It’s so thoughtful how those who have no interest at all to purchase Vision Pro take time out of their busy schedule to inform everyone on a Vision Pro thread “how they have no interest whatsoever in purchasing this failed product and that they are bored with it etc.” Funny..when something doesn’t interest me I’m not hanging around wasting more time on this “failed” product. I’m gone!
Hahahah! They are like people who couldn't afford to get into the Super Bowl, but hang around the stadium talking about how much the game sucks.

If it weren't for visits to this webpage, I'd never hear about AVP. None of the tech regulars mention it much, never see an ad for. No big name celebrities are walking around with one on.
Exactly this!!!!!!

I see the average person talking about far less advanced and much easier to access (afford) products far more than "bleeding edge" AVP.

People actually want iPhones, AirPods, MacBoos Air, AirPods Max, Apple Watch Ultras, iPads Pro M4, etc.

Everyone from wealthy influencers, celebrities, politicians, down to regular joes you bump into on the street: They'll have one or several of the products I just mentioned.

But I'm not seeing anyone using AVP. Not even influencers and tech-influencers ever get spotted candidly wearing AVP or talk about the things they're doing on AVP.

Like, where is the tech-influencer or even just influencer, or journalist, or whoever, with the video or text post titled "AVP is Amazing - You Should Get it Despite the Price!"?

Or even something less positive where they just experiment with it, break it, criticize it, whatever. There's really no new content on AVP coming from anyone.

It's basically dead right now.

The only time AVP reached my orbit again after launch, was on Marques Brownlee's podcast when they went through the WWDC announcements for AVP (they weren't excited about the updates, just to be clear).

Wait, I thought we weren't believing the analyst reports? Are we now believing the reports again? Or is it only when it serves our narrative? I'm so confused! o_O
There’s a big difference between analyst reports and rumors. Analysts use analytics and real numbers to estimate shipments or returns. Rumor spreaders use 2nd hand info and speculate from there.

What makes you think you’ll see an AVP outside when the device is specifically designed for indoor spaces? It took about a year for me to see Apple Watches in the wild and they are arguable the most visible and outdoor targeted product in Apple’s catalog.

But AVP will never be seen en masse in its current form. It’s too expensive, large and, like I already stated, not designed for use while on the go. The 2nd gen version might start appearing in a few years but it will not be until Apple introduces an entirely redesigned pair of glasses that we will see it in the wild.

Apple today announced the upcoming debut of multiple new immersive video experiences designed for the Vision Pro headset, which are available starting this week.

apple-immersive-video-boundless.jpeg

"Boundless," which premieres tonight at 6:00 p.m. Pacific Time, features "once-in-a-lifetime trips," starting with a hot air balloon ride episode. Viewers will be able to see the landscape of Cappadocia, Türkiye. A second episode, "Arctic Surfing," will come out this fall.

In August, the Apple Vision Pro will get a new installment of "Wild Life," a nature documentary series that brings viewers up close to "some of the most charismatic creatures on the planet." The new episode will feature Kenya's Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, where keepers look after orphaned elephants. An episode later in the year will feature a group of divers in the Bahamas.

In September, Apple will debut the first episode of "Elevated," an aerial travel series that "whisks viewers around iconic vistas from staggering heights" that include volcanoes, waterfalls, and more in Hawaii. A second episode will feature an autumn scene in New England.

Later in 2024, Apple also plans to introduce a new immersive performance from The Weeknd, as well as a scripted Apple Immersive short film called "Submerged." The short film is set during World War II, featuring sailors struggling to survive a deadly torpedo attack. There will also be a behind-the-scenes view of the 2024 NBA All-Star Weekend, and a new sports series called Big-Wave Surfing.

The new Apple Immersive video content is available from the Apple TV app in Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, France, Germany, Japan, Singapore, the U.K., and the U.S. Users in China can watch the content through the Migu Video and Tencent Video apps.

