If I had 5000€ lying around (that's what a full spec VP) cost in EU), I would travel to Africa and enjoy safari.
Then return home without 5000€, with mosquito bites and some photos and souvenirs. Then wait until you can save again for another trip.

With the AVP you can continue 'traveling' places every day.
Then you can save money to go on your next safari with a 3D, 180º or 360º camera to bring amazing new memories home that you can relive everyday on your AVP.

Missing Empathy

( I am totally immersed - can't wait for the new content )

People who buy the App are rich or stupid?

So you can choose either you have no clue or fall into the designation of being too rich and thus your money does not count?
I don't get these comments. I am neither rich nor am I clueless in any way - I am first and foremost a technology fan - always been and will be till my last breath. I am neither a hater of anything nor a fanboy nor am I a missing empathy for others that might enjoy something - a rare combination today?

People who like it and share that experience are 'flexing'?

So in case you like to share your joy on an Apple centric webpage ( which means you have some affiliation with the products ) you are 'flexing'?
I don't get these comments. This is macRumors and as such it's about upcoming gear and services that are not release or short before. Sharing one's opinion in a surprisingly not utterly negative or supposed funny way is wrong?

The Framing reaches a new level

I for one love the new AVP - it is the first idea from Apple in the past years where I am freaking out about.
Other products I freaked out about were the PowerMac 7500, G4 Cube, PowerBook Ti, iPhone, Apple TV, iMac PRO and now after a very long waiting period the AVP.
Completely vertical integration of technology and services.
Just an amazing product - I don't know what could be perceived as being wring with the offering as such. I don't understand the negative framing of the features. In case it does not meet your needs just goo on and be happy without trying it or considering it but the negativeness is really soon in this forum and elsewhere. But do we really need permanent framing and naysayers?

I definitely welcome the new immersive content and I cant wait to see it - based on the already released films this is a really nice addition to the multiple use cases the App is offering.

And before the comment is made - yes - it's also a content consumption device and not only a tool for getting work done - it can do many things - like the first personal computers did after the software companies discovered the benefits of exploiting the potential.

The AVP is by no means a cheap offering - yet it is the worst we'll ever see and all following will only be better as technology evolves. Can't remember when I was personally that thrilled and excited on a new product any company released.

( Well - the new LG Cinebeam Q being the smallest and most travel oriented 4 k projector caught a similar attention being unique in it's offering and I love new offerings that enhance my life ) 🙃

I spent last year > $ 8 k for a three week vacation in Canada's wilderness and it was not worth ⅓ of it - with all the wildfires and tons of tourists one of my worst vacations ever - I liked the east cost a few years earlier much more.

Hopefully no money ever is laying around - it's better invested in Apple shares these days 🤣

Beautiful 360 videos of amazing places

Available from 3rd parties in such apps as Explore POV.

First row concert experience,

AmazeVR Concerts: Immersive 3D, although not a concert as such. Looking forward to when they release The Weeknd concert. Proof of concept done with Alicia Keyes rehearsal. Wish there were more, but see limitations below.

Sports events

A killer app, but the the technology to do it (cameras, production equipment, distribution path) has to be developed. They have proved the concept with the existing 2023 MLS Cup Highlights (Apple TV). The new cameras -

1. Canon RF-S7.8mm F4 STM DUAL lens
2. Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive is the world’s first commercial camera system designed to capture Apple Immersive Video.

that are necessary to make it happen aren't here yet.

Specialized avp movies / tv series with big name directors -

Not cost effective for a product with such limited volumes. Maybe in the long term future when sales reach 100 million or more. For now we will have to be content with existing 3D movies and conversions.

As an AVP owner all I can say is it’s about time! All of this content should have been ready at launch if they wanted to move more units. Whoever made the call to put the device out there on sale before this was all ready made a huge mistake

Wasn't possible. See above. Would have been nice though.

As for the Immersive Video...the cameras to fully film this immersive content didn't really exist. Apple has had to work with camera manufacturers to even get the gear they needed to film the content.

As above - it is coming.

You couldn’t pay me to travel. If someone has the bandwidth to say, stream an overseas trip in high enough resolution, I can see the value of this.

I'm with you on that. The problem is that the vast majority of consumers could not care less about Macintosh. Their iPhones and iPads are sufficient for most uses. I don't want to give Apple ideas, but it feels like Mac, and especially Studio Macs, are going to a longer refresh cycle, the same way they have been doing for Pro models for the last 10 years.
I need to replace my 2015 27inch imac and I am waiting for mac studio to get updated ... or maybe imac pro?

The iPhone 1 wasn’t an iPhone level success.

The iPhone 1 was far more successful and almost universally lauded. The masses that couldn't afford it, still saw a real potential in it. It only took Apple an year to release an updated version that was infinitely more popular.

The iPhone solved a basic need for the masses to have a great handheld device with mobile internet access. The need was already there, Apple just found the best way to make it work.

Comparatively, Vision Pro doesn't solve any particular need. Apple can try all it wants, but no one cares about "spatial computing" besides fat nerds and technophiles glued to their desks. The masses absolutely don't care for it, and it's not even because of it's ridiculous pricing.

If you’ve waited 9 years, I’m not sure why you are concerned about Apple rushing out a new Mac Studio model. The current ones are great and should be crazy fast compared to what you are used to, or just keep waiting a little longer (compared to how long you’ve waited already.)

I doubt the Apple hardware staff are somehow tied up working on media production.

