I'm not a fan of dead animal skins around my electronics but I wasn't a fan of the silicone case. I ended up buying a Modal case at Best Buy. it has a silicone inner case with a harder outer case. I really like it, it is grippy and colorful. Best Buy had a ton of cases, I'd check your third party options before settling for an Apple case.

I got the blue Silicone Apple case for "Thor" aka my iPhone 6 Plus. I absolutely love it. Super smooth on the outside yet offers me the perfect amount of grip and it conforms to the phone like a glove. The inside of the case is lined with a felt material that is hardened and doesn't allow it to flex like your typical silicone cases. I liked this much better then the leather one i tested them at the Apple store.

Grabbed a midnight blue leather case, it feels amazing and is super light with a thin profile. I found the demo leather case to be grippier over the silicon version.

Black leather here and I love it! I've never had a leather case on a phone so this was a pleasant surprise. Can't imagine the silicone being any thinner or stiffer than this one and it's lined with felt. Goes in and out of my pocket real easy and doesn't attract any lint. I didn't like the $50 price tag but I feel I'll get my money's worth.

Leather.i love the feeling in my hand. It's also very tightly covering my iPhone unlike some cheap cases from ebay. I even like the smell of it. :) Well worth the price.

Is there any difference in thickness and overall bulk between the two?

Theres only so thin you can make leather once you start lining it and folding edges etc but silicone can be moulded any way you want so I was wondering if the silicone was thinner or if they made them pretty much the same?

Every 0.1mm counts when it comes to fitting a 6+ in my pocket!

I got the Black Silicone and Black Leather. Also have AppleCare+ as well since I intend to keep this phone 2 years.

I'm currently rocking the silicone for a few reasons:

1. It's more durable and better at protecting your phone.

2. Thermal properties are better when it comes to dealing with heat.

3. It's actually more dark grey than Black so it compliments the phone well.

My black leather case is still brand new in box and I'll probably start using it in a few weeks or so.

Another vote for the leather here. Got the olive brown leather case on my 128GB gold 6. Looks classy, feels great. I expect it to age as per the official tan leather case my wife has on her 5a ie classy weathered leather look.

Macaw does give a slight lip above the phone; good for keeping the screen clear of a surface the phone has been set face down on. Downside is that you get a slight graE when using edge of screen swiping gestures.

Otherwise feels great in the hand, not slippy. Also like open bottom here as I can use the chunky 3.5mm jack on my Bose QC20i earphones. The official 5/5scases only allowed jacks as big as the official Appke EarPods; any bigger and you risked splitting the case above the hole for the jack.

The leather case. It looks classy and has a more price-appropriate feel. Silicon cases should never be as expensive as Apple charges for them, and they make the phones look more cartoonish ala the iPhone 5c.

Agreed to some extent. Overpriced? Yes. This is Apple we are talking about though and they are the king of overprice.

Silicone cases are more durable, easier to clean and retain their color well. I think these cases were made because people that bought leather cases were upset with the color fade/changes in a short amount of time.

Apple leather or silicon case?

I went for the silicone one — not a fan of the stained leather look. Both of them provide excellent grip.

You might want to consider the silicone one if you remove your phone from the case often (e.g. you put the phone in an armband when you go to the gym)

I got the midnight blue leather case. The fit and finish is superb. This might be the best case I've ever on a phone. I wish I had put one on my 5.

I've never been big on cases but they are a necessary evil if you want to keep your device in top shape. I also believe that the camera lens sticking out is reason to put a case on the new iPhones.

I would recommend the leather case. However, I didn't even look at the silicon case.

To those talking about animal skin - are you 100% certain that the case is genuine leather and not a leatherette? I don't know but I wouldn't be surprised if it were a synthetic leather.

I love it. It's probably the best feeling case I've ever used for any of my iPhones. I cannot comment on the leather case because I've never felt one. However, many people are switching from Leather to Silicone because the leather feels cheap and Apple really hit it out of the park with the Silicone case this year.

Black leather case has a good feel to it. It's a snug fit and every so slightly curved over the top of the sides
Black or midnightt blue are the dark colors that won't show dirt

Have the leather one for the 6. Had many cases over the years but this is by far the best fit and finish, money well spent!

And just to clarify: the front covers are about 1/2mm higher than the screen, so if you put (or drop) it on a flat surface, the screen won't scratch (tough the impact energy might break it still).

Not to get too off topic but what is the best way/technique to put on and take off the leather case? It was kinda tough to put on so I'm wondering if there's a better way than just jamming it in?

Got the black leather case for my space grey iPhone, I love how it looks and how it feels

I think they put a cutout for the entire bottom of the case this time because of the rounded edges of the new phones. The instructions tell you to slide the phone in top first. Without the open bottom to the case, it would be extremely difficult to get the phone in, and would probably stretch the leather cases irreversibly.

Leather, (PRODUCT) RED case. Sprayed a double shot of Scotchguard on it to protect it. Will probably need to recoat every few weeks or so.

Didn't put anything on my 5S leather case and it was pretty manky after a year of use but still looked good. Hoping the Scotchguard will stop the staining etc from building up too quickly.
