Well, this means one of two things:

1. Apple's device tracking is way off

2. Apple's take on guerilla marketing is getting awfully repetitive

If this is true, I don't even know what to say.

This is just an addition to the insane things that have happened in July and August 2011: Steve Jobs resigns, Google announces Motorola acquisition, HP ditches webOS, HP sells TouchPads for $99 when they could have easily cleared stock if they were priced at $200, HP manufactures more TouchPads to meet demand of $99 sales. And I'm sure I've missed a bunch.

...San Francisco's Cava 22, which describes itself as a "tequila lounge" that also serves lime-marinated shrimp ceviche,...
Wooptie! Can't believe it's in San Francisco. You'd never know by that description.

Didn't you see the ad that Apple is looking for bars to loose prototypes in for mutual benefits...?

EDIT: Cave - satire - for those who didn't get it...

New Corporate policy: No bar visits for employees.

OLD corporate policy - since the other iPhone was lost.

Last year's story was definitely planted; this year's probably was too.

Really?

Unbelievable!

And did we mention Cava 22? They have a great shrimp ceviche! They're located in the Mission! Here's a pic of their address, Cava 22, great tequila! Oh there's an iPhone in here somewhere too, but remember that Cava 22 is on the corner of 22nd! Cava 22, and uh... a lost iPhone!

Ceviche? Raw shrimp? Can you say Hep-C?

Problem was too much José Cuervo.

¡Lo siento mucho!

Yum I'm getting hungry already!!! Anyways.. Apple should offer a reward if they really consider the item priceless. Last guy who found it got charged with stealing, I probably wouldn't return it either if that was the case.

I wonder how many raids the Apple gestapo will make to find their stupid phone. Stupid Apple employees cant hold their liquor and Apple thinks they have the right to search any house they like for a ****en toy. This is just pure ignorance on Apples part.

They don't learn, do they?

Apple should exclude the bar hopping party boys from field testing the friggin' phone prototypes.

Sounds like a planted story to me! Nothing like building hype ahead of the new iPhone release! I call BS!

CNets article reads like a paid endorsement by Cava 22 more than a story about an iPhone.

Very suspicious, zero evidence, lots of talk about "lime marinaded shrimp ceviche" suuuuuuuure...

Yes it does. That was exactly my first thought. It's to the point where any mention of a product or service just makes me cringe. Can you imagine 10 years from now? I see advertising as an obnoxious teenager waving their hands in front of you trying to get your attention.

Marketers have taken the world and made it into one big cheap advert experience.

"that also serves lime-marinated shrimp ceviche"

Seriously? That got through the editor?

we are a bought and sold society my friend. everything is cheapened these days (mostly).
