I can’t believe how out of date it still is. My town has a pub listed that has NEVER existed! Virtually every building/business is in the wrong place... but like streets away from where it actually should be!

Do your bit. Click the "Report an issue" link. I was in a pub in a remote part of Shropshire recently where the pub was a hundred metres out. Clicked the link to set the correct location, only took a moment. Apple updated the map location a couple of days later.

I can’s see the “Look around” button yet...

Nor I. I guess it will appear over time. Just out of interest though, I did a press & hold near Trafalgar Square and when I lifted off, a subtle invitation to Look Around appeared. Runs rings around Google Streetview.

I noticed that the UK is a lot greener than it was before, especially compared to other countries. I thought it had been updated and noticed that there is more information. Just tried out Look Around and it’s way better than Street View! I hope Apple improves the usability, which is still rather lacking, as much as it has made these other improvements

I have done countless times and nothing changes. Maybe because I’m in a small town and possible the only person to be reporting a problem. But honestly, nothing changes at all!

wow the look around is a neat feature and far better than google. Looking forward for One of the county for look around, i waved several times on the Apple Van when it was mapping. Apple did a nice touch aesthetically, overall. Seems like apple maps is not just an icon anymore hidden somewhere in my folders. Now gimme the freedom to choose dark mode or not for the map!!!

P.S. Dublin’s lookaround is unrealistic, all sunny!!! i want gloomy weather and rain

I doubt that would be the reason. I've reported location errors in some pretty out of the way places, and they've been corrected. Intriguingly, the "report an issue" link is one of the rare places in Appledom where they take personal data off you in order to validate your claim.

Definitely better imagery than street view.
what I cannot understand is why Apple with all its resources doesn’t employ enough people around the world to role it out everywhere as fast as it can?
it’s an enormously important app.
But it seems the global role out has been assigned to an eighty year old, nap taking half blind man who has to get his seeing eye dog through quarantine in each country he finally decides to go to.

Sure do, I work at a research station and Apple maps had its pin located right in the middle. So if you asked for directions to it it would take you in the back way through some back roads. Not good for visitors, and even if they could go that way a bio security risk. In fact they would not be able to get there. So I took a picture of the main gates from the main road.
I went inside and reported the problem from my office. And voila! Apple quickly updated in a couple of days, and visitors using maps get directed to the front of the research station instead of the back paddock. Unfortunately, rather than the location for maps being the front gate though, the pin is now my desk.

The new Apple Maps app that Apple has been rolling out over the course of the last year is expanding to the UK and Ireland as of today, according to Apple.

applemapsukirelandrollout.jpg

Apple's updated Maps app provides faster and more accurate navigation and richer, more detailed views of roads, buildings, parks, airports, malls, and more, to provide a better-than-ever navigation experience. In Apple's article announcing the availability of the new Maps in the UK and Ireland, Apple's services VP Eddy Cue said that Apple is "excited" to expand the new experience. With the updated Maps app, Apple is launching Look Around in the UK and Ireland, allowing users in these countries to see a street level view of what's around, similar to the Google Street View mode. Apple first introduced Look Around in iOS 13 in a limited number of areas, but has since been expanding its availability. Look Around in the UK and Ireland is available in London, Edinburgh, and Dublin at launch, with more areas to come in the future.

Guides, an iOS 14 feature, provides a curated list of places to visit within a city, with resources created by Time Out Group, Lonely Planet, and The Evening Standard, and UK users in London also have access to cycling directions and routes with EV stops.

Apple has been testing the new maps in the UK and Ireland since August after finishing the rollout in the United States back in January.

OMG Apple; you spend all that effort updating Apple Maps for Ireland... but still no support for Irish postcodes?! OK, I know we only got them a few years ago, but come on!

Perhaps you are looking at the bit known to be very, very green - Wales? :)

Nice to have street view like functionality but most of all, Apple Maps has my home address correctly located, which Google Maps still has 800m away in a different street despite multiple “error reports” over the past 8 years. Which adds an extra fun element when getting high value deliveries as you can imagine.
