I may be in the minority, but I'm not a huge fan of the dark mode. I see it all over the place, so its certainly a popular theme

I have mixed feeling about dark mode.
Love it on my Watch thanks to OLED, would like to have it on a future version of iOS when the majority of devices will feature an OLED display but I'm not sure about the Mac.

I have a dark theme on Visual studio Code, but when I switch to Xcode I don't mind having a white background, and I keep the terminal white.
Mail is white and I don't imagine it with a dark theme. As for Safari it depends on the site you're visiting. The vast majority has a light theme, and every time I visit a site with a dark theme I feel it tiresome to my eyes.

However I'm all for having the possibility to chose, so even if I'm probably keeping a white theme I hope they'll introduce dark mode for macOS this year.

Are we seriously gushing over a dark mode for a dev tool? Yes it's an improvement, but hardly the top feature for a new version.

I may switch my text editor back over to dark mode and see if I do like it. Maybe I need to give it more time.

Some of us who spend a considerable amount of time working in front of a computer screen are excited about dark more.

What's so exciting about it is the fact that considering how many years it has taken Apple to implement it into macOS, it has to be something out of this world, and not just a matter of inverting colors. (Otherwise it may turn out to be a huge disappointment).
No question, and as I stated in my post, I may be in the minority and I also posted is quite popular. That being said, I posted my personal preference

At 58, I completely understand. I lost any fascination with dark mode 5 or 6 years ago.

I find dark mode good for reading in bed so I don’t wake my partner. Always wished Kindle had a dark mode as even low light needs to be bright enough to get contrast.

Soon as we get Dark Mode I suppose someone will start whining “we want a Mid Grey Mode”.

You can never please everyone. ;)

Wait...so it just gets darker? We were able to do that in the 90's with Kaleidoscope in OS 8-9. How is this some kind of amazing improvement?

Just grab the app and drag it to where you want it? I know it’s not as easy as an instantaneous ‘organise everything alphabetically’ button, but it’s doable...

I don't want to have to try to figure out alphabetic order by drag and drop. Especially when its one line of code to put the icons in alpha order. I refuse to be happy about stupid Apple code.

It's command + space, type app name, then enter to do the same thing with Spotlight. But I guess you can remap a keyboard shortcut to Launchpad.

The F4 key is already a shortcut to Launchpad.

I am guessing no hardware is being announced today because if it were, the store would be down by now.

I was checking the AS and it is still available.
I guess we won't see any big hardware announcement, maybe only a new CPU on the MBP

In all the years ive been reading MacRumors, this has to be the first leak they have posted. What was the name of the other site before this? Think... the one that got shutdown by apple... well grats on popping your cherry... I'm going to reactivate my dev account just to get that puppy as soon as its released.

Kindle Oasis latest version does have a dark mode, basically the background is all dark and fonts are light.

Does anyone know how I can actually enable dark mode in the Xcode 10 beta?

I've looked but can't find it anywhere. I'm guessing it's not available in this beta? Or it's only available if you are running the 10.14 beta?

Edit: Duh, I should have watched the keynote before asking this question, it's a system-wide feature for macOS Mojave.

Last year's processors at this year's prices. These days it's what Apple does better than anyone else.

Prices are unchanged just as I expected.
By that I didn’t mean a price cut due to the hardware being outdated, you have to be a 4 year old trashcan shaped computer to get that treatment. I meant price adjustments to the lineup (if it happened at WWDC, it would just be the models shifting down in price, however following the 2018 12” MacBook introduction rather than a random price adjustment). Since we’ll be waiting for another few months before the new MacBooks (and iMacs), it makes more sense for it to happen following the introduction.

The power of the backlight is the same, yes. But not how much light makes it past the LCD panel.

Indeed, but black text on white is better for your eyes over the long term than reading on darkened interfaces. Hence, Windows probably made the better decision here by using dark mode on everything except the file manager. I have used dark backgrounds in Finder windows in the past. Meh, didn't like reading filenames that way.

I use dark mode on Windows and most of my pro apps have been dark for a long time now. It does make colors pop more because dark interfaces make colors stand out better (less white penetrating the eyes). But for text document work it isn't recommended.
