They need more content. Faster.

This dribble of bland, prerecorded content reminds me of the old ViewMaster reels from the '70's. Always great to get a new reel but, seriously, who wants to look at seven, full color 3D views of "Paris at Night" over and over?

Apple needs fresh content daily. How about a 24x7 news stream? Live reporting from all over the world. Experience the heart of the action. A reason to put your AVP on daily. Learn something too.

I'd buy that.
A 24x7 news stream won't be impressive in 3D unless it contains a lot of moving location footage. That isn't likely to happen until a) the professional recording equipment is cheap and widely available; and b) there is a business case for it. Right now there are not enough users of AVP. Too many of the users of other headsets are only interested in games, so even if you could include all AR/VR headset users, the market is still too small. Give it time. An optimistic timeline would put it at 3 to 5 years for the technology to be crossing the chasm to mainstream. Content developers will follow.

that’s intentionally - one should carefully read it

Unfortunately it has the opposite effect. The font is so light, the contrast so low that it is visually painful to read and my inclination is to skip it. No issue with using a different font, just use one that doesn't cause eye problems and headaches.

Scrolling through the thread in review saw that you posted some additional comments. Ignored them as they were just too hard to read. Sad to miss them since you make some interesting observations.

It makes one wonder if they will skip the M3 desktop models and go right to M4. And if they do that the only investor-acceptable reason is that refresh demand on Macs isn't high enough to support an aggressive release schedule for desktops.

Lots of articles about why they are skipping the M3 releases and going to M4 instead. The N3B chips were a dead end

The moral of the story is the negative forum comments on Macrumours led me to believe the VP was a failed product despite having never seen it myself before it became available in the UK. I now wonder if many of the negative commentators have actually got a VP themselves or even had a demo in an Apple Store. Are they just negatively commenting on a product they have no experience of? Being negative purely because they can be negative!
If you are going to be positive or negative about a product, perhaps it would be worthwhile owning or having experience of the product. After all, we don't go onto Amazon and leave reviews on products that we never bought.
I agree with your sentiment, but I think you are a little overoptimistic, as people do leave reviews for things they never bought on Amazon. I have seen reviews for items that have yet to be released, and seen responding reviews by other reviewers just to point out that fact. Amazon even had a "verified" tag for those people that were actual purchasers.

The internet doesn't vet opinions and that is all most of us have.

Same in Lisboa a couple of years ago coiner to 15 years again when I was 1st time there - but the is a solution for that - don't go there - I just skip the crowded places - I was hoping west Canada would be such a place - I am not going there again. Just not with the money - let alone the horrible food.
I spent last year > $ 8 k for a three week vacation in Canada's wilderness and it was not worth ⅓ of it - with all the wildfires and tons of tourists one of my worst vacations ever - I liked the east cost a few years earlier much more.
Where exactly were you vacationing in Canada's wilderness with tourists and bad food?

You should be able to find actual wilderness where you would be alone and preparing your own food. The increased temperatures of the last couple of decades does make fires a risk in summer, though, so you might want to try winter, at which point you should be able to avoid people completely!

Apple today announced the upcoming debut of multiple new immersive video experiences designed for the Vision Pro headset, which are available starting this week.

"Boundless," which premieres tonight at 6:00 p.m. Pacific Time, features "once-in-a-lifetime trips," starting with a hot air balloon ride episode. Viewers will be able to see the landscape of Cappadocia, Türkiye. A second episode, "Arctic Surfing," will come out this fall.

In August, the Apple Vision Pro will get a new installment of "Wild Life," a nature documentary series that brings viewers up close to "some of the most charismatic creatures on the planet." The new episode will feature Kenya's Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, where keepers look after orphaned elephants. An episode later in the year will feature a group of divers in the Bahamas.

In September, Apple will debut the first episode of "Elevated," an aerial travel series that "whisks viewers around iconic vistas from staggering heights" that include volcanoes, waterfalls, and more in Hawaii. A second episode will feature an autumn scene in New England.

