I'm surprised Opel/Vauxhall aren't a launch partner as I think the Opel/Vauxhall Adam was the first European car to have Siri Eyes Free. Also the Keynote slide Eddy Cue used to announce iOS in the Car showed the Opel/Vauxhall (I think Chevrolet in the US) Intellilink infotainment system working with iOS in the Car.

Hopefully more models will be announced at Geneva

Opel/Vauxhall is "GM", not Chevrolet (which is also GM, so you're not totally off).

Not a fan of BMW at all. Benz is way better in my opinion.

But regardless, in terms of electronics in the dash, tesla seems ahead.

mercedes is making more interesting cars right now. s class, c class, then their higher range cars like the sls and cla amg. the s class (2014) build quality is atrocious almost as bad if not bad as the jag xj. and some of their interiors look rubbish but improving.

I hope bmw does't make trucks or buses. and slows down these gt, fake coupes and mpvs.

Audi is nice but it feels too much like vw and drives and looks wise (interior) like bmw. Also i really hate their mmi. They need to set themselves apart from bmw/vw.

Ford ditches Microsoft for Blackberry

Not sure if I'm the first to mention this here, but Ford announced they are ditching Microsoft for Blackberry QNX as the OS for their SYNC system.

This comes after Ford's CEO turned down an offer to be the CEO at Microsoft. QNX is currently in Audi and BMW vehicles. QNX is also used for military drones and nuclear power plant control systems.

Just think of the SDK and possibilities with this? Especially if the car manufacturers open real time engine information. We could have laptimers for track day drivers, journey mappers, reminders to stop off when driving passed places..... it could be brilliant.

" who are those guys, the Android users? Partly they are a less affluent group: less educated, younger, and lower income "

"a significantly higher proportion of U.S. iOS users have a household income over $100,000 — 41 percent, versus 24 percent of Android users.!

this sounds great. now if someone could give me around $50,000 to but one of these. that would be great.

"The deal marks the first time that Apple is embedding its software in devices other than its own branded products."

No it doesn't. Apple had a clone licensing program with System7 in the 90s that was terminated in 1997 when Jobs returned to Apple.

Seriously, I often think that most articles about Apple are written by people who didn't know apple existed until the iPod.

Seriously, I don't think you know what embedded software and an embedded device is.

Carplay is Apple embedded software and is part of an embedded system. System 7 licensed on a general purpose PC is definitely not.

This "rumor" or whatever it is, serves only to generate clicks, speculation and to fill Apple's insatiable need for attention. Beyond that it's vaporware.

Oh sure Apple may actually have feasibility studies and other investments of their time and energy, but these world class car companies are chock full of very smart engineers, designers, etc al.

Not too be outsmarted or easily impressed with any tech companies, their supremely successful and technically superb Production Car and Formula One programs are filled with technical superiority Apple can only dream of.

They too are very well aware that any rumors of a strategic relationship with Apple brings them equal attention. But that's where the divide is. Before they'd ever let Apple qualify as a vendor, there's more challenges than Apples ever faced.

Talk is cheap and Apples got big lips.

What is "vaporware"? The confirmed and real CarPlay?

I tend to agree with this statement, but the price tag on Mercedes is completely unrealistic. The new CLA base is like $30,000, but add a few options and it's no longer affordable. It's still probably better than the BMW despite the ease of driving.

Audis feel related to VW, but they are certainly not only the same. Lexus and Acura are far more blatant badge engineered cars than Audi. That being said, Audi had better be a lot better than VW as VW is a reliability dumpster fire.

Hmm... I think I can give you the source. All premium Android phones (Android phones that are as expensive as iPhone) are using Jelly Bean or Kit kat. Kit Kat has %1.4 market share and Jelly bean has %59,1 market share. This mean %40 of the Android phones are budget models. Only %60 of Android phones are worth mentioning and Android has %50 market share. This means Androids real market share is %30 (%20 of Android phones are very old ones that run Gingerbread, honeycomb or lower. These phones are incapable of running most apps so they are not worth mentioning) And this %30 market share is normal-priced Android phones + Luxury Ones. Apple's market share is %25, with just one premium phone.

This has nothing to do with luxury automobiles and their drivers' phone habits.

Yeah mercedes makes some overpriced cars lol also their dealers are kinda dumb and snobby.

Hmm... I think you should have quoted whole sentence ''very old ones that run Gingerbread, honeycomb or lower. These phones are incapable of running most apps'' Most apps on Play Store require Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) or higher (Jelly Bean, Kit Kat)

This is not true, most apps require 2.3 or older thanks to Android Support Library
