As a loyal Apple fan, I would be very excited to purchase these. However, I do not have $3000 and can't charge $3000 to any of my credit cards. So, I am out of luck. I will have to marvel and lust from afar. Unless the device has cellular capabilities similar to the Apple Watch and Verizon offers a payment plan.

The glasses will replace this thing for the consumer market, this will be dead within 3 years.
Actually a fair point as to why there might be two OS’s, the consumer version will likely become a separate product when Metalens/nanolens technology comes in 2026/2027.

IF you think about it, a ”PRO" XR device will likely want keep a bigger size to be able to capture 3D and 3D filming. You do not want light bleeding in, you will want a device that is enclosing and more like what this version will look like.

It does make sense in that respect to have a XrProOS since the device will be an actual pro device for authoring content for VR, and as such will want to be a much more hefty device in terms of power and lenses. Like a wearable Macbook Pro.

The consumer version will want to look exactly or close to exatly like regular sunglasses or glasses. And as such will be AR mostly and would benefit a lighter OS, like iOS vs MacOS.

Now, is Apple becoming too splintered in their OS strategy… I would say yes. They need to come up with a more elegant system that scales from watch to MacPro, this is starting to look like the Sony that Steve Jobs talked about, too many different products and OS variations.