Later in 2024, Apple also plans to introduce a new immersive performance from The Weeknd, as well as a scripted Apple Immersive short film called "Submerged." The short film is set during World War II, featuring sailors struggling to survive a deadly torpedo attack. There will also be a behind-the-scenes view of the 2024 NBA All-Star Weekend, and a new sports series called Big-Wave Surfing.

The new Apple Immersive video content is available from the Apple TV app in Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, France, Germany, Japan, Singapore, the U.K., and the U.S. Users in China can watch the content through the Migu Video and Tencent Video apps.

The Apple press release notes:
  • These Apple Immersive Video pieces are available at no additional cost from the Apple TV app in Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, France, Germany, Japan, Singapore, the U.K., and the U.S. Users in China can access Apple Immersive Video from the Migu Video and Tencent Video apps.
  • New Apple Immersive Video pieces debut in U.S. English with subtitles in additional languages. Title availability varies by country or region.
From the first part of the second point, I'm hoping it is just delayed a bit as they add French, or just start rolling out internationally. Hopefully, it isn't the second part with the title availability varying by country, otherwise this is a truly terrible press release.

Generally things I can’t afford, I don’t spend my time posting about terrible the products is. Because I don’t care lol.

I can’t imagine talking about how crappy $120k Tesla is and I’ve never owned a Tesla in my life.

Avp is literally the new iPhone. People hated the iPhone not because they used it but because apple literally made it exclusive and at the time it was more than most people could afford. Since 2008-2013 or so, iPhones were considered luxury items.

The avp is wait for it….a luxury item and outside of the ppl who have actually used one and thus have valid criticism, the main issue for ppl is its price.

Then they compare it to the meta 3 based on price and features (points to android and iPhone)

It’s literally history repeating itself again.
Im not sure it is literally the new iPhone…

In any event, I do see some differences with past products. For me personally, I got the original iPhone on launch day, same with the first iPad, Apple Watch SS, and AirPods. I’ve also been using Apple products since the IIe was released, which was my first computer. I’m interested in VR and AR, and was waiting for the Vision Pro to be released here. I had tried the Quest 3 before, and tried the Vision Pro as soon as they appeared in stores for trials. It was impressive and clearly better than the quest, but where I am it is almost 10x the price. Although I can very easily afford it, it just didn’t feel quite right this time. Maybe it’s me that’s changed as I’m an old man now. But for prior products, there was nothing else even in the same league or category for those first generation devices I mentioned. For the Vision Pro, it does have the quest 3 there and I would say completely in the same category and league. It is absolutely better and very impressively so, but it is not 10x better. So after trying the Vision Pro, I just picked up the quest 3 as a toy to play with until the technology progresses a bit further.

That’s my personal situation. But I can sort of understand how this is perhaps more comparable to the original HomePod (of which I have 6…) than the original iPhone.

I can’t wait for them to release a lower cost one so those who are perpetually hating because it’s out their price range can enjoy it

I don't hate the AVP, but it's definitely more money than i'd be willing to spend on a gadget to try out.

Here in Aus, it launched a couple weeks ago. And literally no one i know has bought one or at least has talked about it. It's been such little fanfare here that if you asked a random person; they'd probably still think it was an USA exclusive.

Or the UK - still waiting here for the new content.

Don’t be a hater lol. I enjoy my avp. Best purchase I’ve made this year so far

It's not so much the price, but for me not wanting to a day's work using this device. Apple has never excelled at gaming so the only thing remaining is passive entertainment, which AVP could actually make more immersive.

Is anyone else making media for this? Or just Apple? I'm not sure how a streaming platform can survive with only original content, ask Quibi how it went for them.

so the only thing remaining is passive entertainment,

Does much more than just passive entrainment. There are production apps (Moog, Lightroom, Excel, etc.), virtual display, educational apps, etc. See

Is anyone else making media for this?

Lots of media sources. Immersive Travel apps, educational apps, individual contributors such as Hugh Ho. Of course Disney+ 3D content. There will be more with time.
