If apple offered 32GB, for most consumers it would make less sense to pay 100 more for 64GB since 32GB on my 5s is still more than enough since I use my MBP most of the time. I do think its a bit of a c**ty move on their behalf, I think the 2GB is a bare minimum nowadays...shoulda been 3GB by this stage or will that be 2017 in apple calendar?

This. You get it. There won't be a convergence of OS X and iOS into one OS. They will continue to share features and have similar look and feel but will remain two independent systems designed for different types of computers (touch versus non touch). iCloud makes switching between these two systems seamless, it will continue to get better at this. Apple has pretty clearly stated they aren't interested in morphing their two operating systems into one. The steps taken in ios8/Yosemite make it pretty clear that their goal is to streamline the user experience by making their different systems work seamlessly together so the user gets the best possible experience on whatever device they are using. Microsoft learned the hard way people do not want the same OS on all devices.

I can see OSX becoming touch-friendly, but there will (for the near future, at least) be two separate OSes for iDevices and Macs. Though I do think we will reach a point where there ceases to be a distinction between a computer and a mobile device and OSes will just be different experiences based on screen size, display, and peripherals connected.

What about all of those people that have to wait for their iPhones to arrive. Maybe there should be a few extra shipment of those. Apple is doing some amazing things right now.

Really? There are people who are still interested in ipad?

After iphone 6 plus, no thanks. These things are just too big and too clunky.

Only thing that would slightly interest me would be the bigger version but they are not ready for that.(like surface style?)

More importantly, I hope ipod touch 6 plus comes out(but no hope at all).

And where is this fantastical new macbook air? So basically, this thursday is going to be big snooze fest.. only thing it might be interesting would be apple pay announcement along w/ apple watch progress?

I bought the iPhone 6 because it is a better fit for me for on the go use. I have an iPad Air (soon to be a new Retina iPad Mini) for when I want a larger iOS device - airplanes, my couch, the gym, weekend trips for use in the hotel, etc. Then I have my MacBook Air for when I need a physical keyboard and OSX.

However, I'm finding myself needing my MBA less and less (we use Windows machines at work). I wouldn't be surprised if this is the last personal computer I ever need, and just use a phone/tablet combo away from my work computer.

For some people, I guess. Just definitely not for me. I'd rather hold my phone than a big iPad. Different people like different things though. I'd like to get excited about iPads, there's just never been anything exciting about them to me. I bought an original for my family. They never used it. I never used it. Had a great deal on a newer model iPad, so I bought it. Never even touched it more than 3-4 times in months. Sold it as well.

On a plane, watching a movie on an iPad is way better than on an iPhone 6 plus.

For home use, why not. The screen is WAAAAAAAAY bigger than the biggest iPhone. Why would you want a little screen at home? And its more portable to carry from room to room at home than a mac book or laptop.

I hope we won't have to wait until the Wednesday October 22 1pm thing for the OS X Yosemite to be released to us; as would be the case with the post-event iOS launches.

Just traded in my iPad 2 at Best Buy. Sad to see it go, but I'm ready for an upgrade!

You won't regret it. My 4th generation feels old.

iPad Air plus 64gb. I'm in!

I agree...Let's hope that this releases. I believe it will.

Think about it...Tim Cook at the beginning of the year said that they will venture in new product categories. iPhone 5.5", Apple Watch, Apple Pay and now larger iPad. Makes sense.

I expect a 7.9", 9.7", and 12.9" to expand their lineup.

Well I have a PC, and iPad Air and and iPhone Plus.

Use case: 1. working from home, in home office, on the PC

2. most nights (after work) watching TV and surfing or reading via Kindle App = using iPad Air.

3. Anytime outside the house, like at work or wherever I'm not at home, using iPhone Plus.

not disagreeing with you, you have a 100% valid use case. But faced with constrained resources in the example I gave, the average user is having a hard time justifying the iPad purchase.

They wouldn't announce a product on one day and release it the next day.

