Apple supports 2 development platforms

1. Completely open HTML5 platform (p0rn companies are already adopting)
2. Curated App Store

#2 is not a development platform, it is a retail store. They support 2 retail stores, both of which are limited in scope. Which is downright offensive to some people, even though every single store on the planet is limited in scope. You can't buy p0rn at the Apple store, and you can't buy Apples at the p0rn stores. Horrible, horrible world.

They really only support 1 development platform, it's called Objective-C, if I am properly informed. And that is wide open, do whatever you can. (Apple just won't sell certain products for you at their own stores)

They just claim to like HTML5 for pissing matches.

1000 points to the first person that photoshops a satellite dish in the shape of Apple's logo! I would do it myself, but don't have the ability to.

Don't touch the bottom of the aerial though, otherwise you will get no TV signal.

Its only a matter of time before the real Macs are phased out :(

It sucks that Apple really seems to be caring less and less about Macs and OSX.

Yeah I don't know why Jobs would want to go to this event. Not like he's involved with Pixar or Disney or anything. And of course his absence from this conference since 2005 has nothing to do with a liver.

And not like I can get a tv show through iTunes or anything...

Move along, nothing to see here.

Yep any moves in this arena seem more in line with Steve's other small shareholding, rather than the technology holdings.

Plus he wouldn't want to mix them up too much or he'll paint himself into a conflict of interest and won't be able to play in either of them.

With most people in the US getting their broadband via cable companies with limited alternatives, it seems like a pretty tough sell when most users are already paying for television, getting an increasing selection of on-demand programming via their cable box, and their provider has every incentive to use packet-shaping or other tricks to degrade any Internet-based TV competitor if they feel threatened. I would much prefer to pay for a dumb data pipe and buy TV shows a la cart, but the options aren't there yet. Also, since most show content providers are influenced by or in bed with cable providers, it will be tough to get a comprehensive title list.

I would love to be able to watch iTunes content on my TV, but Apple TV seems like a waste of money and a valuable input. My cheap BluRay player can already stream Amazon Video and YouTube, plus Netflix through my game console. AppleTV however might be more compelling if the price went down and they also allowed "rival" plug-ins like Netflix and Amazon. Providing a AppleTV app for a console would be nice, but at this point Apple is basically a competitor to all of them, so it seems unlikely.
