I think this would be totally stupid.
So would a phone attached to an iPod.
Or a giant iPod Touch at twice the price.
Oh wait . . .

Hope they add it user recognition. It would suck to have my child interrupt my channel changing experience...
NYTimes said:it is becoming clear that Mr. Jobs was talking about Siri, Apple’s new artificial intelligent software on the iPhone 4S.
Just the addition of a mic on the remote control would work better than a clumsy headset![]()

I don't really get what advantage it would be to build this into a TV set instead of making it a set-top box. Then people could choose the TV with the picture they like best instead of relying on Apple's choice.
Sounds cool, but I'm afraid of what would happen if a family tries to watch TV and it goes
"Play Sesame Street!"
"No, let's watch Dancing with the Stars!"
"I want to watch the Broncos game!"
How will it know which person to listen too? Also, how will it know to not listen to the dialog on the TV shows/music, etc.?

If the release cycle is like the iPhone and the features are added just as quickly, I could see discarded Apple TVs piling up in landfills rather quickly when everyone wants to upgrade every year or two.
Shouting "SHOW ME PORN" through open windows at houses where they have an Apple television will then become my new hobby.
