What non-developers would be interested in "Best Practices for Cocoa Animation", "A Practical Guide to the App Sandbox", "Optimize your Code Using LLVM" and so on?

Nothing goes without a developer id.

I know Steve Jobs is no longer around, but come on. If you really want to know my case, I work in the Marketing field, and I am a computer enthusiastic. And I like Apple's practises in those fields. You know as well as I do that all they do during keynotes is not just talk about computer mantra.

Ahh this is ugly....
Android moving forward, ios moving backward... Well done...

moving forward to what? i think apple has always kept the clean minimalist look and this is a big step in that direction... i think it's very nice not cluttered and crisp on the screen.

Uh...They were right. That looks a lot like the App store look.

I don't see a paragraph where they said it looks like the app store.
this look(the new app) is still sporting the silver look from 2012 wwdc app and also found in iphoto, so nothing new in this design.

I doubt they would just simply just give away their new design. I am sure this is far from what iOS will look like

What advantage would XPC have on iOS?

One thing is that having XPC on both devices makes it easier to share code. Like GCD code that runs unchanged on MacOS X and iOS, having XPC code running unchanged would be excellent. Especially if you take sandboxing seriously.

In that case, a developer account is free.

How could they say that when Apple had not shown the new app store yet? And if you can't see the visual differences between last year's app and the current one, then i can't help you. It's obviously quite different.

Apple hasn't announced any live streaming plans, either in the app or elsewhere. They've done it before for media events, but not for WWDC keynotes where people are paying $1500+ to see it live.

You don't pay $1500 to see it live; it's not a rock concert or a sports event. It's a conference.

You pay that money for things like the labs, being able to directly ask questions to Apple engineers (seriously; it's like the only chance you ever get), being able to get code-level support, etc.

You don't pay for the thrill of being there.

I could see the Keynote being streamed. That particular session is often more a PR event than anything.

I noticed a lot of people don't think this looks like windows 8. While I agree that the icon isn't terribly similar, those menus certainly are. The first think I thought of was text messaging on windows phone 8 when I saw the menus. No, they aren't mirror images, by any stretch of the word. But there certainly are similarities. Frankly, I am and have always been ok with that.

and this does not? it reminds me of one of those early iPhone apps before devs got a grip of iphone app development in 2008. or AOL especially their aim services in 2001 :D

but im not gonna complain until i see the real thing hopefully next week

There seems to be this resurgence of simplicity and clean lines going on, even when it comes to hardware, including computers, and even cars. We went from the flowing, bubbly" look if early 2000's, to rough lines again. I don't personally mind it, but I can see how people might feel this is a step back.

What I do find kind of crazy is that we have these ultra high resolution screens yet we are going back to simple lines. Windows phone is the ultimate example of this. It looks about equal at half the pixel density, or less, as is evidenced by some of last years handsets.

A clue to the new iOS7 look perhaps?

Hope not. It looks half assed and gives the impression of "oh we want to go flat but keep it like we had before....lets just remove all color and be done with it"

This very screenshot starkly shows the difference between previous Apple-designed icons and this new WWDC icon. Lack of gloss or pattern. May be looking into this too much but it seems a strong indication.

Yeah, but I like the gloss better :(

Will there be any live streaming for non-developers?

It looks like anyone with a developer account can login, even with the free account, not just the ones who paid the $99 dollar fee. I'm not part of the $99 developer club, but I do have the free developer account and it let me in no problem.

Really hoping they live stream the keynote itself through Apple TV again. But look at those screenshots, wasn't iOS 7 described as "flat" and "black and white?" Those images seem to tick both of those boxes. Could we be looking at iOS 7? Ooh, Apple are such teasers.

And if you have a Mac but no iOS device?

Note the gloss-free icon.

It reminds me of this:

I doubt the app itself is much indication of the interface because it is still running in iOS6.

It looks a lot like some of my app icons already do, namely Facebook.

And if you have a Mac but no iOS device?

... do Apple developers without an iOS device exist? I feel like they must be in a ridiculously tiny minority... I'd be interested in knowing how many of them there are.

Meh I tend to code on my computer so I'm not a fan of the iOS apps / iBooks for devs.

The app isn't for you to code with. It's so you can watch all the workshops without having to drop $1500 on a ticket and airfare to California. Then you take that knowledge and code away on your device of choice.

Not sure why any dev would be bothered enough to post this.

Looking at all the sessions at WWDC -

'Session to be announced' - 54
'Lab to be announced' - 45

Looks like a lot of new information will come next week!

This is a lot more unnamed sessions and labs from any other WWDC I remember. In the past there were like 10-20 sessions 'to be announced', not 50+

The icon is very good and the little changes in the app can give you a hint of how will look the GUI also. It's what i was expecting. Flat and simple. Love it.

Going to be big...

Lots of "Session to be Announced" in the calendar...

Someone get down to Moscone center and see how many banners are being hung up that are covered up. :D

Most of the sites (Including MacRumors) now use modern web coding for their live streams, that worked quite well (in the past) with iOS devices.

Thanks! I wasn't entirely sure, then I supposed I'll be fine with any of them. Now it'll just be a matter of which one is reporting the best, which we won't know until then.

Noticed quite a few "Session to be Announced" postings. "Bringing Your iOS Apps to OS X" seems intriguing. Overall, a lot of the focus seems to be around iOS development along with iCloud. A few "OpenGL" focused labs, if only core support was improved in OS X.