Apple has been doing this the last couple of years with their MacBook Air upgrades. They've been available in Apple stores within 48 hours of announcement.

Still, this hasn't happened with their iPads yet. Gotta round up all those pre-orders so they have a huge number to report in their press release. :)

The iPad was definitely incredible and did in fact change the game several years ago. It has since improved every year. There's a lot of people on here that complain that the iPad is no longer being innovated. How could it be that much different? Do you really need a new exterior every year? That's not really innovation, anyway.

I don't see how at this point in history we should expect anything but spec bumps. Multitasking would be a nice addition to the iPad so we can do two things at once, like watching a youtube video and checking a calendar app or browsing the web. I'm sure Hologram iPads will be a thing eventually, but seriously, what kind of features are you guys looking for? For all the complaining, there's not a lot of suggestions.

The iPad is kinda a bust. For me anyway. Especially now with bigger iPhones. They've looked basically the same all along, they basically offer the same function as my iPhone. I just don't see any reason to want/need one.. and I love looking for an excuse to buy Apple stuff. lol.

I agree with this. Though I think an iPad could replace a laptop for me, though I know there will be times when I want to use Maya, Flash or FCP X. The iPads work so well I wish I had a reason to buy one, but I just can't justify it.

I agree. I think the bigger challenge is there is a longer lifespan for most folks and not a compelling need to upgrade. Unlike the iPhone which is usually more heavily used and seems to always be a bit slower and laggier after a couple of years, most people are happy with their iPad for 3-4 years.

And it seems like the tablet market has gotten saturated. If there aren't a ton of new customers, it's trying to get the new customers to upgrade. Unless you were someone who needed the latest the greatest or still had an Ipad 2 or 3 - I can't see a lot of excitement about this....

Totally agree. I have an iPad Air for my wife and a retina Mini for myself, and for the first time since the iPad came out, I really can't see a reason to upgrade. They're gunna have to do a REALLY good job of convincing me during the keynote, but if the Apple Watch presentation is any indication...

iPads HAVE to differ significantly from the iPhone in hardware specs more than ever before, now that the iPhone screens are bigger.

No. No. No.

Touch, iPhone and iPads are the same devices. Same hardware, same iOS. Touch has no phone and is cheaper, iPad has no phone and is much bigger, all different reasons to use.

The iPad Mini is more than twice the real estate of the 6 Plus.

We now have a phone that is better to use, and one that is bigger, great. There will be a few that forego a Mini for a 6 Plus, but that scenario turns the 6 Plus into a mini iPad Mini, not a great experience at all. But doable. Best to have the ideal phone size, and choose the ideal iPad size for you. For me an iPad Mini is a bit small for a nice iPad experience, the 6 Plus is about 45% the screen area of a Mini. Apple have chosen sizes that will please but will not cannibalise. Only a few will choose a phone that is too big and an iPad that is too small, aka 6 Plus.

Man you must have small hands...I have average hands for a guy and the iPhone 6 Plus I have feels average sized.

The iPad Plus or iPhone Plus aren't for everyone, thus Apple is creating options for certain users.

lol.. dude, I was talking about ipad... I love the 6 plus.. therefore asking for ipod touch 6 plus..

No monthly fee and no contracts. its also abetter value.

My credit card is locked & loaded for the new iPad mini

Yes but haven't the Air updates been small? A minor spec bump.

It's an event where we'll see brand new products, we are talking about brand new iPad's here, and possibly iMac's.

Widescreen
Front facing stereo speakers
LARGER
better rear camera with flash

None of which will happen

Fundamentally it's not changed from the day the 1st iPad was launched.
They had an idea, and they've not had any more since.

Guess Apple just sit there all smug thinking they got it perfect on day one, so no need to change it ever :(

And that's without mentioning again they just took the iPhone user interface and made it BIGGER, and did almost nothing else. 3.5" screen to 10" screen with almost no change, and STILL to this day it's no better.

Basically a 10" mobile phone.

Apple are you listening. It's could be so much more if only you gave a crap about it!
