These kind of arguments are quite ridiculous. You own the hardware. You can throw it in the bottom of the Ocean and just leave. You can jailbreak, but Apple is not required to help you do so.

I own my PS4 and Xbox One as well. Should we force Microsoft and Sony to allow alternative app stores there too?
Apple's argument is ridiculous they are not allowing multiple payment options--that's the problem. Apple is creating a monopoly on Payment Processors within Apps and dictating what you can and can't have. App Developers would be more than happy to implement several payment processors.

Until they find out that the 2.5% cut the payment processor takes is just the tip of the ice berg and now they have multiple authorities chapping on the door asking for sales tax and VAT payments. Oh and with their free app now not earring Apple a penny, Apple will just change their business model to charge developers for licensing servers, upgrade servers, notification servers, map services, bandwidth, and hosting.
 
I disagree, it's more about having multiple payment options--PayPal, Square, etc. It's not removing Apple Pay from their apps completely. Apps like Spotify have their own licensing system that's cross-platform and cheaper which relies on payment processors like Stripe which take only around 3%. Apple, Google, Microsoft, etc meanwhile take a 30% cut on Payments.
I'm puzzled. Do you think the 15/30% cut is only for payment processing? Or is it for the infrastructure, tools, support and then perhaps the payment processing fee?
 
Also, those that argue the $99 developer fee pays for the cost of xCode needs to look at the cost of Visual Studio for the Mac, which is $45 a month for an individual or $250 a month/seat for a business. Developer tools/IDE's/etc are expensive to develop. With no app store revenue why would Apple keep improving the tools?
 
People that own Macs and PCs seem to have no trouble with that end of things.
hmmm, must be me, but I pretty much don't put $9.99 apps on my Mac. Of course I don't keep my entire personal life on my iPhone, but will occasionally spend a little money when bored on the phone. In other words I have far more apps on my iPhone that my Mac, though I'm a developer.

They don't take a 30% cut on payments. They take a 30% commission of sales on apps, and freemium ones that utilize IAP's - big difference.

That 30% includes hosting, vetting, updates, software tools, API's etc. It also allows them to subsidize the massive number of free apps and complimentary service apps.
