It took a total of 5 minutes to receive the code, who knows how long it will take for the code to become valid.

Hey, don't discount the level of effort to put the Cheetos in the bowl, unwrap and stack the pile of Twinkies, and have the Mountain Dew on ice ready to go.

Must be nice to have such a charmed life that one's biggest trouble is being unable to upgrade the high end computer's operating system in the couple hours after it's released.

As for preparing I was referring to completing a "fresh" install, manually copying files over, finally setting up my boot camp partition -- which entails opening my MBP and disconnecting the hard drive, wedging some paper in there, going through the whole process, etc etc.

There's just a lot of stuff I've been waiting on Mountain Lion to do, and seeing as the release date is today I figured today would be the day to do it so I prepared accordingly. Now I'm sitting here with none of my data (fresh install of Lion), an empty optical bay (had to switch drives, need to install boot camp before adding second drive back) and an empty Inbox. Had I known that I wouldn't be able to do this today then I wouldn't have gotten everything ready.

How did you get the redeem code? When I follow apples online links, i only get a page that works if I'm a reseller. I'm not, having recently purchased the Retina MBP. Image attached of what I'm getting.

In Australia here, I got my redemption code but when I try to redeem it is says this code has already been used. Each code can only be used once.

Got that too. My guess is that they've accidentally sent out the same redeem code to everyone.

Where are you seeing this information? Launch Pad only shows a progress bar on the Mountain Lion icon.
