Anyone consider that these iPhone "losses" are really clever Apple marketing to generate hype?!

They better not be getting the police involved if thats the case, bug then again it's not like the police have better things to do than taking part in an Apple publicity stunt.

Any normal person loses a phone and calls the police and what would they get? Nada. Why is it that tax dollars are being spent on a LOST item. It was not stolen.

I hope they never see it again. When I lost my iPhone(I was mugged and carjacked), even with the IEMI number Apple would not help me find it. Att said they would block it from being reactivated. All you need is the IEMI number to track the phone, even if the sim card has been replaced. They said I would have to buy a new phone.

I did, I went back to my Motorola Slide.

Good lord.... not again!

And did we mention Cava 22? They have a great shrimp ceviche! They're located in the Mission! Here's a pic of their address, Cava 22, great tequila! Oh there's an iPhone in here somewhere too, but remember that Cava 22 is on the corner of 22nd! Cava 22, and uh... a lost iPhone!

Brilliant isn't it?

Either Apple employs careless buffoons or this is a deliberate act to gain attention.

Or it’s just a news to get more attention to this bar.

But IMO it’s deliberate if it’s true. Come on, a bar, AGAIN. An iPhone prototype, AGAIN. They want to know what are the critics before releasing it, and it’s a great way to get media attention because it’s a scandal and not an official presentation.

For last year's phone, maybe.

Again this year? Hopelessly lame marketing.

I think you're totally wrong. I think they have a bunch of engineers that drink too much, and this one should be fired. I don't think either of these are marketing gimmick as they have the law involved, and if it were found out to be as you suggest.... somebody might be in for some jail time.

Go play with your android now.

Wonder if it's the same guy? I can imagine that conversation...

"we gave you one more shot. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?"

haha. fail.

not clever. And "holy grail" - ok. Sometimes, LTD - I swear... LOL

Yes, samcraig,

"holy grail". Apple invented the new world of smart phones. The smart phone experience before apple was uninspired, and the user experience was an after thought. It was geared more towards how quickly can one boost their bottom line. Instead of actually creating something truly unique for the user, and in turn boosting the bottom line. Business in america is so cheap. Theres only a few companies today that focus on quality.

Do you think Apple needs to generate any more hype than there already is?

YES, yes they do! Not everyone is a Macrumors fanboy! This would national news. Not headlines, but it would be national just like last years episode was. Thats good advertising.

Agreed! I don't think its fair corporations get "special protection" that ordinary people don't and yet as you mentioned we're the ones paying for everything!

are u suggesting Apple and other corporations don't pay taxes?

Happy daze are here again.

And you all thought that corporate America had no sense of humor.

Congress, 12% approval. Housing lost 50% of value. Banks bailed out while the unemployment rate stagnates. 401K, howz that working out for you? S&P giving AAA ratings to toxic sub prime CDOs. 2 wars, no victory after 10 years of sacrifice by the best and bravest. Tea Party Know-Nothings v. Spend Thrifts. I could go on.

Yet with this charming plant of yet another lost toy story, everyone smiles.

There is hope: God Bless us Everyone!!

Put the damned things on a leash, literally, already. It's hard to lose something when it's attached to your body. :D

That's exactly why I want them to add a lanyard hole. I carry my current phone by clipping it to myself and have never left it anywhere. The iPhone is too big for a pants pocket and I don't carry a purse.

You'd think Apple would have banned going to BARS with prototypes by now.
