How about:

?

:)

Surely there's got to be one of these things that can go over the outside, rather than opening up the machine. A perfect-fitting electrostatic sort of colored gel (when I say gel I don't mean hair stuff I mean the material they used to alter light on film sets) that you slip over the logo.

Is that out there?

Hmm... I have some film gels now how to make it stick on and look sweet....

You could try some transparent double stick tape. Sounds silly, but get the stuff that people use for toupees. It doesn't leave a film on either end and it really sticks well. I used to use this stuff a lot when I worked in film.

Geez, now I'm wondering if have any gels kicking around! Fun stuff. Let me know if it works for you or if you think of another solution.

Cheers, tom

guys do you think you will be able to do this with a bit of thin plastic or do i have to order it all the way from america :(
Just use the wrapper from Quality Street or Roses, I have way too many red wrappers from hunting out all the Brazil Nut Roses a couple of nights ago:(

i could do that yes, but really i would prefer to buy the real thing because they have some great colours and i would really like the cool blue or the old apple sign because that is very cool!

I really wanted the original apple logo, but, as i've read from other people that have done this, i don't want to be sitting in a coffee shop or something with *that* color scheme showing. (not that there's anything wrong with that)

The only downside, i would say, is that you have to open it up if you need service. If you're careful then there's really no way for them to know you even openned the case.

If you want a design that the icolours site, but if you have access to transparencies (go to Kinko's if you don't) just print like a swatch on it and you'll be good to go. As for putting something on the front of the case, that might "take away" from the sleekness (though i could be wrong...)

That's precisely why *I* want to use the old Apple logo. :D

<--- out and proud

they do post to England, for free as well! i will be getting the old apple logo, smily face:) and blue flames. i will also be getting the cool blue, aqua and pink.

see that's crazy I never ever thought of what you guys were thinking. I thought old apple logo... thats all.. very interesting.

guys i am contemplating gettitng the old apple sign, cool blue, green, smily face:) , blue flames and a red one! for my iBook G4 the green looks so cool.

ok i wannna know all your opinions on the matter!:D :D

I have seen many people do this with iBooks, but never with MacBooks, PowerBooks, or MacBook Pro's. The only thing you had to do for the iBook was unscrew the top lid, for the MacBooks, PowerBooks, and MacBook Pro's they don't have the screws (i think, i may be wrong) so they would be harder to pop the lid off. Congrats man, job well done!

I think that could be doable. I think the elastic vynil materials (such as screen protector for Palm and Pocket PC) can be used if they come in color (unfortunately they are transparent as they are supposed to be for the current application).
I am not comfortable opening up the LCD cover just for this type of cosmetic eye candy stuff (you cannot even see it while you are using Mac!).

my blackbook, the pics are kinda ****** cause i took them with my phone. The old school apple looks hot in black. Everyone and their mother at my univeristy has a macbook and i get a ******** of stares.

I also think these overlays are sweet, especially the original apple logo, but noone would get it and people would think it means something else :(. Damn you gays for stealing the rainbow! ;)
