good morning - thank you - so proud
- love it -

on keynote talk

i hope this time he say

amazing things never made before
that 1000 engeneering and 10,000 developer has been working so crazi

iphone 6S ( big smile on him ) and audiance not suprise with no clap sound little quite like 5s-6

Then, when another company see's public buying Apple products, they take on some of those Apple style/design cue's as it's obvious that's what's selling, and, as we say, a business wants to make money, and then people here slam them for it.

When in their shoes, the'd do exactly the same.

Oh please, you can't really be serious? Design cue's, is that what you call it? It's more like blatantly copying, and you know it damn well that is not right. There are companies like Motorola, Nokia, HTC etc who don't feel they need to alter their design and make their phones look like just another new iPhone design.

Taking design cue's is more when you get inspired by a particular product and build your own on few similar characteristics without pushing it too much and make it look identical.

For the record, Jobs himself even began to doubt their UI efforts before he passed. It's in a book called Design Crazy. An Apple employee shared that Jobs said something along the lines of, "I'm beginning to wonder if this is too much. It feels like we need to go back to something visually simpler"

A little offtopic, but thanks for the tip regarding the book. I picked it up on iBooks for less than 5 euros and it's been an interesting read for the money.

First we had 'Mac vs PC', and now this ..... We going round and running campaigns for the most popular device are we?

Just once i'd like to hear the sound of crickets in the keynote...

Jesus H you are joking?
To you a phone is magical? Not childbirth, or nature at it most wondrous, but a phone? I wish I had your perspective on things.
I couldn't NOT have the perspective I have on things and make it though life on this planet. I try to keep my life as positive and light hearted as possible... and it REALLY works well for me and for those around me who enjoy the side effects. Lots of things can be "magical" to a person, with varying degrees of being so. I'm 34, so if I could travel back in time to when I was 10 or even 15 and take a iPhone 6+ with me, I'm sure not only the younger me, but many many others would think such a device is also quite "magical" In life, you have to learn to appreciate things for what they are..... even the little things, should be able to bring you joy.

Than the "If it's not an iPhone, it's not an iPhone" tagline.

I agree that some parts of this most recent quote are annoying and make me wince, particularly "magical to use," but I think the main tagline, "Why there's nothing quite like iPhone," is much better than the old tagline.

Have you been through the whole site? Not sure you have! Check out the second to last page! It is the "if it's not an iPhone, it's not an iPhone" campaign!!

Who on earth anointed you, or them, guardian of the truth/non Kool aid? Your opinion is no more valid than the next shlub, and by shlub I include myself off course. Using the word "Kool-aid" for everyone who is not you is disrespectful, unwarranted and just pushing buttons.

As for the "Kool-Aid theory. It's funny how I can go through ALL the posts of those supposed neutral unrelentingly negative commenters (off the "Kool Aid" and cool headed (sic)) and most often see 95-100% negative posts since the very start going back years to sometimes a full decade!

I'm not talking here about people posting specific negative views on one subject, but those that will say something negative on ANY subject, no matter what it is.

So, when did the Kool aid actually act on these people, cause their posting history doesn'T reflect that AT ALL... Are you talking about imaginary Kool aid drinkers, or real ones, Hmmm? Are you using a straw to stir this kool aid?

Funny how actual sales numbers and satisfaction surveys don't match your own views, or even the tone of many in here. Is it at all possible that those fish bowl/forum opinions don't reflect the majority of Apple owners? Seems like it.

That Apple had a lot of failures in products and quality while Jobs was there... Yes, horrible isn't it. Job wasn't magical after all...

Building scenarios is fine and dandy if it actually matches reality. The reality of the posting history of the most constantly negative Apple commenters on this forum is almost invariably negative all the way through (there are a few exceptions), without relent (using words like Fanboy, Koolaid and invoking Jobs name).

That's a lot of energy spent on something someone hates seemingly with a passion for years. Often we see in this history people talking about many Apple products supposedly bought in the years after they've ranted about previous Apple products being crap. Yet, this cognitive dissonance doesn't seem to phase them at all; no sirree... They forge on.

I don't have an issue at all with those that say anything negative about Apple, especially when its specific and not some general vague general comments like : "Apple's quality has gone down the tube since Jobs died". These things are not meant for discussion, but to push buttons.

This is BY FAR the single best comment on MacRumors ever. It's also the most truthful I've ever seen on here as well! Thank you!

Well said.

I have my fair share of negative comments, like anyone else, but I always try to make sure they're justified and balanced with positive ones.

When it comes to Steve Jobs, I think he was an outstanding genius who was nonetheless human. His frailties made him who he was. I don't think he would have changed the world if he hadn't had those flaws; they're part and parcel of the man.

What a wondrous creature man is.

Sorry, but this is so untrue and disingenous . It is a FACT that you unreasonably and globally bash the watch at every opportunity. You can't counterbalance that by saying something good about the iPhone. You don't say anything specific with regard to your watch negativity. You recently said that using apple pay on the watch is a cumbersome and difficult maneuver with the watch. Many responded that this was simply not true. And you never even tried it yourself. So I think your statement above is simply untrue and frankly shamefully self serving.

