong with choice? I can think of at least three reasons not on the original case. Simplicity of design is Apple’s trademark, complication for water proofing, and a dedicated camera button not a necessity for a phone. Oh and cost. Why take that on for a feature arguably not everyone wants (like you for example). Put it on the case as an extra. Smart move. Pun intended.

Great point, I forgot about that feature. It is one of those you tap and forget.

who needs a camera button when you have quick press on lock screen? and only 50% extra why not a full 100% its bigger than the internal battery in size so why only 50?
Do you want a 'hump' that is twice as thick as the one of the model released today? The phone itself got a bit thicker due to having a physically larger battery. All else equal, the 'hump' of the battery case must also already be a tiny bit thicker (to keep with the same 50% rating). Doubling its thickness on top of that would probably make for something too thick for a lot of people.

I’m glad to hear that the internal teams at Apple are not so dysfunctional that they can get a slightly adjusted case out only a few months after launch

Apple should really reconsider the design. This humpback thing has been around forever and looks just as ridiculous today as it did back then...
Apple makes something "thin and elegant", and people complain that sacrifices were made and it should be functional.
Apple makes something functional and utilitarian, and people complain that it looks ridiculous.

You can get the Mophie iPhone 11Pro Case for 79.99$ at Verizon. Bought it on Monday at Verizon Store in Chicago, Michigan Ave.

I don't think that Apple will provide a cheaper deal so soon after release.

Third party cases can't hold a candle to Apple's own.

I don’t need a battery case, but out of curiosity, why does Apple not release these with the new iPhone models each year? Apparently there is a market for them...why make customers wait?

Camera button is great addition. Should do this for phone itself. (May be possible now that the reign of Jonny Ive’s senseless minimalization is over. Let functional empowerment return to the Apple kingdom)

Anyway, these are great cases, and well worth the cost. I’m glad Apple continues to make them.

I like it. Sure, it’s looks odd, but it fits well in the hand giving contours for fingers to strengthen grip.

Yes it does read the 2nd paragraph.

First responder? Thank you for your continued service.

Apple... taper the back. Remember the back of the iPhone 3GS? Tapered.

This really has to be the ugliest thing Apple has ever created. I'm really surprised they're sticking with it.

Just thinking out loud:

If both phone and case battery is at %100. Use the phone battery until it reaches %80 then switch to case battery. When case battery reaches the point where it has only the capacity to charge the phone to %100 percent it should charge the phone to %100 percent and die. It sounds complex I guess. And maybe this puts more strain on the phone battery, I don't know.

It cracks me up a little bit that a battery case is the same price for which I can buy an entire iPhone SE :D

Glad they're offering this for people that would like it. The 11 Pro battery life is so much better than my XS was. I wouldn't have a need for this even with heavy usage.

"Or make the phones a little bit thicker and include a bigger battery to begin with. "
They literally did this with the 11 and 11pro

wow you power of perception is over the charts here or maybe just maybe we are talking about a two day battery here not a 8 hour one, we are not talking about 10% battery size increase and 12% power consumption increase.