Sorry, but why are the nerds fat in your scenario? Skinny nerds are fully capable of liking VR, too.

It’s so thoughtful how those who have no interest at all to purchase Vision Pro take time out of their busy schedule to inform everyone on a Vision Pro thread “how they have no interest whatsoever in purchasing this failed product and that they are bored with it etc.” Funny..when something doesn’t interest me I’m not hanging around wasting more time on this “failed” product. I’m gone!
Yeah, I don’t get this fanaticism of hatred. It seems like the internet is just getting worse, and now I just picture users of the Ford forums complaining that the Mach-E isn’t a real Ford (that actually probably happens, so I should go with Corvette owners complaining that Chevy is wasting resources working on the Malibu). I can see complaining about the model you are interested in because it matters to you, but who cares about the model someone else is interested in? And why begrudge them that interest? What level of narcissism is required for that, and has the ability to easily express one’s opinion on the internet created that, or simply exposed how many people have it?

I don’t have an AVP, but I don’t see the issue with Apple trying something new. If they only had resources to work on one project, then I could see the complaining, but the much bigger risk in the long run is that they just stop trying anything new and we end up with the beige mid 1990s again.

agreed in principle but ...

( I can't go the moon )
Then return home without 5000€, with mosquito bites and some photos and souvenirs. Then wait until you can save again for another trip.

That is what's called reality - and you need that as often as possible to align your fantasy and media with the real thing. There is in my observation no replacement for the real thing - however the right media can aid your imagination and bring joy and new experiences that can be quite close - I don't understand why it needs to be either or - I would say it's both and the AVP can do a lot I would never do - in these circumstances it a no go for me to do the real thing due to health, risk and/or finances - it's impossible for me to go to the moon e.g.

With the AVP you can continue 'traveling' places every day.

yes - in case the is enough content - slowly growing and hopefully getting to a level where it is a pain to select where to go today - not there yet but promising!

Then you can save money to go on your next safari with a 3D, 180º or 360º camera to bring amazing new memories home that you can relive everyday on your AVP.
... and enhance it with the real thing - IMHO there is no substitute for the real thing and I had done nice trips even years since I am earning money - in fact it would still be my priority in case I could not afford the AVP in parallel - but trips are not that pricy - flights are really cheap these days and accommodation can be basic in case money is an object.
The AVP is a must have for me but so is traveling - we should not undervalue the real experiences.

Just lol at people who were proclaiming this would be an iPhone level success
It's never going to be an iPhone level success, not even an iPad.

The iPhone was launched at $599 in 2007 that is around $920 USD in today's money; so the iPhone hasn't reduced in price.

This price point is too high. With the naming "Pro", it opens the door for an "air" version; that could be cheaper, with less features.

I went to the demo last week and the experience is amazing! I loved it!
But I can't justify £3,499 plus extra costs.

I went from using the thing every day, to saying to myself, "I don't feel like putting that big ass thing on my head." Now I have a reason to use it!!!

There is a lot of "hate" towards the VP on these forums and I thought I would comment for the first time in years! Sorry it is a long post.

I watched the VP keynote and thought that looks interesting. It was released in the USA but I couldn't buy one in the UK. So I read VP comments on Macrumours and watched Youtube videos of reviewers wearing the device. However, I felt the VP is a very personal device and watching someone wear it is not the same as wearing it first hand.

Over the months, I read lots of negative forum comments on Macrumours VP articles. I started forming a negative opinion about the VP despite never having seen it myself. But, in theory, the negative comments on Macrumours must be from people who had bought a VP so their negativity was a warning sign.

Eventually the VPs went on sale in the UK and I had promised my son he could have one if he did well in his exams. He did very well so I had to stand over the deal. But I felt this was going to be a bad purchase as clearly so many postings on Macrumours over months clearly hated the VP - it was an expensive failed product, etc. A yawn to some.

However, I stood by the deal and I bought my son a VP. He loved it! What's more I love it too and I am going to buy my own VP.

The moral of the story is the negative forum comments on Macrumours led me to believe the VP was a failed product despite having never seen it myself before it became available in the UK. I now wonder if many of the negative commentators have actually got a VP themselves or even had a demo in an Apple Store. Are they just negatively commenting on a product they have no experience of? Being negative purely because they can be negative!

I own an android phone and tablet for development purposes. I don't like them and I feel I can be negative about Android because I own them. I have never owned a Microsoft Surface device so I don't feel I can comment positively or negatively either way.

If you are going to be positive or negative about a product, perhaps it would be worthwhile owning or having experience of the product. After all, we don't go onto Amazon and leave reviews on products that we never bought.

Positive and negative comments are equally important - provided you have experience of the product you are commenting on. I get the feeling that many negative comments on here are from people who don't have a VP and have never seen it.

Is it perfect? No of course not. When the iPhone 1 arrived there were far less apps and the hardware improved with each generation. The VP will be the same. I like it, my son likes it and others will dislike it. But at least they used it.

I am not defending Apple or the VP. We like it. I am just suggesting that positive and negative comments should be by users who have actually used the product.

Comments based on personal experience have value. Comments based on no experience have no value and raise questions about the poster's motivation.

Sorry, first posting in years and it is a long one!

Don’t be a hater lol. I enjoy my avp. Best purchase I’ve made this year so far

I can’t wait for them to release a lower cost one so those who are perpetually hating because it’s out their price range can enjoy it
People for who it is actually “in their price range” don’t need to make posts about it being in their price range.
