I’m getting a new iPhone 12 Pro to replace my aging XS and I ordered Apple‘s black leather MagSafe Case and matching wallet to go with it. My current bifold wallet carries minimal stuff right now (debit card, credit card, drivers license and a few bucks in cash) so I think the MagSafe wallet wallet may work for me when I just want to carry a credit card, drivers license, and a bit of cash.

After getting rid of my wallet, the next step for me is to get rid of my car key transponder. I know Apple allows a car key to be added to the wallet app for some cars, but Lincoln has a “Phone as Key” feature in their app as well. I’ll be getting a new car this spring and am keen to use this feature.
I managed to get my DL, two cards and a $50 bill in mine just fine, so you shouldn't have any trouble getting.

If only I didn’t have so many cards for my CC rewards strategy. I’d love to get on board with this wallet.

Managed to get 4 cards in by modifying my work badge with removing all the plastic, laminating it twice, and then cutting a hole that In it that I can use to push the card out of the tight wallet with a finger. (Luckily it’s just a coil with a tiny rfid chip.) Then the other 3 come out smooth.

I'm debating if I should get this or not. In college, before there were wallet attachments for phones, I kept my Student ID inside a flexible phone case because you needed to swipe that card to enter any building and staircases, so I needed it a lot, and didn't carry a wallet around campus.

Since college, I've just used a wallet with my cards, ID, work badge and bus pass inside a purse. I now have a car key, apartment keys to keep track of as well and rarely have pockets that can comfortably accomodate that stuff. On one hand, I could see the wallet attachment working well for a bus pass I need to quickly pull out often or my work badge. But on the otherhand, if I'd need a purse anyways, what's the point of spending $60?

Never understood why on women clothes there are fake pockets. If it made fashion sense to have it look like a pocket, then why not actually make it a real pocket? Anyway, getting the MagSafe Wallet could make sense for you so that you can spread out your IDs and money. If you had you purse stolen/lost, you'd still have an ID and credit card in the MagSafe Wallet. This assumes you have at least a small pocket that can hold the MagSafe Wallet. I don't always have the Wallet attached to my phone, and I think that's the idea Apple had in mind with Wallet. Also, it sounds like the Sleeve could make sense for you for times when you only need an ID and your phone. I think the Sleeve could hold a thin ID and 1 credit card.

For your use case, it doesn't appear that the wallet is the ideal solution. Keep in mind, once you pull the wallet off the phone, you've suddenly got something in each hand (phone in one hand, wallet in the other). You now have to put the phone down or in a pocket, use two hands to get your work badge or bus pass to slide out of the wallet, swipe the card, then put the whole shebang back together -- all a bit awkward. With a purse, at least you can hang it on your shoulder and you can use two hands to do your business with keys, cards or whatever, then quickly put your stuff back into the purse.

My point is that in my opinion the wallet is not very convenient for cards you need to access quickly or regularly. The way I use mine is to simply carry a driver's license, a backup credit card, and a bit of cash, with the intent of NOT having to access those things frequently. Seems like the wallet use case depends a lot on how much stuff you need to carry and how often you need to access it.

You'd break the magnetism while it's in your pocket or purse to avoid the two-handed awkwardness. If it's in your pocket then it's probably best to only have the wallet and phone in your pocket. After taking off wallet and using it, it's easy to re-attach the wallet to the phone while it's in your pocket as nothing else is in there. To use the phone you would take the whole thing out. And when you're done you put your hand over the wallet while putting in back in your pocket so that the wallet doesn't get knocked off.

I'm rocking my green one!, I know green doesn't exist but I wanted to add a splash of color. Have a Tan and a Blue one but currently using the green. If i buy a non Aliexpress one i would give my bucks to California Poppy.

One side of my wallet has started peeling off, it became so soft that my finger would cause the side to start peeling, very strange... never exposed it to water or dropped it. The material under the rubber stuff is kind of sticky too.. using it since December 26th.

Any other leather magsafe wallets out there?

That’s a painted edge. That was always going to be the weak point of the wallet, if there was one.

....whilst these wallets do look nice and are very minimal, its a big shame that they can only accommodate a maximum of 3 cards.

I have just accumulated a fourth card so its now going to be bye bye Apple Wallet.......
