Why iPad ?

Why make this terrible ad?

Apple rocks at hardware so at least they know their strengths.

Software apple is pretty bad. iCloud sucks, iTunes is meh, iOS 6 meh, maps, etc.
Apple is always behind hardware wise in their all of their iOS devices. You can't possibly tell me they are the best... To jog your memory just a bit, the iPad Mini has a dual core A9, with the iPad 4 having a dual A15, instead of both having quad A15s like current competitors, the Mini has a quite dated 1024x768 display that is lower resolution than the iPhone 5 phone , the iPad 1 and iPod Touch 4th gen were shipped a pathetic 256MB RAM, Apple outright refuses to install a GPS in any non cellular iOS devices, we are arbitrarily stuck at 16GB/32GB/64GB models for most products, no product ever has a micro-SD card reader for expandability, the lighting and older Apple connectors are for all intents and purposes proprietary, so one cant plug USB devices in, such as with Android with their common micro USB ports, etc etc etc,

iCloud is great! The only thing missing is collaborative ability... Back to my Mac especially is hindered by not being able to connect friends.

iTunes is one of the best things Apple has made. If Apple just stopped improving the iPhone, I'd stick with it until Android supported iTunes or something close to it.

iOS 6 is fine even though it's not a big improvement over iOS 5. It's free, so I got it.

Maps is the best mapping app out there. Apple Maps, the service (separate), is OK but probably not as good as Google's.

Bad Apple software would Game Center. I hate that ********** s***. I thought I disabled it, but no, it came back for some reason to lag my games out some more. I'm surprised you didn't complain about that.

What sucks about iCloud?

What is meh about iOS 6, maps, etc.?

Only thing to complain about icloud is that I can't access photostream from icloud from a web browser  only through iphoto :/ that means only from home and not work/elsewhere.

I think there are enough comments on how lack luster ios6 is, its interface, and the maps fiasco - even though some may find it working well.

Wow there is nothing going on in rumor land is there? Either secrecy is at an all time high or its gonna be a boring year. Someone please get in an elevator with a quicktake camera!

In other news Apple may be changing the color of the Apple genius's t-shirts... based on anonymous source in the supply chain.

You are so right. As consumers we should always demand the latest and greatest and stick it to the companies by using our pocket books. If they don't give us what we want/demand then we shouldn't buy the item regardless of the manufacturer.

concern trolls

concern troll (plural concern trolls)

(Internet slang) In an argument (usually a political debate), a concern troll is someone who is on one side of the discussion, but pretends to be a supporter of the other side with "concerns". The idea behind this is that your opponents will take your arguments more seriously if they think you're an ally. Concern trolls who use fake identities are sometimes known as sockpuppets.

They point out problems that don't really exist. The intent is to derail, stifle, control, the dialogue. It is viewed as insincere and condescending.

Are you on crack?

What sucks about iCloud?
What is meh about iTunes?
What is meh about iOS 6, maps, etc.?

If you're going to make a statement, back it up with some specifics, or you're just wasting everybody's time.

My experience with iCloud, iTunes, iOS 6, and maps is amazing. Never have things worked so well together and offered up such a rich, engaging experience. The demands that consumers are putting on Apple these days is getting out of control. Appreciate the beauty of engineering you are holding in your hand!

Finally someone with a sense of appreciation rather than just whining about missing features and upcoming  products. We buy this stuff to enjoy it - to make our life easier and more fun - not because we would enjoy something that isn't there. That's what the competition is for. Big ups, Coolfactor!

Unbelievable the people on here complaining about there not being enough new products to buy. In the past 6 months I've bought a new iPhone, iPad mini and MBA - these products aren't even 6 months old and yet people are complaining there isn't anything new to buy?? If you expect weekly/monthly product launches and updates, you're really in the wrong store, looking at wrong products, expecting the wrong things from the wrong company. Go complain to the myriad commodity crap manufacturers that Apple isn't offering frequent enough launches - I'm sure they'd happily take your money for their products, and then one day/week/month later, they'd demand you upgrade to the next version (in a way that'd make you feel obligated, despite your technological prowess).

