"And whenever there are shiny, new software updates with shiny, new features, you should be able to sit back, relax, and know your phone will get them. And be compatible with them. For years. For free."

This part is laughable considering some upcoming key features of iOS9 WON'T work with the iPad Air! And apple has a history of using software updates to gimp older iphones. iOS 8 had compatibility issues with iPhone 4/4s.

And i actually find the word magical and ease of use on iOS pretty funny after watching this.

Idiots that never used the iPhone and don't have money for one find that video interesting...

Verizon didn't had iPhone, because they wanted to put their crap on iPhone's firmware like they do on Android devices.

Verizon is part of Open Handset Alliance, the same body that controls Android.

Android had a bug for a long time that when you were at home, it connected to your Wifi, then you got out and lose Wifi and connected to 3g/4g, then when you went back home, it didn't connect to Wifi, even if it detected your Wifi network, even for a long time, and kept using data plan.

This was a well known bug, with over 1000 stars, a lot of reports on Android bug tracker.

Android dev's NEVER solved the problem until a very long time. CyanogenMOD solved the problem and published the patch, as they are required. But AOSP, never!

Because they have interests in those bugs...

Like when Android used a full Open Source BlueZ as Bluetooth stack, worked perfectly, then they changed to a Broadcom controlled stack, and it stopped working in many cars, including mine... Why? Because it's now using Broadcom software, and Broadcom is part of Open Handset Alliance.

It's so full of s**t, Android is copying iOS cut, copy and paste.

If you don't like Apple, then GOOD LUCK. It's your money.

My money goes to Apple.

Who is this targeted to? Who is to be impressed by this campaign? That is, who is gullible enough to see this and be convinced of its message? What reaction could this muster other than outright laughter?

Apple's new design language can be summed up by comparing it to dressing a perfectly grilled Nathan's frankfurter with ketchup.

I just have to say that I agree with every word in the rest of your post (which all I didn't quote here)

I'm inspired by Steve Jobs as much as the next guy, but just because he called his devices "magic" that doesn't mean that your multibillion dollar company should continue to do so.

In the past, Apple has made some truly incredible ads. "1984," "Think Different," and I'd argue the "Your Verse" campaign were really remarkable. Why? Because they focused on how Apple's products help you in your day-to-day life. They focused on humanity, NOT on the technology or stupid buzz words like "magic."

To that end, I think the overall message of this Why iPhone campaign is okay. Given that you have to go to Apple's website to see it, I think it's alright that they make vague references to the iPhone being powerful, thin, secure, simple, etc., and I also like that it talks about the features of an iPhone that are applicable to you. "So whether your thing is running or writing or budgeting or filming or note-taking or annihilating rampant zombie populations using only the power of plants, you're totally set." Things like that work better than "Well the A8 chip inside is a 64-bit processor that's way faster than the A7 was last generation..." and all that junk.

The writing style is a bit pompous ("magic," "Like, 'how did you even do that?' great"), but I think a lot of you are completely overreacting at its failure to be absolutely perfect. It seems pretty good to me. I think it makes some pretty good arguments for why a customer would choose an iPhone over an Android phone. It doesn't get the humanity part down nearly as well as some of the other ads I mentioned- it's notable that only two of the pages actually have pictures of humans on them- and I agree that they need to quit with the whole "magic" thing. But I wouldn't say it's bad.

No, peoples that have brains that have been used to use devices and computers for many many years that are used to the stuffs in Windows and so on sees the way Apple goes as idiotic. Explanation is in the video for those who want to hear the truth about that.

So Apple copying the notification menu, 3rd party keyboards, and now the multiwindow function, is not ripping off Samsung / Android here?

Tell me what Android have copied from iOS for the last 3 years?

A responsible person doesn't dismiss an amazing device because you can't drag mp3s onto it.

I love my iphone, I just want to drag a dang mp3 to it every once in a while, like I could in iOS6 and iOS7. But apparently, that's not "responsible", LOL.

Of course, never mind the compliments I pay to my Apple device. Skip right over those and go out of your way to take offense at whatever I type.

And are you SERIOUSLY complaining about the App Store?!

Just for your information, that wasn't me complaining about the app store in my previous post. It was Apple super fan John Gruber. Direct all of your future messages about Nazi code breaking machines to his inbox, not mine. :p

That's the stupidest argument ever!

So OS X should be a Windows copy?

 you and him, are so stupid. If anything at all, Windows should be copying OS X, and that's what Microsoft has been doing...

Tell me what Android have copied from iOS for the last 3 years?

Just from Android M:

They copied Apple Pay with Android Pay (no, it's not Google Wallet that flopped because Google wanted all the commissions and direct access to your bank account)

They copied iOS-style system backups

They copied iOS data detectors with GNow on Tap

They copied Cut, Copy and Paste interface from iOS

They copied granular permissions form iOS

They copied TouchID APIS form iOS

They copied Apple Photos with automatic cloud upload/download with Google Photos

They have been copying Apple's battery management tricks with using the accelerometers to detect movement

Just from Android L

They have been copying lock screen notifications

They have been copying guided access from iOS

And Material Design is a rip off iOS 7 design.

Curious question, why does Apple say "There's nothing quite like iPhone" instead of "There's nothing quite like an iPhone". Don't call me a grammar nazi, I've always been curious about this. Hasn't anyone else?

he referred to the old and, on all iDevices except the Air2 (not taking windowed video plaYback into account), only available multitasking.

Yet Android doesn't have slide-over, doesn't have PIP, and doesn't have split screen multitasking.

LOL

where's touch optimization in os x, for one? so much for your arguments....

Apple doesn't need a backup plan for mobile, they have iOS, Microsoft has failures...

Where's the trackpad optimizations for Windows, for one?

For the love of everything... it's used ONCE on all those pages!! Get over it!!

are you unaware of how many times the word "magical" was used in the keynotes to describe iPhone features? its not just within this document. its over-use of the term, period.