Mods, please don't ban me for this. I simply stated the truth that anyone can determine for themselves and refuted an untrue statement. If a member can make an untrue statement and I can't refute it, then there is a problem with the forum. Thank you.

If I could decode Nazi messages with an iPhone, and not a touring machine, would it not be magical if I can't drag an mp3 onto a decodethesecretnazistuff machine?

Please. A reasonable person can still love Apple devices AND be critical of their failings. When they fail (and they do, like all companies) it isn't "magical". It's just plain old frustrating.

Even John Gruber, the biggest Apple fanboy I know, thinks this is "Apple at its most pompous":

APPLE AT ITS MOST POMPOUS

From a new iPhone page, “Why There’s Nothing Quite Like iPhone”:

Also amazing? The fact that there are over a million and a half capable, beautiful, inspiring apps on the App Store. And each and every one was reviewed and approved by a team of real live humans. With great taste. And great suggestions. And great ideas.

Yes, thank goodness for those ideas and suggestions from App Store reviewers that make our apps so great. And thanks even more for their great taste that keeps all but the best 100 or so Flappy Bird ripoffs out of the store.

A responsible person doesn't dismiss an amazing device because you can't drag mp3s onto it.

And are you SERIOUSLY complaining about the App Store?!

The iPhone.... There's nothing quite like the boring rows of icons you've come to love. It's magical!
Exactly. I'm not getting younger and my eyesight is definitely not getting better....but still teeny weeny icons with even tinier font for the icon name. That sucks! Common Apple, I can change the font size elsewhere, why can I not change the icon font size? I seem to spend too much time looking for an app, it just looks like a sea of icons with no easy recognition. Maybe my brain is impaired in this respect, but after years of OS X I still haven't got used to the dock icons so I use Apple+Space to type the first two letters of the app in Spotlight.

Apple is now realizing something I found out a very long time ago, a lot of their users are extremely stupid when it comes to tech as well as they are unteachable.

So tell me, why would the normal user need to know how all these things work?

Can the moderators start filtering out all the Debby downers here? Criticism of Apple is fair but people here continually criticise Apple, and ignore the reported facts. (see: Apple watch is failing)

This site used to have a great community but it's gone way down hill in the last year.

You can change the icon size on iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. Again, blind idiotic criticism.

All,

I am angry with Apple. After 15 years of loving everything I saw them put out, I do not like ANY of their new products.

I don't like what they've done (comparatively) to OS X and iOS aesthetically (except for the glass panes--I like that bit).

I don't like how they are locking things down tighter and tighter and raising the garden wall higher and higher with every iteration.

I don't like what they've done to their laptops and desktops hardware-wise (they're impressive, but unnecessarily so at the expense of "tinkerability", repairability, and flexibility)

I could not care less about the Apple watch (yet).

My love of Apple is quickly being relegated to the pages of history, because the Apple of today is simply not the same company that made products I fell in love with.

That company died with Jobs.

But one thing is clear: Apple KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING.

Apple's sales on almost ALL fronts are so impressive that the only logical conclusion is that the problem is ME, not them.

And from the perspective of Apple and its current fans, that is okay.

Their products are still high-quality, easy-to-use, and attractive. They're marketing is, as always, classy and effective. The target audience GETS IT.

And (unfortunately) there is still no replacement for OS X, in my opinion.

So basically, it just sucks to be me. :(

yeah well if it's not an iPhone, and it's a flagship, a competitor's is usually better. :p

...snipped a useless bunch of text...

All Apple had to do was outfit the MacBook Air with a Retina display and what did they give us instead? A wholly new architected piece of machinery that is about as feature complete as an iPad. Whoever asked for such a contraption? Not me. Not anyone I know. As for the iPhone, I can't believe what they've done with it. Thinness is not a feature. A phone's thinness has no direct correlation to the ease of one-handed use. All Ive and his team had to do was take the iPhone 4 and stick in a five-inch display and call it a day.

...snipped a useless bunch of text...

The statement that ive highlighted, is what Samsung has done with the S6, so I think your thinking about the wrong company. Also, even with a "quad core 3 gbs of ram blah blah blah" my 6plus out lasts (in battery life) and performs better then anyone I know with a S6 / S6 plus. Hell it out performs a S4 and the iphone is "underpowered".

Its not always about hardware, you obviously don't know that. Also a macbook with retina display isnt going to happen until the tech is ready. Dont you dare say "well dell did it". Dell's also had complaints about the screen, the touch digitizer and the HORRID PLACEMENT OF THE WEBCAM. No designer makes such a ****ing stupid mistake. Every professional and non professional review of the XPS 13 complains about these things, especially the webcam.

bloody hell it's vomitville, how about being realistic Apple, thats far more credit worthy, we have an array of iPhone 4'2, 5s a 6 & 6 Plus in my family and we are tired of battery usage going ballistic , updates being inconsistent, the GUI getting every more slower!!! and iCloud trying to charge us for storage we can get for free from Google and many others..

EG my latest was I wanted to load a word doc and a PDF to read on holiday, I thought I'll use iCloud but there is no iCloud app , hmm I'll put them in my preview folder , nope that don't work , ok I'll add them to pages folder, nope that don't read PDF's..balls I'll drop em in Google drive simple I can read both anywhere..WTF are you doing Apple..loosing the bloody plot I think.