When the OmniMAX film format debuted in Boston Museum of Science (in 1985 or so - it was the predecessor to the inferior IMAX) films were shown with a nice preview clip in OmniMAX format including "New England in the Fall". It will be nice to se the new version on my AVP

It was never intended to be “en masse” in the very same way a Pro Display XDR, Mac Studio/Pro, and iPad Pro aren’t as well.

Such devices are the Porsche of their respective device caseworker: Proced and made for people wanted a premium and hard to beat core experience for those heavily invested in such device categories.
Lol, i would buy everything else pro but not AVP. Sorry, I meant I bought and returned. The product and execution is so unimaginative

Well because AR was supposed to mix with real life, and have a lot more use cases outside?

Maybe a wearable spatial device which can help you where you are less familiar with makes more sense than a strapped on iPad?

Because you have TVs, monitors, computers, sound systems fighting for your time in home?

Is it like a 5 minute demo or a documentary or a full audio/video 'you are there standing in one place but can look around' or something?

Generally yes. As with a movie movement comes when the camera is repositioned.

I've seen the Vegas Sphere from afar when in Vegas and I remember people saying how stupid that was.. umm have you seen video from concerts inside that venue? Umm its unreal!

Yes. The excitement about the Sphere clearly shows the interest in immersive experiences. Apple just needs to get the weight and cost down.

Would be interested in hearing from a VP owner who has also seen a Sphere show. Wondering how they compare.

If it weren't for visits to this webpage, I'd never hear about AVP. None of the tech regulars mention it much,

Tech sites concentrate on "what's new" in order to drive hits. If it isn't new or changed today it is history and isn't of any interest.

if Apple weren't so secretive with this products it would've had content on day one.

It takes a lot of time to figure out what is best and how to implement it. It would have been nice to have more, yes. Looks as if they have worked out many of the details given all of the new content that is coming. Releases seem to be accelerating.

They are there, although that text may not be in the title. Watching one from Moog:

Have you seen any Meta Quest headsets being used outside? They have sold millions of headsets over years and I’ve never seen one outside. I don’t think anything that could be described as a “headset” is expected to be used outside.

Nah, it remains a useful way to allow the people engaging in conspicuous consumption ("I paid $3500 for magic space goggles! I'm part of the cognoscenti!") to flex. In that way, everyone gets a little something from the exchange.
Makes no sense, thanks!

"conspicuous consumption" Yeah, it's sooooo WILD to comment on posts about content for a device that you own...What a flex!

Yeah, what an insanely ridiculous retort, out of all of them....

"No big name celebrities are walking around with one one"

Simply breathtaking.

These are pre-recorded where you can just "look around", right?

When I can climb into the hot air balloon and guide it in any direction that I want to go, then we'd be talking! I guess that's bordering more on a game-style app. Maybe a new category called Experience apps? Would love to travel to outer space!
But....you cant steer hot air balloons. Its physics.

Look, Think Different, no one is expecting self awareness out of someone who puts a dead CEO's picture as their avatar and adopts a marketing tagline as their username. I get that subtlety is not your goal.

Imagine, then, that people may have a similarly negative passion toward a product that, while promising, comes complete with significant downsides and no immediate pathway forward for success. Apple may be on the cusp of great things with the AVP. Or, it may be a multi-year-long slog where they have to claw for every sale. Clearly, Apple of all companies has the focus, patience, and wallet to weather such a war of attrition. But accepting nothing less than fealty toward a product that costs as much as a month's mortgage on a really nice house is... well, it's something. "Something" that most people aren't willing to engage in.

No company deserves to get their marketing message spread for free. Especially Apple. The way for Apple to improve the AVP (or any product, really) is to feel the sting about the things that missed the mark. Only then will they have the hunger to get it right.

Imagine that, a profile that's a nod to the (supposed) shared interest of Apple Inc. on a website dedicated to the happenings of the company big or small – crazy!
