Me neither. I added the card to Apple Wallet, but its odd that there weren't any emails from the bank, not even a Welcome to Apple card email. I just got the Apple pre pre-order confirmation, and that's it.
Sorry should have clarified I was doing preapproval for the iPhone upgrade program. Either way it’s weird we didn’t get emailed.

Indeed it is. It's about reducing order cancellations by diluting the uncomfortable feeling of "buyer's remorse" associated with a big-ticket purchase.

I mean, how can anyone feel any remorse, whatsoever, from a non-committal pre-pre-order? It's like a nothing commitment.

But in the meantime, you're being won-over by the thought of having a "privileged" place in a queue that cost you nothing (nothing right now, of course).

Bottom line is it gives you time to gradually get comfortable with blowing $1K+ on a phone.

Very clever. Artful even.
I love your explanation. I just don’t love the clever tricks themselves.

Or maybe they just don't want to overwhelm their systems, like in the old days, and want to finish as much of the heavy loading ahead of time as possible. Not everything is a conspiracy.
I never said anything was a conspiracy. Please don’t throw darts.

I guess if I’m switching carriers with this mew phone I can’t do it through the app. When I choose t mobile it says it doesn’t have my account info. I can’t create an account with a carrier I don’t use yet lol

I do the Upgrade Program and pay the monthly with my Apple Card.

I am curious why you stated it as one or the other…
That’s what I used to do as well. iUP requires a consumer cellular account and a hard credit check (if being done for the first time) so I would rather just manage the payments with Apple Card.

It’s just a hassle to have to use my dad’s consumer account/number and then switch SIM cards. Also, I don’t really like the Citizens Bank website UI lol.

I sell my phones privately too.

Did you switch from IUP so you could use the Apple Card? Or just to move away from IUP in general? Wasn't sure from your post. I'm still in the IUP and my monthly payments are on my Apple Card. I just went through the IUP readiness smoothly once again (carrier AT&T).
Moved away from iUP in general. Since I don’t have a consumer account, it’s a hassle to upgrade. I also don’t really like the Citizens Bank site (even tho you never really have to log in) and would rather just manage the payments thru Apple Card.

It’s a good program though.

❓❓ Do we have to go to "apple.com" on Friday? :apple:

I just pre-pre-ordered and it says to go there at 5 AM PDT on 17 Sept. In the past, I just used the Apple Store app on my iPhone to pre-order (not via a browser).

The pre-order is viewable on the Apple app too, so I think you can do it ether way. In the past, getting to the store via the Apple app was more reliable in the early morning "rush" than the web page.

anyone else get this message when setting up the pre-pre order? - "you can upgrade to the tastes iPhone by paying off the remaining balance of your first 12 monthly payments..." my payments are on the 22nd of each month - so my 12th payment will be made next week - but we have to pre order this week... how is apple going to handle this?

My 12th payment is on the 18th. You will get charged the last payment and the first payment of the new phone (plus the tax) when you order.

You were all just talking sbout how Apple is just trying to generate hype by us being in a "priviledged queue."
Well, I apologize if it appeared that I was making a value judgment about people buying new phones. I wasn’t. My intent was simply to offer kudos to the quoted member for his insightful comments which I liked.

That said, if I had intended some snide remark, I don’t see why anyone should waste their energy replying to me. I see plenty of things I disagree with on the internet, but I ignore most of it, and I try to be kind in my dealings with strangers like yourself. I don’t always succeed, but that’s the goal.

:)

UPS did not ask for a signature for my phone last year, just dropped it on my porch and rang the doorbell. That might have been a side effect of COVID delivery processes though, and I do recall seeing something about shipping companies starting to enforce signatures again soon if not already.

I feel store pickup is the most reliable approach if there is one nearby. Last year the stores were closed so we didn't have a choice. If the UPS drivers aren't doing the signature thing yet then it could wind up anywhere.
Pre-COVID, I didn't work and live in the same county. The county I worked in had a higher sales tax than the county I lived in. Therefore, I would get my new phones delivered to my house. Fedex used to leave them at my door while I was at work and I lived in an apartment complex.

If it was UPS making the delivery, I would always ask UPS to hold the package at the local UPS warehouse, which, conveniently was about 5 minutes from my apartment at the time. The Fedex warehouse was too far so I never asked that of Fedex.

In addition to a store pickup, asking the shipping company to hold the package for pickup is an option, if that option is convenient for you.

Same problem here. Tried doing it again but I'm not getting past the accessories page, which keeps telling me they have adjusted my bag to match availability.

Contacted Apple about the preorder prep issues. This is what they say:

Agent's Message: I totally understand you , as i can see indeed the Ready to Pre order process that we have online to save a bag and apply it on Friday at 13:00 is not available at the moment due to the massive bags that have been applied so far. The Ready to pre order process is just a saved bag that you fill in your details and at 13:00 on Friday, once you will join you can complete the checkout. In that case the best option for you is to check the website tomorrow in order to pre order directly or contact us back tomorrow , in order to assist you once the pre order will start.
