i wonder if they will let me install this on my work distributed ipad. it just sits in my drawer anyway

Kudos to MacRumors for not posting this until the site was actually live.

I had read about the public beta being available on a few other sites and I wasted about an hour hitting "refresh"...

Why would you waste your time for an hour hitting refresh? lol

Does the public beta still work with your Apple Watch?

No Watch OS 2.0 b3 is required for the watch to pair.

System Requirements

watchOS 2 beta supports iPhone 5, 5c, 5s, 6, or 6 Plus running iOS 9 beta. iOS 9 beta software should be installed from the Apple Developer website using the latest released version of iTunes.

Trying to install the iOS 9 Public Beta 1 on my iPhone 6 and I keep getting "Unable to Install Update. An error occurred installing iOS 9 Public Beta 1."

Posted this on my Facebook account just a few minutes ago for those of you who are thinking of getting iOS 9.0 and WatchOS 2.0 (Not sure if it's available)

If your interested in joining the public beta for iOS 9 and WatchOS 2.0, i highly advise you run away like your hair is on fire. I test every release prior to a public GM and I have to say iOS 9.0 and WatchOS 2.0 has been a nightmare. This is hardly beta and more along the lines of an Alpha. I'm disappointed that Apple has rushed this to the general public with numerous issues between the two appliances.

If you have an Apple Watch this is your one and only warning. If you upgrade your phone to 9.0 b3, you need to be aware that your watch requires WatchOS 2.0 b3.

IN BIG CAPS AND BOLD LETTERS.. ONCE YOU UPGRADE YOUR WATCH TO OS 2.0 B3 YOU CANNOT DOWNGRADE.

There is no downgrade path since WatchOS 2.0 is required to function with iOS 9.0. If you upgrade and want to go back, you have to contact apple, to have your watch shipped back to the repair center so Watch OS1.01 GM can be reinstalled. (about a weeks turn around time)

If you only have an iPhone feel free to upgrade to 9.0 because there's a downgrade path, but keep in mind your iCloud backups convert to iOS 9.0. Make sure you back up your 8.4 device to iTunes since your iCloud backup will be rendered useless.

Again this has has been a very rough beta across both the Watch and iPhone platform from a tester and developer aspect.

Except thats not true, you don't have to install on your watch. Watch works fine with iPhone Beta 3.

I signed up for this this morning after reading the article yesterday. I'm assuming I have to wait for an invitation next? Is it a lottery or a limited amount of people or is everyone welcome? Sorry, first time even attempting this. Thanks!

Also one thing I don't care for is how Apple distributes public betas. They only provide them OTA. It's nice to have a copy of the software file in case a restore is needed, it's much faster that way.

Downloading on iPad Air 2! :D

Is the battery life better in public betas?

I'll stick to dev betas since they always come out a day or two earlier.

Oh and btw, performance-wise, beta 3 is horrendous on both iOS and Mac OS, much worse than beta 2.

I'm actually experiencing the exact opposite. The Beta 3 for iOS is really smooth, battery life has been great. And this was a huge leap for the watchOS Beta 3, my watch is usable again, battery life is good, and way less sluggish and more polish to the watchOS in general.

Trying to grab downloads now...website being very slow, as is expected right now.

Well that is not what other people are saying. Yes you are correct watchOS 2 beta needs iOS 9 but that does not mean watchOS 1 or 1.01 will not work on iOS 9. Do you have proof that it will not work.

No thats not correct, a watch with 1.0.1 works fine on ios9.0, no need to install the Watch OS Beta
