That's interesting. I don't have that issue. Wonder why. You have any silicon/plastic covers on it?

Now, I do live in constant fear of scratches and nicks. I still think the glass/stainless design of the 4 and 4S was the best.

No I've never had a cover on it or any kind of screen protector.

It's like the phone is statically charged in my pocket attracting dust to the screen and body.

Apple's retina claim is for 20/20 vision. Not for people with eagle vision, which is above 20/20. If they are going to test for every kind of freakishly strong vision, maybe even 470 ppi won't be enough for some cases on earth. Shooting for the average "best" quality makes sense.

And nobody, I mean nobody, would notice any "details" on a 1080p movie while they watch it on their phone compared to a 720p downscale. Retina made sense, but don't turn it into a spec masturbation.

Despite popular belief, 20/20 is not some sort of perfect vision. 20/20 is the minimum required for normal vision. It's not special, and people with vision better than it it don't have "freakishly strong vision." They might have slightly above average vision. Aiming for above average shouldn't be outside the box for Apple, despite your complaints.

i actually was never a great fan of iphones. few months a had a good deal on a used iphone 4 and have it now for a while.
after all i can say, it is probably the best phone apple has ever made. after nokias and lots of htc's with windows in it i had - i love it. if you take car of it you can have it for years with no prob at all.
shure; there are few things you miss and few that you dont like but; for a phone like this - if you see the whole thing - others still are hard working to get it in they'r line.

fu** google android. they take and sell all your informations, they can get of you.

by the way... i can wait for the next good iphone. this year or even the next, it doesnd matter ;)

3D editors and Adobe's Creative Suite from CS4 on have a tendency to perform a little bit better on Windows than they do on OSX these days. It's not a huge amount of difference, but it does have a slight advantage.

Generally, OSX renders faster, Windows edits faster.

hmm yeh but os x has better memory management so working on large files is going to give you a better time on os x. I've used maya on os x and on windows without noticing a difference with large poly count scenes. Never been into video editing.

I love my iPhone. And when someone hands me an iPhone 5 I'm blown away by the quality feel and blazing performance. I also know there are dozens of Apps that just don't exist on Android.

When someone hands me a Samsung I get the impression of a cheap hunk of plastic with a mishmashy OS.

I bet your pants, that when apple will introduce the iWatch... idiots around the world will believe it's a revolutionary, bold, innovative first ever produced device... just because Apple always sells every crap they make as if it's their design, their idea.

A SUCCESSFUL watch, just like a SUCCESSFUL tablet actually IS revolutionary and innovative.

Ads like this always come up when there're no new features to be promoted any more. So, maybe it's time for some invention again :D

You are absolutely clueless. Do you think Apple have some magical patented screen technology? Do you think they manufacture their own screens? They're just high-res IPS displays which they buy off vendors like Samsung or LG, for god's sake. Good displays no doubt, but nothing other manufacturers can't match. Case in point: HTC One.

Actually Apple did engineer the technology behind the Retina display and they were awarded a patent for it. The retina technology has nothing to do with the pixel density but had to eliminate color edges in displays. The density of this technology can be ramped up. Apple buys from contract manufacturers but they produce to Apple design.

I love the iPhone, i hate that it breaks on every accidental drop ! can't wait for the plastic variety I will sure buy one of those !

no. Not unless you list some useful features. customization is not that important. simply being able to open a PDF or Doc file from an email natively would be useful. Something iOS had done since 2007 just like alternative keyboards. The 360 Panorama App has been available for iOS since June 2010. Custom lock screens since 2010, if you want a custom home launcher put whatever apps you want in up to four folders by dragging apps on to one another, the place on the stationary doc at the bottom of the screen. Now you have 4 custom Home launchers
custom roms? isnt that what apps are for. i actually have an Apple II and a Dos emulator not to mention Atari on my iPhone. I like that my default browser is designed to secure my phone. It updates with the OS and I don't have to keep up with updates and or risk infecting my phone by downloading a malware infected app from google play. Removable batteries are a bad thing because they compromise the stability over time as the contacts wear and bend. Google Now would be more useful if it could open apps like Siri can. I've had widgets on my Mac for years but never found them to be useful.
That leaves larger screens. I think its a fad that will fade when other companies get better at battery life and more efficient OSs that don't require octa processors just to function at the level or iOS on a dual. I have no interest in carrying a phone that is wider than my portable 500 GB G Drive.
what you say is limited OS I see as a much smarter implementation at is far more efficient and useful.

Can you have an alternative KB on iphone?

What he was referring to as custom launcher is not what your talking about

Im not sure what you mean by a custom ROM, isnt that what apps are for.

