For a lot of us apple fans, it’s not about the price necessarily but the degree of uncomfortabiity and what I’d rather do more comfortably and quicker on an iPad or my laptop/desktops. I had tried the Vision Pro, fully expecting to keep what appeared to be the best tech ever, but dreaded putting it on more than 15-20 mins for anything. I really enjoyed those 15-20 mins and also tried multiple light seals at the store, but ultimately it was always something on my head weighing it down the entire time I used it. Returned it in the end and until the comfort improves, I would rather use devices that don’t need to but put on my face. At least in the meantime, I have a pair of XR glasses which at least I can watch shows/movies without too much pressure resting on my face and much more ease of use. Looking forward to see where this tech goes. I’m glad for sure for people who have this device that apple is slowly trickling out some more content.
You forgot to test the Apple sofa Tim is using in horizontal position when putting on his AVP. 😄

It’s so thoughtful how those who have no interest at all to purchase Vision Pro take time out of their busy schedule to inform everyone on a Vision Pro thread “how they have no interest whatsoever in purchasing this failed product and that they are bored with it etc.” Funny..when something doesn’t interest me I’m not hanging around wasting more time on this “failed” product. I’m gone!
It’s not funny, it’s tragic.
What did one VP hater say to the other VP hater…😭

stop effing about and drop some m4 macs
I'm with you on that. The problem is that the vast majority of consumers could not care less about Macintosh. Their iPhones and iPads are sufficient for most uses. I don't want to give Apple ideas, but it feels like Mac, and especially Studio Macs, are going to a longer refresh cycle, the same way they have been doing for Pro models for the last 10 years.

Is an Apple TV subscription required to view these ? The Apple Press release says "Available at no additional cost from the Apple TV app" but no mention of needing, or not needing a subscription.

It was never intended to be “en masse” in the very same way a Pro Display XDR, Mac Studio/Pro, and iPad Pro aren’t as well.

Such devices are the Porsche of their respective device caseworker: Proced and made for people wanted a premium and hard to beat core experience for those heavily invested in such device categories.
Really though? I don’t see Apple spending years developing and hyping a product, only to make it a niche. They literally built out a whole OS, App Store, api, infrastructure in the iCloud ecosystem, and modified other OS in their ecosystem to ramp up AVP and VisionOS. They may not admit it, but this is their most important growth product. They didn’t bet the house on it, but this thing won’t fail easily either.

Let me guess - comments will be littered with people hating on something they either think is too expensive or won't ever gain any traction since they don't like it. Who cares what you think. PS I don't own an AVP and have no plans to buy one... but why not comment and engage with MR since this site rocks and I like engaging with negative people.. ahh I mean people in general.

The first gen AVP hasn't and won't sell much in the grand scheme of things. I bet in the future this type of tech will rule the world. Hell you can barely get a teenage or young adult off a computer these days (LOL I know you can insert computer for smartphone/tablet as well - depends on your household - my son is 18 and is into programming). In the future, concerts, movies, live sports, etc. will tap into this kind of tech and it will be huge. The same "experts" with their "thoughts" will be proven wrong in the future. I've seen the Vegas Sphere from afar when in Vegas and I remember people saying how stupid that was.. umm have you seen video from concerts inside that venue? Umm its unreal!

In the late 90s/early 2000s many people in the custom car scene (which I am apart of) were installing monitors in their headrests + had flip out head units + CD/DVD changers, etc. If you would have told that industry 25 years ago that their business model would be crushed in the future by handheld devices they would have laughed at you. I worked in the cellular / tech industry for 20+ years and visited stereo/car alarm (LOL) shops, big box retailers, etc. No one in that industry foresaw smartphones, tablets, streaming would negate so much of the car audio industry.

Now we all know things will come and go and there is arguably still a huge car audio market... just not as much as swapping head units, installing CD changers (lol) etc. Smartphones really changed the game with MP3s, streaming, etc. Heck I would argue the tablet killed TVs all up in the headrest like Mase said. But think about this... companies like Apple make and have a lot of money. They are testing the waters for products they want to be mainstream in 5-10 years down the road. We laugh (I know I do) sometimes at seeing people wearing AVP. When VCRs came out they were HUGE! Remember "big screen TVs" (Steve Berman reminded Eminem that he should rap about those since Dre was lol) vs. and the size of a TV now? Remember home stereo cabinets with the dual tape cassette, CD carousels, record player... you don't technically need anything like that anymore because ummm.. no surprise tech as gotten much smaller. What Apple did with AVP will help lay the foundation for the future. Do I care what you think? I really don't. Hell I think I'm stupid for typing this much in a forum (really we still come to forums in 2024?). But I do like to transfer my crazy thoughts from my brain to this box I am typing in. I will summarize with - Being in the cellular / tech industry for 20+ years I've seen things that we never thought possible in the 1990s.