Your mind may be thinking crack, but this is an Apple forum.

In regards to your advocating for Apple... with it's iCloud a rather inferior product, no too much unlike the two years I tolerated MobileMe's flaws, down-time, and other snafu's.

I find iCloud a very weak effort to improve on Apples MobileMe, which even the must worshipped Steve Jobs admitted was a failure.

The experience I've had with iCloud no matter how much I try to like it, as after all I am a very long time Apple customer, has been pretty bad. Apparently there's many of us who feel the same way for more reasons that I care to list. It would take too much time.

However I did come across this article below which does a pretty good job of fulfilling your desire for specifics. Ironically I didn't think that The Verge (a very Pro-Apple publication) would actually allow bit of honesty to appear on their web site.

I quote:

Apple's broken promise: why doesn't iCloud 'just work'?

Frustrations mount as developers deal with Apple's inability to manage another cloud service

Makes sense.. Apple's launched a page for iPhone. why not iPad :)

As if, the info displayed is just not enough anymore for anyone to understand, Apple needs to TELL us why you'll love us.

I make my own decisions :)

btw... I like the edited version on the iphone page ....

Raw specs aside, can you share with us a competing 10" tablet that matches or exceeds the current iPad 4 in terms of benchmarks?

we get it - your stock price has tanked, investors and the media have turned their backs on you, your "new" products won't be ready for another 2Q's, your profit margins are continuing to shrink, you're worried. so do something about it. give us something to "WOW" us with. colorful ads marketing old products is NOT the way to do it. i see the very same thing with Jeep. go look at the 2014 Jeep Patriot. they spent an enormous web page with colorful photos outlining every feature and function down to the very detail. if you were stupid, you would think it was all brand new. taking a step back you quickly realize this is the same exactly vehicle that existed last year. Apple has done exactly the same thing with this iPad marketing ad blitz. look Apple, your customers are wising up. not as many of us are being "wow'd" with incremental storage increases, over the top website marketing pizzazz, and software updates which are less functional than a Windows update. we like your products and we buy them for several reasons. we don't buy them for website marketing ads. give us what we vote for with our dollars and you shall have those dollars without a doubt

agreed on this one. the iPad 4 currently is the most powerful tablet (that runs a mobile OS). in real world usage though, the iPad 4 performance isn't anything significant over the iPad 3

Why I love my iPad 2

You know why I got an iPad? Cause I won it from a college. It's an iPad 2 but I still love mine. Even though it doesn't have a retina screen and it's outdated, it's still perfect for me.

Are you talking about Geekbench benchmark scores or not? If so, there is still a Nexus 10 that have higher benchmark scores (2500 vs. 1700 for iPad).

I am not going to bring up platform wars here and pls don't bring that up, but I still hope iOS 7 for iPad would finally have true multitasking like that on Galaxy Note 10.1, then it will truly be the most powerful mobile OS on earth.

FYI,

Just bought a Thinkpad Tablet 2. Just got tired of waiting for Apple to innovate again. And iOS is a total bore unless you are into gaming. I also wanted something with a real file system.

Wrong, see below.

Sure. According to Geek Bench, which has been referenced by MR several times, the Nexus 10, which was released in November of 2012, pulls a score of 2713 (1), while the Tegra 4 soc in the brand new Vizio Featherweight gets 4148 (2). The iPad 4, in comparison, scores 1776 (3). The iPad 4 thus has about the same CPU power as a Power Mac G5 (4), while all of the new Tegra devices have more power than at least one quad core Intel Xeon model Mac Pro (5), which is a huge difference.

i wasn't aware of the Nexus 10 getting a higher score. thanks for the correction
i presume the Nexus 10 came out after the iPad 4 right? i remember Engadget doing a review of the iPad 4 right when it came out and it was the most powerful tablet so that must be where i got it from

iTunes match on the other hand...

Typical nature of the world today. Guy gave you 5 services working great for him and you come back with one he didn't mention trying to be snarky.

If you like it and it works for you....use it. If not then don't and try not to rain on someone else's parade at the same time.