GoogleNow can be used to open certain apps

It seems like your trying to make points but your not really familiar with Android enough to do so. Which is fine. So most of your comments just dont add up. Sorry

Actually..if you really wanted to, the battery on the iphone is very easy to swap out.

So Apple shouldn't do any marketing while Samsung spends $12B/yr on advertising?

Unbelievable how Apple can't do anything right with some people these days.

I'm not saying they shouldn't advertise I'm just saying they shouldn't need to lay out all of the cards on the table like this.

Ad's come up like this because they can't believe people are actually buying this tosh from Samsung/Android.

They should definitely be more aggressive in their ad campaign. They also should spend lot more on R&D, or as usual file patents and sue others.

That's quite a misleading statement. Samsung spends $12B on marketing not advertising. There is a big difference. Samsung spends on marketing of mobile devices about the same amount as Apple.

But there is alot more than what i said. For example i can go on any website to install an app and even directly as execute. I can go to the web playstore log in and click any app i want it will autoinstall to my phone. And i can send my aps trough whatever way i want and my friends can install it directly from phone to phone. And be sure there is even more that iphun simply cant do. And for the usability, well to me this is very usable and i can do things faster and in a easy way without needing to stay hours to find a solution to make something i wanted todo or make with my phone. Larger screen is also missed and widgets and so on.

As I said:

Looks like you have the perfect phone for YOU!

http://www.patentlyapple.com/patently-apple/2012/06/apples-retina-display-patent-comes-to-light.html

Here is the link I posted several messages earlier.

Thanks, I stand corrected - turns out Retina does mean more than just "high PPI".

I'd still like a bigger display with even higher PPI ;)

I've seen the webpage, and I am even more worried about Apple than I was before. I am worried about the direction it is taking.

I have just come out of an electronics store. I played a little bit with the laptops which were on display, and none of them matched the retina MacBook Pro. It is an amazing piece of hardware, perfectly crafted like a jewel, unlike any other of those ugly, crappy, plastic-feeling, Windows laptops which were at display. The retina MacBook Pro exudes "Steve Jobs" all over it. Looks like a product that Steve Jobs would have approved, and he probably did before he passed away.

But now, what will be of the future? The iPhone 5 looks great, indeed. But the Samsung Galaxy S3 also looked great, and the S4 seems to be even better. I don't know if it will turn out to be any better or worse than the iPhone 5, but it does not matter.

This iPhone ad is particularly embarrassing.

"Only iPhone has a retina display"? What is that supposed to mean? The "retina display" is a trademark, and of course only Apple products have it, because Apple is legally entitled to have exclusivity over it. But high resolution displays, with very high pixel densities, are not exclusivity for Apple. Actually, the S4 will have a much higher resolution and pixel density than the iPhone 5. Will Apple really play this game? It has nothing to do with features, or design, or beauty. It has to do with intellectual property rights. And it is just disgusting.

Then you have other features which are not exclusive to the iPhone either. "The world's most popular camera"? What is that supposed to mean? How does it make it better than the 13 megapixel camera of the S4 (which is of course less popular, given that the product has not even been released yet)?

And then "only iPhone has Siri"? Of course, another marketing term, and a character created by Apple. Which is still beta, by the way.

The ad is just a disgusting attack on Android smartphones, especially the just-announced Galaxy S4. The S4 has features the iPhone 5 does not have. It may lack the great integration and user experience, but Samsung has delivered something really neat, with those eye and movement tracking software, and the 1080p screen. And I sincerely wished Apple had not done that. If Apple really felt the iPhone 5 was superior, it would have never done this ad.

Just make a groundbreaking, incredible, iPhone 6, and put everybody else to shame. But will it make it? Or will Apple become Microsoft and/or IBM, and Samsung become the new Apple?

This, 100%! I think this ad is more pathetic than anything. I love my iPhone, but really...I think Apple is grasping at straws here. There are loads of devices out there now that have better screens than the "retina display" on the iPhone. And as much as they want to believe it (and me too, actually), 4" phones just aren't going to cut it. I like the size myself but with devices pushing for phones bigger than this, Apple is dead-last in the competition. The only thing going for them at this point is the app ecosystem and how everything integrates with other Apple products...but for people like me (and there are MANY out there like me) who AREN'T 100% tied to the Apple ecosystem (I am a PC user and the iPhone is my only Apple product), moving to a new platform probably won't be that hard.

I do agree that there are tons of benefits to Apple making both the device and the operating system. That's one thing I like about it...the risk of fragmentation is quite low, much lower than Android. I also remember when I had a BlackBerry that OS updates were sporadic and most of the time you had to seek it out on your own and download it because your carrier would never release it for your device. In this regard Apple definitely has the upper hand.