Peace, and try to be positive. Everything will be ok..

It's great news, if Apple weren't so secretive with this products it would've had content on day one. This will be great a year or two from now when there is actually a lot of content available for anyone who purchases a headset. I am sure it will be stunningly beautiful and enjoyable. If I owned one it would force me to view this sitting up or standing up though. And when I am home I usually lay down when enjoying content. Thats the main problem with Vision Pro. It gets disorienting to be laying down viewing a vision that is as if you were standing up. Just wont feel right. All that to say you arent relaxing when using one to view immersive content. And when it's great, you will look silly standing there looking around waving your hands and smiling. They need to offer free games like they do video, asap.

Thank god. This is desperately needed content. Apple is moving way too slowly on user and professionally-created content and sharing.

The Vision Pro is giving you an early adopter experience, the same way 4k TVs did in 2012. It took years for prices to come down to the mainstream market. Content was limited to streaming a handful of shows. The first series "House of Cards", didn't come out until 2013. Apple only announced 4k recording on iPhones in 2014. Broadcast in the US didn't start in earnest until 2016 and rollout took the next couple of years.

We are 5 months out from the GA of Apple Vision Pro. If you didn't get a 2016 4k-TV experience in 2012, you shouldn't expect to get a 2028 AR/VR experience from Vision Pro today. That isn't how technology adoption works in consumer markets.

Honestly, it may take longer for the AVP. There are competing devices available which have different optimization points. Media standards aren't quite universal yet. Content for one device may not work well on a competitor's headset. I don't think you can count on Apple to do it all. The market has to coalesce around standards and adoption (whether AVP or Meta Quest or HTC or etc.) has to be more mainstream, not just AVP early adopters and gamers.

I would dedicate a lot of $$$ if I were at Apple for this stuff. AVP needs it desperately.

Don’t be a hater lol. I enjoy my avp. Best purchase I’ve made this year so far

I can’t wait for them to release a lower cost one so those who are perpetually hating because it’s out their price range can enjoy it
If the notion that only those who can't afford $3.499 on a consumer electronics product, and everyone who can afford $3.499 has bought it, then there sure are a lot of poor people in the World.

We have to ask, did someone erase the entire middle class, upper class and elites after AVP dropped?

Nobody has a few grand to spend?

Then, if that's the case, I must say that Apple missed the mark even more with AVP than I first thought

-They not only created a product that barely anyone wants or is talking about, they also launched it at the worst possible time in recent history, where seemingly everyone has lost all their money but still manages to pay their bills, buy new iPhones, MacBooks, Teslas, clothing, vacations etc.

Such an odd time. One could almost suspect that AVP is just unpopular with all demographics, both those who can and can't afford it...?

No, that couldn't be. Apple only ever does right. How else would it be flawless???!

The average consumer just doesn't have the money or the credit score to set up an interest free payment plan with Apple. That's the only answer!

Because going into debt to pay anything and everything is not something hundreds of thousands of people do every single day, all around the globe, for all kinds of purchases. Not at all, that's not a cornerstone of modern society, not at all.

Wait, I thought we weren't believing the analyst reports? Are we now believing the reports again? Or is it only when it serves our narrative? I'm so confused! o_O
6-month-old analyst reports recycled as click-bait are of limited use, except to people grinding an anti-Apple agenda. You aren't supposed to believe anything. You are supposed to use current information and use your brain. If using your brain confuses you, then I can't help you.

Not out of my price range, so move on to the next speculation why I'm not getting one.

These are pre-recorded where you can just "look around", right?

When I can climb into the hot air balloon and guide it in any direction that I want to go, then we'd be talking! I guess that's bordering more on a game-style app. Maybe a new category called Experience apps? Would love to travel to outer space!
