This is terrible.

The shows on there are mostly brutal canadian shows.
What a waste of my time.

I cant be bothered to watch these shows for free on television, let alone for 1.99.

Rubbish.

Very glad that this is here. And hoping that much more is on the way. I watch Corner Gas free on rabbit ears and buy the DVDs later, so there's no need to buy them on iTunes (it is an AWESOME show, by the way :D)

NHL games don't interest me much, to be honest. I'll watch it "live" on the night it happens but much beyond that and I'm not too interested in watching. Kinda like the Oscars -- who watches those after the live broadcast? :)

So, yeah, hoping for some of that sweet American content to work its way up north.

:apple: shoots....and SCORES!!

Nice goal, eh?:D

I'd be interested in a season package for the NHL in the US.

And where's the CURLING?!?:D:p

Anyone else trying to buy the last few episodes of the new South Park season having problems? It keeps saying the item I tried to buy is no longer available for purchase and when I click the South Park tab to go back it says it's not available in the Canadian store

At last, :apple:TV should be on my Christmas shopping list! Or on Boxing Day... so far, I haven't found one show I'd like to watch on iTunes yet, but I am sure the collection of the shows available will grow. Too bad no NBC shows will be available in any foreseeable time frame.

But I wonder though what would happen to those already available episodes of CBC shows for free, such as Intelligence and Heartland? Are they going to pull them so that those shows can be available on iTunes? That's no good. :(

Cheers! :apple:

I just watched a few samples of a few shows, and there seems to be a lot of (interlacing?) problems, which is way too visible in cartoons.

Are the videos encoded by people who even know what they're doing?

wow... corner gas... that wasn't expected...

Daily Planet? Project Runway Canada? Debbie Travis' Painted House? Just For Laughs Gags? Fashion Television? Marketplace? This Hour Has 22 Minutes?

old hockey games??! pffff... maybe episodes of Degrassi (original)? The Raccoons? Video Hits? Traders? You Can't Do That on Television?

Btw I was kidding, I am a huge hockey freak and also very excited that they will have classic games on there. I hope they put the last games at the old Montreal Forum and the Maple Leaf Garden. Not to forget of course the 93 Stanley Cup finals ;)

- CBC's comedy programs "Little Mosque on the Prairie" and "The Rick Mercer Report," reality programming "No Opportunity Wasted" and "Dragon's Den;"
- CTV's smash hit comedy "Corner Gas," dramas "Instant Star," "Degrassi: The Next Generation" and "Robson Arms;"
- Comedy Central's "Drawn Together," "The Sarah Silverman Program" and Emmy and Peabody Award-winning "South Park;"
- MTV Networks programs "Avatar: The Last Airbender" and "The Hills;"
So, basically crap (in my opinion). I took out NHL because that is actually worth it.

Meh. I finally got my invite to Hulu.com's beta. If more providers start going this route I see TV on iTMS dieing out.

Pros: Free, a ton of content and its only in beta, the UI is pretty good for a web interface, commercials are 15 seconds and 3 times per half hour, their HD content demos is pretty good

Cons: Resolution is meh not bad but nothing spectacular, commercials, can't download content for on the go viewing, HD content is demo only.

I think the big deal about hulu, and why it pertains to this thread is that TV shows are generally purchased by people who are doing spur of the moment purchases for a quickie. I think Hulu is going to eat into those purchases on iTMS, with the exception being when people want to take content with them. trips, flights, etc.

All I know is they have Exosquad, Buck Rogers, Jack of all Trades, Land of the Giants, A Team, Surface, Buffy, Airwolf, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. Plus a crap load of new stuff like Bionic Woman, 24, BSG (New and old)....etc there is a ton of content to keep me occupied for a long time. Which for iTMS is bad.

Avatar is NOT in any way, shape, or form crap. Dem there fighting words mr. :p

I checked this morning and they only had 5 NHL games all old ones. Am I blind or have they just not got any up for the 2007-2008 season yet.

If they get smart too they should offer a package next year for a whole season of a team. ie. $40-50 for a whole season of the sens or something. Because at face value I wouldn't buy all 82 games for $160 might as well get centre ice.

I'd love to see Coach's Corner (Ron vs. Don), Kids in the Hall ("I squish your head"), Four on the Floor ("Boot to the Head!"), and SCTV ("Welcome to the Great White North, eh?"). And heck, just for the kids, let's throw in The Friendly Giant ("Look up, look waaaaay up") and Mr. Dress-up ("Let's see what's in the Tickle Trunk").

Agreed. I can't think of any Canadian shows beyond "This Hour Has 22 Minutes" that I would watch for free either. Now when they start to offer "Prison Break" or "Supernatural" or "Family Guy" I'll be interested. Canada may have some of the best actors, but the US has all the best shows.

I copied this from the press release from Apple:

and can be viewed on a PC or Mac, iPod nano with video, fifth generation iPod, iPod classic or on a widescreen TV with Apple TV.

Does this mean they cannot be viewed on my iPod Touch or is it just a typo?

I miss the CBC that my parents get in Washington State. That is one of the reasons living in Florida sucks for me anyway.

Here's hoping more shows start rolling out next year for the lot of you in the great white north.

bah

They emailed me an invite too.
Then I went to log in and they told me my email address wasn't valid.
Probably because it's a .ca

Typical.

I don't even know why I'm trying so hard, I don't even want to watch TV.

Don't forget hulu etc are limited to the states only.Itunes tv service can be more then fine in canada and europe.Aslo hulu is limited to the pc whil tunes you can get it to go.

I sort of like Corner Gas, I'll pass on just about all the other shows.

But NHL games ... THIS IS GOLDEN!! BEAUTY!

- NHL Games of the Year, including top NHL games in their entirety for the 2007-2008 season, as well as Stanley Cup Classics, a five-game bundle of great Stanley Cup Final games.

i don't see the top games

To each, his own I guess. I'd rather watch Corner Gas, RMR, or LMotP, than an old NHL game that I already know the outcome of any day.

LIttle Mosque:Has really shocked alot of people how popular it is.On the avg 3 million viewers.

I don't think that they've aired those episodes on Comedy Network yet, so they probably won't sell those in Canada until then. They aired in the US on Comedy Central months ago. Comedy Network is well behind the actual release dates of South Park episodes.

You can find them at southparkx.net. They used to be free for download on that site, but now it looks like they've made a deal with Amazon.

Actually, you can watch all of season 11 episodes for free on The Comedy Network's website.
