Apple Likely Planning October 24 Launch Date for New iPads

iPad air at home. iPhone plus on the go.

Home = iPad air

not at home = iphone plus

That's the scenario. Why would I want to couch surf and read on a 5.5 inch screen, when I can use the much much bigger iPad screen instead. And now with calling enabled on iPads (when on same wifi network as your iphone), I can make and receive calls on the couch if my iPhone is not near me. So yes, there is a case for both devices still.

Well, there's always the $500 you would save and invest in your favorite stock.

Widescreen
Front facing stereo speakers
LARGER
better rear camera with flash

None of which will happen

Fundamentally it's not changed from the day the 1st iPad was launched.
They had an idea, and they've not had any more since.

Guess Apple just sit there all smug thinking they got it perfect on day one, so no need to change it ever :(

And that's without mentioning again they just took the iPhone user interface and made it BIGGER, and did almost nothing else. 3.5" screen to 10" screen with almost no change, and STILL to this day it's no better.

Basically a 10" mobile phone.

Apple are you listening. It's could be so much more if only you gave a crap about it!

Lol, I've seen how you love to rail & rant... but this is bringing sensationalism to a WHOLE new level!!!
Ok, discounting that over the years (including Air 2 part leaks) we've got much, much faster processors, eight times the ram, two cameras, Touch ID, beamforming dual mics, 4G in many bands, mimo Wi-Fi, AC Wi-Fi, four times the resolution, & a 128gb option... NONE of which were present in the 1st gen; your list STILL is weak, and a strong & insulting comment like "if Apple only gave a crap about iPad" is beyond silly.
There's only four items on your list.
Hmmmm..... So; according to you- they haven't changed a single thing on the iPad, yet your wishlist is a mere four items long?? Lol, ok... so even if you weren't full of it, it seems like they must've made a solid product!
Their biggest detractor & he can only come up with four things!! =)
1) larger- well, obviously they shouldn't have had this on the first iteration, back before the high resolution necessary was feasible... now that it is, it sounds like they're going to do it. You don't have a point here.
2) front facing speakers- well, I agree that louder/better sound would be awesome, however... there's three orientations iPads are used in- so, placement could prove tricky. Also, I've heard many Android tablets. They're marginally better at most. They're not like going to the symphony. Looks like NOBODY has this one solved yet. (Ooooh, I know a company that just acquired a music/speakers/headphones company though... maybe now they will be better poised to lead the industry in this problem area!)
3) widescreen- no. Just no. We do NOT want this. Only you want this. Yuck. Bigger..? Yes, please! But NO 16:9. Portrait mode has it's place... and at 4:3 a big iPad would read like a full size magazine.
4) better camera with flash- well, despite your claim that they haven't changed... actually in the world the rest of us live in, iPad went from no camera, to a .7mp shooter, to a nice 5mp w/ AF, face detection, & other goodies... and is rumored to now go up to an 8mp. I don't think many would have guessed a device this size would be used as much for camera as it is... they're really taking good care of those that do, now that they're aware though.

I guess you have a solid point about the lack of flash.
Seems like a minor quibble though...

This sums my usage up exactly.

I imagine a lot of people can only afford one device and then maybe the iPhone wins out (especially the Plus if you only have 1 device).

But what you describe is pretty much how I use my devices. It is also why I would've preferred a as lightly smaller iPhone, 3.5" to 4.3" would've been nicer for me (the larger screen brings very little advantage to my daily use on the go). With the curved edges and slim profile 4.7" isn't too bad but I can't use it one handed completely fluidly and the smaller versions were more pocket-able too.

Can't grumble too much though as the 6 is a great phone. Can only hope they follow their laptop history and go back to smaller sizes eventually (like the did when they went down to 11" with the Air).

Was I the source for this story? Because even I could tell you that Apple is aiming for "Friday of the week after" retail release of the initial roll-out. You guys do come up with "university of bleedin' obvious" stories sometimes
