Apple today announced the upcoming debut of multiple new immersive video experiences designed for the Vision Pro headset, which are available starting this week.

"Boundless," which premieres tonight at 6:00 p.m. Pacific Time, features "once-in-a-lifetime trips," starting with a hot air balloon ride episode. Viewers will be able to see the landscape of Cappadocia, Türkiye. A second episode, "Arctic Surfing," will come out this fall.

In August, the Apple Vision Pro will get a new installment of "Wild Life," a nature documentary series that brings viewers up close to "some of the most charismatic creatures on the planet." The new episode will feature Kenya's Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, where keepers look after orphaned elephants. An episode later in the year will feature a group of divers in the Bahamas.

In September, Apple will debut the first episode of "Elevated," an aerial travel series that "whisks viewers around iconic vistas from staggering heights" that include volcanoes, waterfalls, and more in Hawaii. A second episode will feature an autumn scene in New England.

Later in 2024, Apple also plans to introduce a new immersive performance from The Weeknd, as well as a scripted Apple Immersive short film called "Submerged." The short film is set during World War II, featuring sailors struggling to survive a deadly torpedo attack. There will also be a behind-the-scenes view of the 2024 NBA All-Star Weekend, and a new sports series called Big-Wave Surfing.
"Apple Immersive Video is a groundbreaking leap forward for storytelling, offering Apple Vision Pro users remarkable experiences with an unparalleled sense of realism and immersion," said Tor Myhren, Apple's vice president of Marketing Communications. "From soaring over volcanoes in Hawaii and surfing huge waves in Tahiti, to enjoying performances by the world's biggest artists and athletes from all-new perspectives, Apple Immersive Video revolutionizes the way people experience places, stories, sports, and more by making viewers feel like they're truly there. It's the next generation of visual storytelling, and we're excited to bring it to more people around the world."
The new Apple Immersive video content is available from the Apple TV app in Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, France, Germany, Japan, Singapore, the U.K., and the U.S. Users in China can watch the content through the Migu Video and Tencent Video apps.

Huge news for the sixteen people who purchased a Vision Pro
It takes a while to produce this content. This is not for the 16 (give or take) of us who have Vision Pro now (though we'll appreciate it). It's so there's more content ready when a mass market Apple Vision is released.

And it's not as if everyone will have seen it already by then.

Thank god. This is desperately needed content. Apple is moving way too slowly on user and professionally-created content and sharing.

People aren’t using this thing as a face computer en masse as Apple envisioned. Time to pivot and embrace the good stuff ✌🏻

so how do these work? Is it like a 5 minute demo or a documentary or a full audio/video 'you are there standing in one place but can look around' or something?

Don’t be a hater lol. I enjoy my avp. Best purchase I’ve made this year so far

I can’t wait for them to release a lower cost one so those who are perpetually hating because it’s out their price range can enjoy it
For a lot of us apple fans, it’s not about the price necessarily but the degree of uncomfortabiity and what I’d rather do more comfortably and quicker on an iPad or my laptop/desktops. I had tried the Vision Pro, fully expecting to keep what appeared to be the best tech ever, but dreaded putting it on more than 15-20 mins for anything. I really enjoyed those 15-20 mins and also tried multiple light seals at the store, but ultimately it was always something on my head weighing it down the entire time I used it. Returned it in the end and until the comfort improves, I would rather use devices that don’t need to but put on my face. At least in the meantime, I have a pair of XR glasses which at least I can watch shows/movies without too much pressure resting on my face and much more ease of use. Looking forward to see where this tech goes. I’m glad for sure for people who have this device that apple is slowly trickling out some more content.

It’s so thoughtful how those who have no interest at all to purchase Vision Pro take time out of their busy schedule to inform everyone on a Vision Pro thread “how they have no interest whatsoever in purchasing this failed product and that they are bored with it etc.” Funny..when something doesn’t interest me I’m not hanging around wasting more time on this “failed” product. I’m gone!

It was never intended to be “en masse” in the very same way a Pro Display XDR, Mac Studio/Pro, and iPad Pro aren’t as well.

Such devices are the Porsche of their respective device categories: Priced and made for people wanting a premium and hard to beat core experience for those heavily invested in such device categories.

Glad to see more unique interesting content being produced for the platform.
Actually what I meant to say was- glad to see the platform producing unique interesting content—virtual experiences that people would not likely be able to experience in real life nor close to real life on traditional virtual platforms.

« Apple Launching New Apple Immersive Videos »

Question from non English speaker , I thought the correct way to say it would be « Apple launches » or « Apple is Launching » ?
