I got this same message. When I called them they told me I have the wrong type of crack. I'm in the uk by the way. Screen cracked while the watch was charging.

Same message here. Although my perimeter cracks on my series e3 were nearly identical to those in the replacement notice I was told that since my battery wasn't swelled and my screen hadn't "popped off" my watch did not qualify for replacement. I said that I didn't remember reading anything about swelled batteries or popped off screens in the replacement notice (and the first rep I talked to prior to sending my watch in didn't either) the technical support rep very directly stated that this was the whole reason for the screen replacement. It was pay $289 or go away. They're sending my cracked screen watch back.

I have put my cracked S2 at apple store today.
It seems it will fulfill the requirements for the replacement program. They will examine it again at the factory.
They have informed me that they could replace it with an apple watch S3.
Wait and see ...

dope!!

Handed mine in. Because mine also has a small crack across the screen as well as around the screen like the picture looks doubtful I will get one.

I went to Apple Store with exact same problem one week ago. They said me repair will cost $229 + tax. I declined. Watch stop working after this. Thank God I decided to wait until series 5 and not bought a new one. Created appointment with Genius bar on the next week.

Little update on this. They took my watches and yesterday I got email that they will replace my watches.

Got a message after five days that my replacement watch was available for pickup at the Apple store where I dropped it off Saturday. Picked it up shortly thereafter. No charge for anything. It was a new unit, just the watch -- not the band or charger or anything else. Series 3 just like the broken one. Unfortunately it was gold too just like the broken one, but that's fine.

I received my replacement watch and it’s a different Series 3 with a different serial and Model #(NQK12LL/A)

I picked up my replacement watch this morning. its a new watch with a different SN and so on. I noticed that a lot of people (10-15) were also picking up watches and a couple had the cracks as well. I would say that this is more common than Apple is leading on to be. That all being said, Apples service is amazing and I left with a new watch and am very happy not to have a hole in it anymore

i got the "its a different crack" business for my series 2 and i'm fuming. 2 months ago this thing started falling apart for no reason, i thought "hm, maybe i bumped it on something? don't remember that at all. weird" and removed some of the pieces of glass for safety and put a terrible looking case on it. saw this article and was like "oh cool, that's gotta be what happened"-- its around the bottom and a small part of the side pretty much exactly like the picture.

i took it in tonight and they said its a different type of crack and my applecare+ expired so they wouldn't replace it. i said "so your diagnosis is that these two things that look the same aren't the same?" and wanted to charge me $229 for the service. isn't the series 3 $199 now????? stupid.

like seriously i'd be less angry if there wasn't this dumb program that i apparently don't qualify for even though it's gotta be what happened.

Just got a series 3 to replace my 2. Very happy. Now trying to sell it. How much warranty do you get for it. I forgot to ask apple. Thanks.

Did you ask what warranty it has? I forgot to ask. Thanks.

Comes with three month warranty. Watch looked like a brand new device. Not a mark on it at all.

He said it would also be covered for this particular recall along as it is active too.

I've got good news from Apple Support!
They will give me my money back, that I had to pay last year, to get a new AW3.

My watch also had a little screen crack in the corner, and some weeks after it it startet to non react to touch, and then it couldn't even load anymore. Apple Support said it's my fault, because I cracked the screen, and they offered me to get a new Watch for 260€.

When I read that they started a replacement program, I called Apple Support, how they will handle issues that happened last year. The Support guy said, that it's nor mentioned in the replacement program, that it applies to watches that have already been replaced.

But then the magic happened: The same guy called me back 2 days later, that he could probably help me. He had another support case, where he had to study general apple support regulatories, and he remembered back to my case.
He even requested the repair report from my local Apple Store, and today he called me, that I will get my money back.

I am really speechless!

Called applecare to complain, they said to go back and ask for a manager, i did. The manger shook my hand when he approached so i knew it wasnt good news. They said it might be related, but because i took the glass out they couldnt send it to repair because it would get denied. Shook my hand at the end too, why dont people understand how condescending that is? Good news would not be met or sent away with a handshake so cool it. Anyway, they said call again and ask for a manager or tier 2 support. I said “thats what they told me about you guys” and they shrugged.

Called support afterwards, they *said* theyd handle it and sent a repair box to me. But i noticed the comment in the case was “hairline crack” even though I *specifically* said i pulled some glass out. Im not really a “can i speak to your manager” person but im pretty annoyed by this. Ill see how it goes. Hopefully its fine.

i was persistent, and also had applecare+ for it that expired but never used, and i dont usually escalate stuff, so i leveraged all of that and was honest about my issue and the person i finally got was really helpful. it took a few hours to sort it out though so you can weigh the risk of the attempt. they gave me the same exact series 2 so i didnt “luck out” like some people here but i really just wanted to be able to wear it in the rain again as a secondary watch. im happy.
